《The Secret Pack》Chapter Seventeen

When? Where? How? What?

Frustrated with my lack of understanding, I leave the library and go back to my room so I can sleep.

I respond to Elijah, opening the door to the bedroom since I've already reached our room. I know him asking that, means the guards he put to watch me must have told him of my departure from the library.

He cut the connection and I sigh. I thought of this day going on nicely but things have gone the opposite. I don't even wish to touch that book again; it's just playing with my mind.

I hear the door to our room open and soon enough he is opening the bedroom door. I just close my eyes, hoping he will leave soon and let me cry out my frustrated tears.

"I won't disappear even if you don't look at me. I will always be here for you." He says and I can imagine him smirking at me.

"Whatever."

"I don't like that word." He states seriously and that has me opening my eyes. I nod at him and he smiles at me lovingly.

"So tell me what's wrong. I'm here to make it all disappear."

I scoff and sit up facing him. I search his eyes to see if he's serious and to make sure he won't laugh at me. It is hard for me to admit my not understanding of the book. I sigh and look down my hands while twisting them nervously.

"I don't understand." I pause and think of what is best to say to him. "I don't get the whole book. I mean, it just seems as if it's some fantasy novel and I thought I will be reading a book that will let me know more of your pack but not some novel." I explain.

"It's not a novel. It's our pack record and secret."

That has me opening my mouth and closing it again and again. I don't know what to say or ask him because my head has a lot of them. All that I've read is true? No way!

"No way!" I voice out my thought while shaking my head. It can't be true. He looks at me and then holds my shaking hands in his.

"I will tell you about it in a summary." I nod at him to continue and he clears his throat.

"Long, long ago........."

###

Long ago there was a ruthless man called James, but most called him Alpha since he was the leader of the Pearlite Pack. He had a son, Mikkel, who was a complete opposite of his father. Mikkel was the soon to be Alpha of his pack and his lack of bad behavior caused a rift between him and his father. He was a good man, he was responsible, had respect to other people and all the qualities of a good leader. Most of all, Mikkel believed in love.

In those days, it was hard to find a true mate and most wolves just mated anyone they wanted. Mikkel didn't want to mate anyone but his true mate. He refused to mate all the girls his father presented to him, which made his father's hatred for him increase tenfold. Mikkel searched for his true mate but was no successful until he was a grown man.

One day, on his many adventures to surrounding packs in search of his mate, he came upon omegas house. This was a place where all omegas where placed to live, only allowed leaving if they were purchased as a slave. It was not allowed for an Alpha to come to such houses but Mikkel couldn't shake off the feeling or the urge he had to enter the house. After checking to make sure no one saw him, he entered the house and looked for something which he had no idea what. When his eyes laid on a male figure, that was hunched on a corner, he knew it was not something he was looking for but someone.

So it was on that day, that Mikkel found his true mate, not just a male but an omega. He nursed his mate back to health in secret and mated him as his forever. When he was ready to show his father what his heart desired, he was disappointed because his father refused to have him lead his land with an omega. Mikkel's mother died a long time ago, so he had no one to back him up, for his younger siblings wanted him gone so they could have the pack to themselves.

Abandoned by his family and banished by his Alpha, Mikkel left the lands he knew since he was born and travelled away. No other pack could take them in because they all feared his father's wrath to fall upon them by having him in their pack. Mikkel had nothing to worry because he had his true mate with him and only looked for a place where they could happily live forever.

On their long journey of searching for a better place, they stumbled upon a huge land which miraculously was not claimed by any packs. It was a huge forest with thick trees and healthy animals. They wondered how a place this rich was not claimed; they called it a miracle and also their home.

Unknown to them, there was a reason why it was unclaimed. The land was a victim of drought which occurred after a year of fertility upon the land, for seven years. Many packs claimed it when they saw the richness of the land but always left once the drought starts, leaving it unclaimed for years.

They had lived for a few months in the land when the drought came. Having no other place to go, they still remained in the land with the little food they had. Mikkel recalled his mother's teaching of the moon goddess, who was the creator of their kind. She could always help the ones who asked from her and believed in her. It was his mother who told him of the gift the moon goddess gave to his kind, each and every one, a true mate. He believed there was a moon goddess because he now had a true mate, so why can't he ask for an end to the drought on the lands? So it was then that he began to pray to the moon goddess.

Time passed and they had nothing to eat. He was still praying, day and night, but nothing happened. His mate was dying and he had nothing to do to keep him alive. He left their cottage and run until he couldn't anymore. He fell down on his knees and cried.

"Why! Why are you not helping me? I've been calling out to you, all days and nights, but you've turned a blind eye and deaf ear on me. What have I done wrong that I have to watch my mate die on me. Please help me and save my mate before his last breath." He cried in the darkness, shouting to the still night.

"Please help me." He sobbed defeated.

Suddenly there was a light in the darkness. The moon came out of the dark clouds and shone brightly in the night. Mikkel looked up and saw a figure descending from the moon. The figure stopped above him and he saw a woman dressed in white and blue robes. She was beautiful and had long black hair and white eyes. Mikkel began to shake in fright at what was happening.

Her voice calmed him, it was a beautiful sound.

"Wh-who a-are you?"

He looked at the goddess above him and wondered how he could hear her voice but not even her mouth open. He somehow knew her words were true. She was indeed the moon goddess and she came there to help him.

"My mate," his voice came out in a whisper.

She paused and descended a bit. "Now tell me your other needs."

His heart calmed down after he heard about his mate not dying. He remembered all things they needed but couldn't get.

"This land is dying. We need this land to survive and live safely." He paused and she nodded at him to go on. "My mate is a male; we are not able to bear any children. Please bless us, bless my mate and give him the ability to have children." He added.

She paused and came down to him. She stood before him, without touching the ground, and extended her hands to him.

He took the seed she gave him and listened to her words.

She said and gave him a silver stone. "I will always watch over you, my child." With that, she ascended back to the moon and it remained shining.

He planted the seed and passed out due to exhaustion. When he woke up the next day, he was under a big tree and looking around, all he saw there were trees. He remembered his mate and run back to him. He found him collecting fruits in a tree that was near their hut. Running to him, he gave him a warm hug and thanked the moon goddess for saving him.

After sometime, the other omegas showed up with their mates and together they built a family and pack. There were only a total of eight omegas that came, since many packs killed their omegas at birth. Mikkel and his mate had a son, Trent, he was an omega. The silver stone was passed down in the blood line of Mikkel's family. Mikkel gave it to Trent and Trent gave it to his eldest son and the son to his son, the list goes on.

The stone did its job well, protecting the people. Only the kind man the goddess talked of, Joel, was able to find them but once he left to take his pack from their former land, to Mikkel's land, he never saw them again. Joel never found the man and his people again but he kept his word to never kill omegas and never cut the tree called 'life of the forest'. Him and his pack lived in the rich lands and protected it from evil packs. He also called it 'Kahuna' which meant 'Secret'.

"....and that, babe, is the summary of what is written in The Secret Pack book." Elijah finally says. But I still have a lot to to ask after all that.

"I have questions, Eli."

"Please do ask, I will answer and explain to you."
