《This Is Me》20

A few days had passed and Clay and I were sitting in the car. We were on our way to the city as we sat in the backseat together. Clay sat in the middle seat so we could cuddle with each other and my dad was driving us. He would leave after and we would get picked up by Clay's dads.

We arrived at the city we wanted to be at twenty minutes later and stepped out of the car after saying goodbye to my dad. We just started walking without having a goal to go to and I held Clay's hand.

Clay looked at me and smiled. 'I took extra money with me, so I can buy some dresses for you. Your mum told me to buy some more feminine stuff.'

I smiled. 'You don't have to.'

'I have a list of things in mind. We can buy more dresses, skirts, maybe shoes with heels. We could even buy you hair extensions and a bra if that makes you happy. Nail polish, maybe.'

I felt my face heat up and stared down at my hands. 'Do you really want to do that?'

'Yes, because you're happy when you look more feminine when you feel like a girl.'

I ended up hugging Clay and he pulled me into a store. 'I must say, I know nothing about bras and such, we might have to ask someone.'

I nodded slowly. 'We can.'

'We can ask someone to help us look for some stuff? I know very little about girls if I'm honest. What are your pronouns?'

'Yeah, that's a good idea. And either they/them or she/her. I prefer she/her when I see all these feminine clothes. But I think I'd rather have you call me they/them to a stranger.'

Clay grabbed my hand and we walked to the counter. A young woman looked at us. 'Hi, how can I help?'

'So, my partner is gender fluid and we want to buy some stuff for them when they feels like a girl, but we know nothing about this.'

The woman smiled and nodded. 'Come with me.'

She showed us multiple things and as soon as Clay noticed me smiling, he put it in a basket to buy. After twenty minutes we had bought multiple things. We had some hair extensions, we had two bras and a skirt. Clay wasn't done at all yet, so he pulled me into another store with clothes and shoes.

'Clay, this is a bit expensive.'

'I don't mind, buy what you like.'

I started looking around and Clay walked behind me. He suddenly stood still and I turned around, seeing him look at a dress. I noticed him getting a bit nervous and he quickly walked further.

'What's wrong?' I asked as I smiled at him.

'Nothing.'

'Do you like that dress?'

'Uh- n-no.'

'You do, you like that dress.' I walked back and grabbed the dress, showing it to him. It was a light green dress, seen the price tag saying that that was the colour.

'No, it's fine, I don't want a dress. It's better for me to buy some new sweatpants.'

'But you like this dress.'

'I do, but I don't think that I-.'

'I'm buying it.'

'Can I try it first?'

'Of course, the changing room is back there.'

'Can you come with me? I'm a bit scared,' Clay muttered as he looked at his feet with an awkward look on his face.

I grabbed his hand and we walked to the changing room, closing the door behind us. Clay took off his shirt and sweats and looked at the dress nervously. I smiled and lifted his arms, helping him pull on the dress.

He turned to the mirror as he pulled it on and I saw a small smile fill his face as he looked at himself wearing the dress.

It wasn't a long dress, it was just above his knees and it was a very casual one. He still seemed to love it. 'You really like it, don't you?'

Clay blushed and nodded softly. 'I do, but I think I can't wear a dress after everything I did to you.'

'You can and I would love you to. You look amazing in a dress.'

Clay suddenly had a tear roll down his face and he stared at his feet. 'I'm so sorry, George.'

I pulled Clay close to my body and rubbed his back as he cried on my shoulder. 'I'm so sorry.'

'Don't apologise, I understand it and I have forgiven you ages ago.'

'But I ripped your favourite dress and I even abused you. Am I an abusive boyfriend? I think it's better for me to go.'

I kissed his cheek multiple times and smiled. 'You're not an abusive boyfriend, we weren't boyfriends back then. I don't mind anymore and I forgave you. The blue dress is already fixed again.'

'Can I do anything to make it better?'

'To let me buy this dress for you.'

Clay nodded slowly. 'I will let you.'

We walked back to the store and I ended up buying some shoes with heels and another dress. We paid for it all and went to some different stores. We didn't buy a lot more and we sat down in the parking lot as we cuddled up and kissed each other softly.

Clay wrapped his arms around my neck and pulled me closer as we got lost in the moment. We kissed just as long as it took Clay's dad to park the car next to us and we stood up, ignoring the fact he just saw us kiss.

He ignored it as well and we sat down in the backseat as we cuddled up again.

'Did you have fun today?' his dad asked us.

I nodded heavily and Clay smiled as he grabbed the bag with stuff. 'Look dad, I bought a dress.'

His dad looked in the mirror to see the backseats and smiled as Clay showed him his dress. 'That looks amazing, Clay. I'm proud of you.'

Clay blushed and cuddled up with me.
