《The Secret Pack》Chapter Twenty-Seven

I carry my mate and carefully run to the hospital. I've already alerted the doctor to be ready for us. I reach the hospital and make a bee line to the prepared room for my mate. I'm greeted by nurses and they escort me to the room where I lay him down. I groan silently in pain when my mate grips my arm so hard. He groans, adding more pressure on the arm when I move to withdraw it.

"Hey babe, I'm not going anywhere." I coo softly and he slowly releases my arm. I hold his hand and brush off some of his hair that's sticking on his forehead. The scent of blood hits my nose and I scan my mate only to see blood on the bed and some even dripping down.

"W-why is he....is h-he supposed to bleed that much?" I stutter, too nervous to form a stable question as the blood reminds me of the last time I brought my mate at the hospital. We lost a child that day and I didn't want to think what this bleeding means now.

"No, he is not supposed to be bleeding this much." The doctor hurries to him leaving what he was doing. After checking him up, he immediately alert the nurses and they start running around the room. "Alpha I'm very sorry but you have to step out for a bit; we have to operate on your mate immediately or he may lose his life or the child's."

The doctor's words hit me like a brick of stone and I immediately hold my mate' hand. No way am I losing my mate and child. Not this time at least. I tell the doctor that I'll be in here with my mate and a nurse escorts me out to another room to give me a change of clothes as the others prepare my mate for surgery.

When I come back in the room I find that everything is ready and they will start the operation any minute. I hold Kacper's hand and stand beside his upper body part. A curtain is placed in between to keep me from seeing them cutting him up and even if I will smell his blood, I'm sure I can handle it. A tear rolls down his eyes and I quickly wipe it off. He looks at me and I give him an assuring smile, adding a bit pressure on his hand but releasing it quickly to avoid injuring him.

"El, Elijah-"

"Shush, babe. I'm here with you." I mumble, rubbing his hand and he gives me a weary smile.

"We are now ready to start." I hear the doctor's voice but my eyes are locked with my mate'. "Do you feel that Luna?" He asks and my mate gives a weak 'what?' making the doctor to start their work.

I watch the eyes of my mate and I see how beautiful they are. They might have lost a bit color due to the current events but they still are beautiful. I don't know how long I stand there just gazing in my babe's eyes until a high pitched cry sounds in the room. For a second, I glance at the curtain before me where the sounds are coming from then look back at my mate only to find his eyes closed.

I listen for his heartbeat and it sounds faint. I shake him to look at me but he doesn't open his eyes. The curtain suddenly gets off and I see the stomach of my mate already sealed shut by stitches. I see the wound is not showing any signs of healing and I look at the doctor in panic. I ask him why my mate is not healing.

"His body is weak and he lost a lot of blood and even though we gave him a lot of blood during the operation, I'm afraid that's why this is happening." He explains while doing this and that on my mate.

"You should go and see your son Alpha." I shake my head not wanting to leave my mate alone.

My mate's wolf links me and I look at his closed eyes with a doubt but she insists I leave so I do that. I first talked to Sheila, my mate's wolf, two weeks ago when he was pissed at me for not buying his favorite food. I was really shocked but got the hang of it quickly.

I leave the room with a nurse that escorts me to where my son is. On the way I meet Ashton and Chris making their way to where my mate is. I was still so worried when I left him but I'm a bit better now knowing he will be with them.

"Your son was born premature Alpha. The doctor there will explain more to you but the child needs you most right now." The doctor's words, like a broken record, they sound again and again in my head. I'm worried about the outcome but I still take strong strides to my son's room.

"This was a good time though not his due date to give birth but we think the incident earlier might have caused this. He seems to be the youngest of the twins you were expecting. But still, the damage is too much and it looks like early labor which I repeat, this wasn't." The nurse, Martha, explains the moment we enter the building where my son is.

We enter the room and I find Cadmael with a doctor and other nurses. They bow to me with greetings and I rarely acknowledge them at all. Cadmael asks them all to leave and he tells me to follow him. We reach the incubator where my child is in with so many things connected to his body.

"The hit that Kacper blocked affected the child's growth. I think the elder twin took most of the hit while protecting the younger one. It killed the child and also affected the other one. The growth process was slowed down resulting in the child not fully grown even if it was time to come out." He explains. I listen closely as I rub my chest when I feel like a pinch painfully and it slowly passes away. I move closer and check out my son for the first time.

"This will cause a lot of problems in his life and he has to fight a lot of infection due to this. But I also have good news for you Alph- I mean Elijah."

"What is it Cad?"

"His wolf, it's fully grown and normal for a child his age." He says happily.

"What do you mean?" I say and then I start rubbing my chest again when the familiar pain registers again.

"I mean his wolf is okay but only his human is premature. The wolf's growth was successfully done but the human growth is the one that has problems. I believe his human problems he might face, will be healed fully the moment he has his first change. " He explains and I can only nod.

"Thank you so much Cad." I whisper as a tear rolls down my face. I'm glad we have hope of him getting better than when I thought he had none. Now I know that my son is a fighter and a very good one at that. I will leave the naming to Kacper; for now he's just my son.

the doctor's voice, brings me back to reality and I run to the door while asking Cad to stay and at his assurance, I run to my mate. The doctor's voice wasn't that good and it got me worried.

I find my mate looking very pale and lifeless on the bed. The only reason I know he's alive is his faint heartbeat. I hold his hand and it's very cold.

"I'm sorry Alpha but we tried our best. Luna is not responding to the medicine I've given him. He stopped breathing twice and the last time he started breathing with the help of Ashton's magic." Chris explains sadly. So was that chest pain for each time he stopped breathing? Oh goddess! Please don't take him away from me.

"He will be fine though he might also not wake up. Just expect both good and bad to happen." He says and then walks out with Ashton after I receive a pat on the back by the witch.

I sigh and push a chair near the bed and sit down. I kiss his hands repeatedly and hold back my tears. This isn't the right time to cry and I promised to stay strong for him.

"I will never break my promises El. Never again."

I smile at his words and I know he really meant it. He promised me that he will be fine, so I will hold on to that.

Two weeks have passed and I'm still in the hospital. My babe hasn't waked up yet but I know he's getting better. His body started healing days ago and now I could feel the familiar warmth when I hold his hands. He also can move his fingers sometime and it just boost up my hopes. I can't wait to see his beautiful eyes the moment he opens them.

My son is still in the incubator and he's also changing a bit. Now and then, Cad would use his powers to fast up the healing process. When he's not here to do that, Ashton helps out. I'm so glad that my mate has friends like these who are always there when he's in need. Helping out our son is the most important thing and I'm grateful.

The other thing I'm proud of is how our family is united. Everyone has come together to help out in anyway even if it's just moral support. My mate's family and friends are here as well as my family. I don't have friends that much but I'm glad for anyone who showed up.

Though I'm a bit occupied, I still find time to check up on EJ. Being an alpha, he's growing up well and I know he will be a good brother to my son. He will protect him from any danger that will come his way and I will gladly help out. My son is not only going to have growth problems growing up but knowing he's an omega, he also has a lot to face emotionally.

"Hey uncle," Theo, who's sitting beside me in the hospital room of my mate speaks up. "I've got to go find something to drink. I'll be right back."

I give him a smile and a nod as he get up and leave. I sigh and lay my head on my babe's leg. I'm always talking to him when alone, as I tell him of everything that happens each day.

"Today I've also put on hold about the king issue. I told them I can't make any decision without you beside me. It's not just me who will be responsible for them all but you as well. I know you don't like what I did but I did it anyway, do you know why?" I ask with a smile. "It's because I want you to be mad at me, shout and yell. I miss your voice and I love hearing it that I don't mind whether you are shouting, yelling or moaning. As long as it's your voice, I will always listen to it."

"Really? I hope you like this voice too then." I hear my babe's whisper in a husk and deep voice making me sit up and lock eyes with his.
