"Congratulations Dr. Aalyan, this surgery was also successful" Dr. Saim shook hands with me. "Thank you, I wouldn't have done anything without my team. I shall take your leave now" I excused myself and paced to my chamber.
Why? Why does every surgery, remind me of that dreadful day, the day I couldn't save you, the day you bid adieu to me in this vicious world.
I clutched the table, Zarya's voice echoed in my ears like the bells in a temple.
"I love you, Aalu"
I slammed my fist on the table, was I frustrated? Agonised? The feeling I had to undergo was indescribable. My eyes tarried to my balcony, I saw a figure there. The sight was vague, due to the voile curtains. I shoved the curtains away to see a teen girl standing there, cheering.
Furrowing my eyebrows, I slid the glass door, resulting the girl to flinch. She held the balcony ledge, frightened.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, sternly. "I-I came her to collect my kite" she stuttered, not looking me in the eye. "May I ask how did you reach here?" I crossed my arms. "Oh that!" the girl clapped, slightly beaming. "I jumped over from that building"
I widened my eyes, her big beautiful doe eyes, filled with complex emotions, poured into mine. I swear they were beautiful. "Noushi! I'll save you" I heard someone shout. "Oh hero, zyada himmat na dikhao. No one is eating me up" she yelled back. "Isn't it dangerous? What if you fell and broke your bones?" I inquired. "Nothing would happen, I trust in my Allah. Besides, what's this hospital here for?" she laughed as if I told her a very funny joke.
"For your kindest information, we fix brains here not bones" I told her. "Aapi we're going to be late then amma is going to scold us and also cut all your kites!" a boy, seemingly aged around 10-11 shouted. "Shit" she cursed under her breath, "Anyway it wasn't very pleasant meeting you" she said.

"Pardon me but I think I must have misheard you" I furrowed my brows. I was sweet enough to her. She pursed her lips into a smile. "No you heard me right, it was unpleasant meeting you. You're rude" she pouted and jumped over to the half-constructed building. I looked at her, amused, she was standing there bargaining with four teen boys and a kid which I figured was her brother.
I jumped back to the haunted house. The doctor was honestly quite frightening, I couldn't see his face though. He wore a scrub suit and his face was covered with a mask but his voice was deep, so deep that it could diffuse in your body and alarm your soul.
I wonder how he'd look like? I thought to myself while playing with my hair. I was snapped out of my reverie when I heard Hashir, "Well, let's leave now"
"Excuse me we're not leaving before you hand us our money" I placed my hand in front of him, indicating him to pay up. "Fine" he handed her a note of five thousand.
"Oh well then I'll go, Khuda Hafiz" I turned around to leave. "Shouldn't you thank me at least!" Hashir exclaimed. "I deserved it anyway" I said and with that I left.
"Who was that you were talking to?" Mustafa asked. "I dunno" I replied bluntly. "If you don't know, why were you talking to him" he halted and looked at me "I dunno" I shrugged.
Why did I feel so attracted to the doctor. I didn't even see his face, just merely got to hear his hoarse voice.
"Aapi" Mustafa waved his hands in front of my eyes, clicking me back to reality. "You seriously need to stop daydreaming. By the way, did you notice how Hashir was staring at you the whole time? I think he likes you" Mustafa said. I choked on my saliva. "I think he's just jealous that he can't fly kites like me"
"Aapi, you're seriously blind" he moued. "And you're paranoid" I retorted, pinching his cheeks.
We snuck back into our house, I quickly ran up to my room. Sighingly, slumped back on my bed., thinking of the man earlier.
