《That Nerd》Bonus chapter - Maya and Dylan's proposal

I walk out of the hotel and my feet automatically melt into the soft white sand. Dylan takes my hand and we walk along the beach towards the reception.
Today we are going to some kind of water park that is located on the island. Dylan and I have been together for six years now. I can't believe that we haven't poisoned each other yet, spending six years with anyone else would have ended in death. Mine or theirs.
We decided to go to Mauritius because we needed a break from life and so we are staying at one of the best resorts on the island. There is a taxi that we called for that is waiting at the reception to take us to the water park.
Sebastian, Ryan, Malaika and Ruby are here too but we are all doing our own things for today.
"So you want to go swimming with the dolphins?" Dylan asks and I smile, nodding.
Who the heck says no to that?
---
"Winter!" the person working at the water park shouts. We are at the water park and we are swimming with the dolphins.
The water is so clear and it is like a gigantic pool except the floor is sand, just like the ocean.
Winter- the dolphin - swims towards the person that shouted it's name. The guy puts his hand on the dolphins smooth skin and rubs and the dolphins starts swirling around in a circle, splashing water over Dylan and I.
I laugh and Dylan hides behind me even though we are both already wet.
We spend a while just swimming with the dolphins as they brush against our legs and make squeaking sounds.
One of the other staff members whistle for another dolphin named Blue and it swims straight up to me and lifts its head out the water. I am about to touch its head when I see something shining in the dolphins mouth. It is biting down on the tiny object. I frown, "What is that?" I ask Dylan and he chuckles.

He pulls the golden object out of the dolphins mouth and gets down on one knee in the shallow part of the water. "Maya," Dylan says and I cover my mouth with my hands as happiness overwhelmes me, "will you marry me?" he asks and a few people around start clapping and cheering. I get down on my knees to get to the same level as Dylan and I press my lips to his.
He tastes like salt water. I pull away from his lips and nod, tears falling down my cheeks. I grin and he slips the beautiful ring onto my finger. "Aww baby, dont cry." he whispers, wiping the tears off my cheeks. I laugh and wrap my arms around Dylan's neck and he wraps his arms around my waist.
I can't explain how happy I feel. It's like I want to get up and start dancing and flying and singing at the top of my lungs and I just can't stop smiling.
---
We walk back into our hotel room and I lie down on the bed, my hair still slightly damp. Dylan lies beside me and smiles, pulling me closer to him and making me face him. "So do you want to get married here? Our friends are already here anyway." Dylan asks and I get excited but start panicking.
"What, but what about the flowers and the dress and the tables and the cake and the priest and the everything? We're leaving in two days, when are we going to do it?" I say, freaking out. Yes, I definitely want to be with Dylan but I want everything to be perfect. It is my wedding day after all.
Dylan laughs and places his lips gently against mine, "Don't worry princess, if you have forgotten, I am Dylan Thompson, I'll make sure you become Maya Thompson by tomorrow." he says and I sigh, closing my eyes and listening to the waves of the beach that's right outside our room.
Everything about this is perfect.

The Kiss of Two Moons
The last year is upon us. The world is ending, but you already knew that; everyone does. Spring has come, and the flowers have bloomed here in this small town with no name. Thousands of different colours now paint the field that had been coloured by frost alone just yesterday. The townsfolk have gathered by the field to celebrate the beginning of the last spring with so many smiling faces. Tears too. I can’t help but wonder whether the flowers will bloom again before the sky falls upon us. Others must be thinking the same. There are moments when the smiles fade and their eyes glaze over as they realize just how near to the end we are. They forget it again in moments. They make themselves forget. The children aren’t like that, though. They don’t seem to understand, or they’ve come to accept it in a way that their parents just can’t manage to. This one boy actually asked me why I was sad. I had to wonder whether he was actually aware that the world is ending, but it seemed wrong to mention it. I ended up just telling him that I was waiting for someone, and he scampered off, wearing a silly smile. I can’t help but feel jealous of him. The beginning of next spring; the day that the world ends. It seems so far away, yet so close. Wherever you are now, I have to ask, how are you spending your last spring? Did you get to see the flowers bloom? Did you smile? Did you cry?
