Let us offer them our hearts so that they can live peacefully, surrounded by love and care. We are not obliged to love everyone, but we have to be kind to everyone. What if you were the one who lost your home and had no place to go to? What would you wish for in order to feel better? The answer to those questions is what you should do to the ones who are actually living in those conditions. Never forget that you can never know why this person is so lost, nor why this person is so joyful. Everyone has a story, and every single story should have a happy ending.

Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.
