Stepping into a normal classroom shouldn't be as hard as it is now. Alaric isn't writing today's objective on the board or sitting at his desk grading papers and I had to live with that. He wasn't coming back.

I take a seat at my desk, making no facial expression, only hoping to move along with the day with no hustle. Stefan reaches over his desk onto mine and squeezes my hand in comfort. I give him a small smile and he lets go, turning back to his desk.

I pull out my notebook and pen, waiting patiently for the new teacher to arrive. More and more students start to pile into the room and I didn't even notice Elena joining Stefan and I.

"It's the first time we've been back in Alaric's classroom..."

"First period, and I'm ready to bawl my eyes out." Elena frowns, looking down. "Same." I respond, biting my lips to hold back the tears.

"Morning, everyone." Rebekah enters the classroom with a smile, handing out flyers and passing them to nearby students.

Elena mutters, "Just like that, I'm no longer feeling sentimental."

"So, I'm throwing a little anti-curfew party at my new house. Starts at fifth period and goes 'til whenever. Spread the word." Rebekah states, making her way over to us.

She hands me one, "Please come, Maya."

I gulp, taking the paper and start to read off of it. She turns to my sister, "You're welcome to join, Elena, if you'd like to bury the hatchet."

She hands my sister a flyer and Elena accepts it. "It's a pretty enormous hatchet."

Rebekah rolls her eyes, "Well, I'm feeling generous of spirit."

"New house, huh? Did your brother finally kick you out?" Elena asks, looking at the flyer.

My eyes widen a bit and I turn my head to look at the two of them argue. Rebekah shakes her head, "He didn't kick me out, I left." she clarifies.

"So, you left the only person on earth that actually likes you?" Elena asks her, narrowing her eyes.

Rebekah looks at me with a grin, "Your sister likes me."

I let out a sigh, not wanting to be pushed into this. Elena gave her a look, "Why would she be friends with someone who killed her sister?"

Rebekah scoffs. "You're alive now," She then smirks, "and besides, sweet Maya over here is getting close with my brother so it must mean we're bound for enteral friendship."

My lips form into a straight line and exhale a breathe of annoyance. Both Elena and Stefan look at me, probably assuming I would shut her down but in all honesty, I am in no mood to join their bickering squad.

"And, your boyfriend liked me once." Stefan looks up at her, clearly not happy to be dragged into it. "Actually, a lot more than once."

Elena looks furious, and began to tightly hold onto the table. "Why are you still in town, Rebekah? Don't you have anywhere else to go?" Stefan asks, straightening himself.

"Well, history's my favorite class. Actually, where is Mr. Saltzman...?" she pauses dramatically.

I swallow thickly, preparing myself for her next words to bother my sister. I watch her as her rage intensifies.

Rebekah smiles, "Oh, that's right, I killed him."

Elena loses her temper, throwing a pencil at Rebekah's face except she catches it with ease and aims to back towards her. The pencil impales into Elena's shoulder.

"That's enough." I stand up from my chair and help Elena out of her chair. She pulls the pencil out of her shoulder with a hiss. "Go get some fresh air. Have Stefan go with you."

Elena nods and walks out of the room with Stefan behind her before anyone could notice what just happened. I turn to Rebekah, "Seriously?"

"What?" She shrugs innocently, "Your sister deserves to be pushed around a little, don't you think?"

"We just lost Alaric, Rebekah. I don't need you making it any worse." I tell her, sitting back down at my seat.

I heard her sigh as she sits on the desk ahead of mine and turns to face me. "Look, I apologize for what I said about him."

I raise my eyebrows at her, refusing to believe that she's taking back her word for me. "Really?"

"Yes, really." she replies and stands up from her spot, collecting her stack of paper. "If it makes you feel better, I know Nik is at the Lockwood's. Might as well ditch this knockoff Saltzman and see him."

I press my back against the side of Tyler's house and spot Caroline talking to him on his front doorstep. I had no idea why she was here, but it was helpful in me sneaking in.

I slide the window up and quietly step into the home. I close it and spin around, noticing I'm currently in a room with leather couches and a burning fireplace. I quickly exit and stumble upon two grown men.

I breathe in sharply, unaware of what to do when their eyes meet mine. "How did you get in?" A man asks, stepping forward.

Out of unwariness, I step back. "Tyler let me in."

"And you are...?" The other man asks. "Maya," I reply, "A good friend of his, actually."

"Maya?" The first man repeats and quietly converses with the other man, whispering in each other's ears.

The both men look at each other before nodding, "She must be Klaus' girl." one of them whispers, "He'll want to see her."

"Wait, what—"

Their hands secure around each arm of mine and drag me to a room, the office. After opening the door, and pushing me in, they left shortly after and I met with the hybrid.

His body leans back against the office chair, with his feet propped up on the desk, and he gives me a grin. "Hello, Maya."

"Klaus."

He slips himself out of his seat and walks toward me. "I was wondering when you'd come." he says, now in front of me.

I point my finger to his chest, "You didn't tell me you were back."

"You know I'd never leave you." he tells me and I give him a small smile, earning one from him shortly after.

"Why are you camped out here?" I ask him, turning my body away to have a look in the office. I haven't stepped foot in here for awhile, not after I slowly started losing touch with Tyler, and it brought back a wave of nostalgia.

He opens his mouth to answer, but puts his finger up and tilts his head as if he's listening to something. I furrow my eyebrows, "What is it?" I whisper.

Klaus motions his finger to follow him out of the room, and I oblige. We stumble upon the study room where an unfamiliar brunette stands.

I couldn't see her face, her back was facing me. "You're a new face." Klaus spoke, causing the girl to stop looking at the framed photograph.

She turns around, observing us. "And I take it from your accent you're an old one. Klaus."

Klaus smiles, "My reputation precedes me. Hopefully not all bad." The girl shrugs, "A little bad. Mostly repulsive."

Her eyes moves to mine and I introduce myself, "I'm Maya."

She nods, "Oh, you're the famous Maya. Tyler briefly mentioned you a few times before."

I give her a tight smile, "All good things, I hope."

Klaus moves closer to her, and he lets go of my waist, and I wasn't aware his hands were there at first. "So, you're a friend of Tyler's? That's strange, he's never mentioned you."

He zones off for a moment, listening closely to something. A minute or so past when he turns back with a devilish look on his face. "And I think I know why."

§

Klaus walks over to me and looks at what I'm reading, which is one of the books the Mayor had payed out ontop of his desk. I lean on the desk and I sigh out of boredom, closing the book and looking up at Klaus, him looking straight at me. His eyes soften slightly, his face lowers closer to my face.

Before I could say something his arms are already wrapped around my waist and his lips are on top of mine. I felt the rush of helplessness, the sinking yielding, the surging tide of warmth that rushed to my cheeks and my lips.

He moved a few books off of the desk and roughly sets me on top of it and kisses me. I pull closer and deepen the kiss. His lips trail down to my neck and I let out a soft moan, barely audible.

I get up from the desk, grabbing Klaus and pushing him to the chair and make him sit on it.

"Aggressive, huh?" he whispers. I bring my lips very close to his, "Mmh," I hum as I straddle him. I kiss his lips again. His hands trail down to my waist and he pulls me towards him. I grind towards him and he lets out a gasp. He puts his hand on my waist, again, holding me still.

I hear the door open, loudly. I jump off of Klaus and see Tyler. Heat rushes to my cheeks and I immediately feel embarrassed.

"What the hell?!"

Klaus proudly situates himself on the chair with a wide grin forming on his lips. I began to wonder if he knew Tyler would walk in on us, and I curse to myself for letting myself get so distracted easily.

Tyler eyes us angrily, you can practically see smoke fuming out of his ears. "Did I just see what I just saw?" he growls.

"Depends, did you see me kissing Maya?" Klaus grins, loving the feeling of his enemy hate him more.

A shaky sigh escapes my lips. I wasn't sure what to do in this situation. There's no one Tyler hates more than the one I locked lips with, so I remained quiet for the time being.

"I saw you kissing my best friend, and I'm not okay with that." he retorts with a frown forming on his face.

"It's just a kiss, Tyler." I say, feeling the urge to stand up for myself. "A kiss?! That looked more than just a kiss and you know it." he replied.

I swallow thickly, "This has nothing to do with you."

"He's the enemy here, Maya. You of all people should understand that!" he yells, causing me to flinch. Klaus stands up from the chair, "Don't yell at her, again."

Heat radiated off of each male in the room. Their eyes were dead set on each other, feeling hatred. I couldn't stand to watch any longer.

I push my hair aside, "I should probably go," I clear my throat. "Elena's probably wondering where I am."

I rush out of the office, guilt rushing through me, but all I can think of was the feeling of Klaus' lips on mine.

§

Students crowd the area located at Rebekah's party. Stefan had informed me that he and Elena arrived here, and I did absolutely anything to leave Tyler's house.

"Stefan!" I call out, a wave of relief rushing through me once I spot eyes on him. It took me a few minutes to push past the partygoers. He spins around, "Maya. How are you?"

"I'm good," I answer, "I'm sorry I was late. I, uh, got held up. How are you doing?"

He replies that he's doing fine and hands me a red solo cup full of beer. I thank him and take a sip of my beverage, "Where's Elena?"

He shrugs, "Not sure. She went to go to talk to April in the kitchen." he says. "April's here?" I ask, finding my way to the kitchen. Once we got there, Stefan zooms in front of Elena. Elena had a white oak stake in her hand, about to stab Rebekah from behind. I gasp, not expecting to walk into that scene.

Rebekah walks away, not realizing that Elena was about to stab her. "Damon give that to you?" Stefan asks Elena, stopping her.

She nods, "Yes. Reluctantly." Stefan gives her a silent look and Elena continues, "Stefan, she's—she's not gonna stop. She's just gonna keep pushing and pushing—"

Stefan interrupts her, "Well, if you want to kill her–" Stefan steps aside and gestures towards the hallway, "I'm not gonna stop you. But see, here's what'll happen, it'll feel really good for about ten seconds, and then after that, tens of thousands of vampires all over the world will start to die. Every vampire she ever turned will die. See, rage is a really powerful feeling. But guilt? Take it from me– it'll destroy you. So, you can either go after her, or you can get on the back of my motorcycle and we can get the hell out of here."

I stand there in shock, taking in what Stefan just told Elena. Stefan smiles and holds out his hand. Elena sighs reluctantly and hands him the stake.

We walk back outside to the front of the yard, teenagers crowding us. Rebekah is standing on the porch and sees us walking past her. She fake pouts, "Leaving so soon?"

Elena stops and turns around to face Rebekah. "No. Not just yet." she looks at Stefan and hands him her bag, "I never got a drink."

She looks at Rebekah, smirking, and walks over to the keg. She places her hands on the sides of the keg and does a handstand. Someone sticks the beer hose in her mouth and she starts to drink as everyone around her starts chanting, "Chug! Chug! Chug!"

I widen my eyes, not knowing that my sister was the type of person to do this. "I'm–"

After a few seconds, Elena comes back to the ground and wipes beer from her mouth. "Now I'm ready to go."

§

I pull out my phone, disgusted in what I was hearing. Stefan and Elena we're having sex in his room and they were so loud. They should know that I'm downstairs and I can hear them loud and clear.

I let out a sigh, definitely not wanting to stay. I grab my bag, and walk over to the door when Stefan yells, "Maya, come up here!"

My eyes widen, they did not just ask me to join them. "No, I'm okay." I tell back, opening the door.

I turn back around and Stefan is behind me, rushing to put on his shirt. "Hey, where are you going?" he asks.

I furrow my eyebrows, "You and Elena clearly seem to be busy. There's no reason for me to stay."

He sighs, "Sorry about that. We kind of got carried away..." I nod, "Yeah, so I'll be leaving and you can continue."

"No, Elena has werewolf venom in her system. I need you to call Klaus." he tells me, closing the door. "How did she get that in her system?"

"There's a hunter that's after all the vampires." he explains and guides me up the stairs. "Okay, why do we need to call Klaus?"

"Because he's not answering me and he'll answer you. Plus, his blood will heal her." I nod, "Alright,"

We walk into Stefan's room and Elena lays on the bed, looking incredibly ill. "Oh, Elena."

"Come on Klaus, where the hell are you?" Stefan hangs up his phone and sits on the bed, next to Elena.

"I'll go call him," I say and walk out the door. As I pull out my phone, Klaus flashes in front of me, smirking. "Oh, you're here." I spoke.

I open the door and Stefan stands up. He lets out a relieved sigh, "You came."

Klaus nods, "I did. And for future reference, one voicemail is just as effective as nine."

Elena groans in discomfort. Klaus looks at her, "What's wrong?"

"She has werewolf venom in her system. You know you're the only one that can heal her, Klaus. Please." Stefan answers.

"And what would you have done if I were no longer here? Hm? If you and your friends had succeeded in ridding the world of me? Let's play that game for a moment, shall we?" Klaus taunts

Stefan angrily steps forward. "Then do it for Maya. Save her sister,"

Klaus looks over to me then back at Stefan. Klaus walks over towards Elena and sits on the bed next to her. "If you had told me a few hours ago about her, I wouldn't have cared a lick about her dying. But, as it turns out..." he bites into his wrist, "You may be of use to me after all." Klaus places his wrist in her mouth and Elena drinks his blood.

"Yes. There we go."

§

The sound of the front door opening and shutting rang through my household. I step into my living room, wondering who the intruder is. "Caroline? Knocking exists, you know?"

"You kissed Klaus?!"

"Wha-What the hell are you talking about?" I act innocent, patting my head nervously.

"Oh, don't play dumb. Tyler told me, he saw you two; making out on the mayors desk." Caroline crosses her arms.

"You sure he's not seeing things?" I shrug, spinning around and walking back into the kitchen. She follows after me, "Hello?! Why would Tyler lie to me?"

"Because he didn't..." I speak slowly, facing her. "And what's the big deal? It's only a kiss."

She uncrosses her arms and puts them high in the air, "Because he's the bad guy!"

"That's the only excuse you guys use." I cross my own arms, getting fed up with the overused statement. "What's that suppose to mean?" she questions.

"I know he's a terrible person, but so is everyone else I'm friends with. Nobody here is innocent, and to me, he's not that bad of a guy anymore." I confess.

"Oh, my God. You like him." she widens her eyes, letting her hands fall to her sides. Heat crept up to my cheeks and I swiftly turn my head to avoid her eyes, "No, I don't."

"Okay, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you, it's not like I can change your mind about him. I should be more supportive."

I turn back around, shocked. "What? Really?"

She nods, smiling. "Yes, really."

"Okay, then can you not tell anyone? I know that isn't really up your strong suit—" I start and she cuts me off with an offensive gasp, "but, I think it's best if nobody knows." I finish off.

"Your secret is safe with me."
