Todoroki's POV:
"Hey, what was that skull fracture you talked about before?"
I was honestly surprised at how calm he was, talking about it as if it was something normal that happened in your everyday life.
"Right.." I cleared my throat. "It was a depressed skull fracture, caused by a hard hit to the head. In your case, it was because of your head being hit against a wall. It's not very fatal if you treat it asap, but it can cause you to fall into coma for a very long time. In some cases, the patient never wakes up."
Pausing, I deeply inhaled.
"Luckily, yours wasn't fatal. Therefore you woke up in a rather short period of 5 weeks."
Katsuki looked relieved.
He brushed his hair back and faced his mother.
"I'll forgive you this time, ya hear me!?"
He growled with a pained expression, pointing his index finger at her.
She met his gaze and flashed him a cheeky smile, looking exactly like her son.
"Thanks, ya shitty brat!"
She ruffed his hair with tears gathered in the corners of her eyes.
Katsuki was of course pissed about her messing his already messy hair up, but in his eyes I found a small hint of happiness.
I watched as Mitsuki provoked him even more.
The feeling I got while looking at them was special. It kind of resembled the happiness I felt a very long time ago. How I wished I had treasured it more when it was still there.
All I could feel was a sting in my chest as I averted my eyes from them.
A family.. sounds nice.
~flashback ~
"Shōto-sama. Your mother is apparently in a very bad condition, won't you go see her?"
I glanced at the butler, giving him a cold stare.
"I don't have time for something like that, I have studies to do. Leave me."
He gasped and looked down.
"Only 10 years old and just as cold as Enji-sama, don't you dare ignore me you brat!"

His eyes filled with annoyance as he cracked his knuckles, making his way towards me looking like a member of the Yakuza.
..That was how he'd normally react. Now he only stood there looking down at the floor.
"I- I beg of you.."
Feeling a shiver down my spine, I cleared my throat.
"I see. Then, please take me to hospital, Kou.."
Tachibana Kousuke had served our household as a butler for 8 years, despite only being 24 years old.
He was the closest of a family I had, except for my oldest sister Fuyumi and mother who had been very sick for a long time now.
I was actually the youngest out of three siblings. Fuyumi, the oldest of us, was kind. She tried her best to take care of me and our brother, Natsuo, despite the fact that she was the one who suffered through most of the abuse. Natsuo always plotted on how get rid of our father for habitually directing his frustration on Fuyumi. He didn't really care about or know me very well as our father usually kept me isolated from my siblings because they were "useless" betas. He was proud of me, but only until I made a mistake. The punishment for making mistakes was usually a ruthless beating by my extremely strong father, which made me unable to see my household as a warm and cozy..
It was pretty much a daily war between my brother and father.
Natsuo intended to destroy my father by earning the seat of the company head, which I simply wasn't particularly interested in.
Kou followed me out to an already waiting car, and got in together with me.
Usually, he kinda tried to resemble the stubborn, caring older brother I used to have as a small child.
Now he seemed very stressed for some reason.
He didn't frown or nag at all. Rather, he didn't say a single word during the whole ride.
Before long, we were both standing in front of the entrance to the hospital.
He led me to the room where my mother had been laying for a long time.
My mother was told about her Glioblastoma four years ago, but before that, she'd been hospitalised at a mental hospital due to the severe depression that struck her six years ago due to the loss of my older brother, and she never came back from the depression.

Glioblastoma was an uncurable type of cancer, spreading from the brain.
Approximately only 3% of the people with Glioblastoma survived for more than 5 years.
Miraculously, she had survived as long as she had. Way past the predicted date, but her state kept wavering.
Once I entered, I heard a long beep and saw my siblings sitting beside the hospital bed, Natsuo holding moms hand.
"Fuyumi?"
She looked over at me, her eyes filled with tears. "Shō-chan..."
"Mother is..."
She burst out crying.
"Mother is gone, Shō-chan..!"
I felt my heart drop, my lungs refusing to pick up fresh air.
Shifting my gaze to make sure she wasn't lying, I saw my mother's pale, lifeless body.
"You're lying..! She's going to wake up soon. I-.. I know she will..."
I felt tears streaming down my cheeks.
I didn't want to realize the fact that one of the only three people I loved, had passed away the second I opened the door to see her.
Maybe it was my fault? What if I was some weird curse that only brought bad luck upon the people around me? Fuyumi, Natsuo, Tōya and now mom too...
Fuyumi approached me and pulled me into an embrace.
"Father.. He's horrible! He only told me to bid her farewell if she died.. This family is nothing more than a destructive mess..! I wish I'd never been born!"
After that evening, I only saw Fuyumi's face around twice a year.
She locked herself up in her room, never to come out of there unless it was absolutely necessary.
Kou quit his job shortly after mother's death as he was being worked so hard by my frustrated father, he got hospitalised.
I had no one left to love anymore.
At the age of five, I got to know that I was an alpha, which definitely changed things as I wasn't just an alpha; I was a dominant alpha.
My father who had been the only alpha in the Todoroki household, married my mother, an omega he shared no soulbond with. He married her because the possibility of them giving birth to an alpha child was 9,73%, which would mean 6,27% higher than others.
He tried four times which resulted in the birth of two dominant alphas, me and my oldest brother who was subtracted from the equation when I was only four years old.
After my father heard about me being an alpha, he immediately decided that the company I wasn't even interested in would be inherted to me once I'd turned 20.
Of course, that had Natsuo despise me so much he attempted to kill me at one point by strangling me, but he couldn't do it. Just when I was about to pass out, he let go of me and apologised, over and over again. That time, was the first and only time his gaze had met mine.
I grew up, got forced into an engagement with Momo-san, fucked a lot of people outside the engagement, partied, studied, started working after graduating and eventually I met Katsuki.
Our first meeting wasn't romantic at all; it was more like.. uncontrollable. I hated what the alpha instincts had forced me to do to Katsuki, but most of all, I really fucking hated myself for not having been able to prevent myself from committing the most horrible crime there was to commit. I really did that, and I did it to the person I wanted to cherish more than anyone else.
I was taught how to open up a bit, how to dig up the deeply buried feeling of having a family again; all thanks to having met Katsuki.
He played such a huge role in my life now, and he'd even move into my house once he was discharged from the hospital, which probably wouldn't take too long judging by how he was in high spirits already.
I quietly chuckled for myself.
What was awaiting me and Katsuki? I couldn't wait to find out.
((Heyo guys.
The chaper is finally out!
I'm so sorry for the long wait, but I hope you enjoyed reading some Todoroki Shōto's depressing backstory! ^w^))
