《TodoBaku, Destiny》Ch. 16

Shōto's POV:

I knew I'd have to run into Yaoyorozu Kaede, the mother of my ex-fiancé, also known as the greatest businesswoman in the history of Japan. The amount of power she held in her hands was unbelievable. More power than any of the people in this room filled with businessmen, could or dared to ever dream of.

Out of pure reflex, I turned around to face her with a polite smile taking shape on my features. Almost as if that reaction was something glued to my mind like an instinct, an instinct automatically activating to the mere sound of her voice.

I was met by her sharp onix irises looking straight into mine. Her black hair was put up in a hair style consisting of plenty of elegant braids tied together in the shape of a flower.

Before I had the time to reply, the clicking sound of her high heels was heard as she calmly catched up to me. The expression resting on her beautiful features was as gracious and collected as always. She had a faint courteous smile on her lips that were painted in a darker shade of red.

"What a pleasant surprise running into the utterly lovely hostess of this stunning party, lady Yaoyorozu-sama. I humbly thank you for your kindness, inviting me here this evening."

She waved my flattery off with a light chuckle, her smile widening.

"I see you're as charming as always, Shōto-kun. You never fail to flatter a woman's heart with your sugar coated words."

Her gaze left me, settling on the ash blonde Omega my my side. Her eyes narrowed as she throughly observed him as if staring straight into his soul. Katsuki looked awfully uneasy as he felt her eyes scan him from head to toe.

"So this woman is the Omega Momo mentioned when she told me about your canceled engagement, am I correct?"

I let a nod be my answer to her question.

"This young woman looks very familiar. Who are you exactly?"

I noticed how Katsuki's nervousness went from 40% to 75% the second she asked him a question directly. He knew that he couldn't answer with words because of his masculine voice. Almost panicking, he shot me an uneasy glance.

"She's not Japanese, so she prefers not to speak as she's afraid of saying something wrong. She's yet not fluent in Japanese, so please don't take her silence for rudeness."

Lady Yaoyorozu hesitated for a moment, probably fully aware of that it merely was a desperate attempt to cover up Katsuki's real situation.

"I suppose you have a very good reason for hiding this young man's true identity. Rest assured, I'm not going to meddle in your affairs."

With a relieved sigh, I directed her a grateful smile. Then, less than two seconds later, I realized that she'd referred to him as "young man".

That woman really was as sharp as the edge of a razorblade..

"There's one thing about you boy, that instantly caught my attention.. You look like a split image of a person I once knew very well. Someone I held very dear, and still do to this day. Though, she's been missing for about 24 years now.. Everyone thinks she's long deceased, but something tells me she's still out there somewhere.. Silly, right?"

Lady Yaoyorozu had a longing look on her face as she spoke about that precious person of hers. Her eyes had a sorrowful glint to them as she clutched the fabric of her navy dress.

Glancing at Katsuki, I noticed how his eyes had widened as if he'd realized something.

"What was her name..?" He asked without hesitation.

The tone in his voice was desperate. I could tell that he had a lot of thoughts going on inside his head.

"Her name... It was a beautiful name befitting of her as she had such a bold and courageous personality; not to mention, a very sharp tongue as well." Lady Yaoyorozu paused as she couldn't stop a giggle from slipping past her lips. "Her name was Mitsuki. Fukisumi Mitsuki."

Katsuki stood completely quiet. His gaze had fallen to the floor as he'd grabbed his wrist in a grip, probably even too tight to be called firm.

"I see. She-.. She sounds like a great person. However, Fukisumi.. Isn't that some wealthy alpha family? Are they still active?"

His words were emotionless, which sent shivers down my spine.

"Katsuki..!"

Without thinking, I called his name to stop him from asking more questions that could expose us.

Just as his name left my lips, lady Yaoyorozu's eyes shot open.

"You're-.. I knew it couldn't be a coincidence.. You're a Fukisumi; Mitsuki's child... That means she's alive..?"

I cursed my carelessness and cleached my jaw, glancing at Katsuki who still remained silent.

Katsuki's POV:

Now we'd really fucked shit up..

I tightened the grip around my wrist, not sure of how to cope with the stress of the situation.

Suddenly, I felt Shōto's cold hand over mine, popping the mental bubble I'd created.

"I am. However, I'm begging you not to tell anyone about my existence. Please don't let my mom's hard work be in vain." I begged, bowing before her.

"Please lift your head, Katsuki-kun. My lips are sealed. Just knowing she's alive have brought me enough happiness and peace. I'll tell you this before I take my leave; the Fukisumis' are still in the game, so don't let your guard down. Shōto-kun; I wish for your happiness, as well as my daughter's. She's going to find someone fit for her, just like you have. Now, if you'll excuse me."

With that, she turned her heel and disappeared into the crowd.

"I feel sick.. I wanna go home."

Shōto gently kissed the top of my head.

"Sorry Katsuki, but we can't leave yet. We still have some things to do."

Lifting an eyebrow, I bit my lips nervously.

"Huh? What things?"

What other things could we possibly have to do? Even after spending so much time with him, I still couldn't quite figure out what he was thinking.

"It's a surprise. Follow me."

Hesitantly, I followed him as he made it through the crowd.

Eventually after a bit of sneaking through different corridors, Shōto stopped by a door pretty far inside the building. Not a single person had been seen during the last ten minutes. Shōto glanced around before pulling a key out of his pocket, unlocking the door with a click. He pushed the handle down, entering the room with me trailing right behind.

He closed and then locked the door behind us. The room was completely dark. I couldn't help but to suspect that he'd have something naughty in mind.

I felt a hand sliding down my back, and a pair of lips brushing against my neck.

"Shōto, we can't here.. We'll be caught. And what about the baby? It'll be fine right?"

I felt his lips meeting mine for a short moment before the lights were switched on.

In front of me stood Shōto with a sly smirk on his face, pointing his index finger at something behind me.

Confused I glanced over my shoulder, met by a pair of very familiar crimson eyes and a cocky grin.

"Mom?!"

The surprise in my voice was very obvious.

"Hey kid! I've missed you so much..!"

She hurried over to me, pulling me into a tight embrace which I didn't hesitate a second on returning.

A short while passed, and we finally let go of each other.

"Katsuki.. Are you pregnant..? You said something about a baby before..."

Suddenly, my words were like stuck in my throat. I couldn't say it. It was scary thinking about how she'd react if I told her the truth.

"He is. We're expecting a child together."

Shōto straight out told her about my pregnancy, a warm smile taking shape on his lips as he spoke.

"That's right, mom. I'm pregnant with my first child. I just found out the other day, and we've decided to keep it. However, I'm very happy despite being a bit scared. I want our kid to grow up with as much love as you gave me."

My mom's eyes teared up, her warm hand then stroking my cheek.

"You've really grown up so much.. Before we had to part, you'd always keep that constant frown and rotten attitude. I know I was the one behind your attitude, but the rest was clearly not my fault."

She paused with a soft laughter.

"What I'm trying to say is that you might be dumb and reckless, but you're the most stubborn brat I know. You'll make it through this. There's no doubt about it."

I cracked a smile listening to her encouraging words. My gaze traveled to Shōto who was nodding in agreement. I knew he was very relieved by my mom accepting our situation.

Everything about the reunion with my mom was touching. I was happier than ever to see her face.

However, our moment of happiness was ruined once I heard the sound of the door opening behind us.

((Hello everyone. I know it's been forever since the last chapter. To be honest, I almost decided to drop Destiny because of all the projects that has been added to my pile of work. However, I just couldn't when I finally logged into Wattpad again. I started reading the messages and comments when I realized how much some of you really hope for Destiny to continue. It warmed my heart. That made me decide to try my best by squeezing this story into my schedule, finally make up some kind of plan for it, and write this 16th chapter.

Thank you!))
