《This Is Me》8

I came home from Clay and sat down on the couch with a glass of water. Clay and I had fun, but it felt different than before I knew he would hate me if he knew how I really was and it just hurt.

I noticed that I was getting really sad and sighed. I couldn't talk to my parents about it since they didn't even know I was gay and gender fluid. It made me feel a bit alone, knowing my best friend wouldn't even like me anymore. I decided to stand up and go to my brother since he always knew how to cheer me up.

I smiled at my mum as she looked at me standing up. 'I'll be right back for dinner.'

'Okay, sweetie. Dinner is ready in ten minutes.'

I nodded and walked up the stairs, going to my brother's room. I could always just walk in so I pushed the door open and closed it a bit again as I noticed what was going on.

My brother was kissing a boy and I immediately turned around. 'I'm so sorry, I will directly leave.'

'No, you can stay,' my brother muttered. 'I uh- we-.'

The other boy rolled away from my brother and stood up. He stuck out his hand and smiled. 'Hi!'

'Hi, I'm his sibling,' I smiled.

'Nice to meet you.'

'Sorry for making this incredibly awkward, you can go back to whatever you were doing.'

I turned around to run away, but my brother grabbed my hand. 'Stay, what's wrong? You don't usually walk in for nothing.'

'It's nothing, I was just sad. I'm better now. Are you two boyfriends?'

'Uh- I don't know actually,' my brother giggled. 'We were hanging out and kind of ending up kissing each other.'

'Aww,' I smiled. 'I'll leave.'

'No, please don't. Just stay and talk to me, what's wrong?'

I sighed softly and looked at my brother and his future boyfriend. 'I was at Clay's place today and it just made me sad that he will never accept me.'

My brother nodded and grabbed my hand. 'I accept you, Gogy.'

'I don't know what I should accept you with, but I accept you too,' the other boy said.

I smiled. 'I'm gay and gender fluid. I like dressing up in a dress and wearing makeup.'

'Oh my goodness, really? I sometimes wear makeup,' he smiled. 'I haven't told this to anyone, I thought your brother wouldn't like me anymore.'

'I love that,' my brother said. 'My sibling is gorgeous with makeup and I bet you are as well.'

I smiled.

'I notice him calling you "sibling". Are you non-binary at the moment?'

'Usually I'm non-binary or a boy, but when I dress up like that, I feel more like a girl.'

'Would you like me to use they/them for you?'

'Not in front of my friends or parents, but I would like to. Sometimes I prefer he/him, though. I'm sorry, I'm just confusing.'

'You're not confusing at all,' my brother smiled. 'You should make a small sign in your or my room. Then you can switch it to what gender you are and I will read it every time so I know.'

'Thank you so much.'

'I'm gay too, by the way,' the other boy said. 'You're not alone.'

'I think I'm bisexual,' my brother smiled.

I smiled. 'Luckily you accept me when Clay doesn't.'

'Is Clay your friend?'

'Yeah, he's really homophobic.'

'I'm so sorry to hear that, that's horrible.'

I nodded and smiled. 'It's fine, I can deal with it.'

'Gogy, do you want to come to the park with us after dinner?'

I nodded. 'That sounds fun, am I not interrupting anything?'

'You're not at all.'

I smiled. 'I would love to come with you to the park then. I just want to be away for a bit so I don't constantly think about Clay.'

My brother smiled and then my mum called us for dinner. We walked downstairs with us three and sat down. My brother sat next to his crush and I saw them holding hands under the table as they ate with their other hand.

I smiled, but also felt a bit sad. For some reason I imagined Clay and I there, holding hands. I would have to forget about that immediately and looked down at my food as I suddenly felt my dad look up.

'Are you holding hands?' he giggled as he looked at my brother.

'Uh- so I uh- I kind of have to tell you something,' my brother started.

I smiled at him for encouragement and he nodded slowly. 'I uh- I know a better way of doing this,' he smiled.

He grabbed the other boy's hand and smiled. 'Do you want to be my boyfriend?'

It was quiet for a little and he nodded heavily. 'I would love to.'

'Congrats,' my dad smiled. He didn't even question the fact that he was a boy.

'So- I'm bisexual,' my brother said. 'And I really like him.'

My mum smiled and laid her spoon down to grab my brother's hand shortly. 'I'm so proud of you, sweetie. Did you have to hide this for a long time?'

He shook his head. 'Not that long. I was thinking about it for a while, but I didn't know myself what I was. I figured out that I'm bisexual now, I don't know if I have a preference. I just know that I like him a lot.'

'We are all proud of you,' my dad smiled. 'And you?' he asked his boyfriend.

'I'm gay,' he smiled.

They talked a bit about his parents who were pretty accepting as well and after dinner we left to go to the park. I sat down on a bench next to my brother as he held hands with his boyfriend and enjoyed the sun on my face.

Everything was fine at first, until I heard a recognisable voice. I opened my eyes and saw Clay looking at me furiously.
