the elevator moves through the walls
the people above and below
walk the halls
and yet i never see the elevator door
i press the button
and i wait
and wait
and wait
but no elevator ever comes
no people ever show
it is cold here
it is silent here
the only sounds are my thoughts
they are on every wall
the ceiling, and the floor
the peephole of everyday door
they are all i know
they consume me
they swallow me whole
they are all i am now
for i've lived here for too long
and i am starting to think
there is no way out
i am alone in this empty hallway
and i have been here for a very long time
i cannot leave
there are no stairs
and the elevator isn't coming
because i live
on the 13th floor
