"Hellooooo...earth to Violet?" Aisha said as she waved her hand in front of my face. "Sorry." I said as I came back to reality.

It's been a couple days since the guys and I went to the Biltmore. I haven't been able to sleep very well because my mind was constantly racing, trying to comprehend what we went through.

Every time I would go to sleep I would have the same nightmare. Me getting trapped in the elevator, it crashing, me seeing Daisy, her killing my parents, but them turning into Sam and Colby.

It terrified me.

"You look tired, are you doing okay?" Aisha asked as I grabbed my water bottle. "Yeah, just having a hard time sleeping." I said then took a sip of water as my pager went off.

I silently thanked the universe for pulling me away from this conversation because I was too tired to try and explain why I've been having sleeping issues.

I closed my water bottle then shut my pager off so I could go to the room I needed to go to. I painted a smile on my face then grabbed my cart and walked into the room.

"Hi, my name is Violet. I'm gonna check on that heart of yours." I said as the middle aged man scoffed. "YOU'RE doing the scan?" He asked as I tried desperately to not roll my eyes.

He was one of those patients.

"Yep! I'm gonna do it." I said and started to set up the machine. "Great. I get Malibu Barbie to tell me if I'm gonna die or not." He grumbled as I forced a smile on my face.

"My name is Violet." I repeated as he rolled his eyes. "I heard you, doll face." He said condescendingly as I silently set the machine up. I wasn't in the mood to deal with this kind of energy but it was my job so I had to just suck it up.

"Okay, just lay back for me." I instructed as he stared at me blankly. "You're seriously gonna do the scan?" He asked as I raised my brows. "Yes, unless you want to possibly die from a heart murmur because you care more about the gender of the person running your test." I snapped as his eyes widened. "Get me another nurse." He said as I scoffed.

"There is no other nurse. It's me or you go home." I said as he rolled his eyes. "Fine. Don't mess it up." He said then laid back. I did the test as fast as I could then reviewed his results. "Yep. You have a murmur. I'll send in Dr. Locke." I said then packed up my stuff and left the room.

"Hey! I was just looking for you." Sophia said as I made my way back to the equipment room. "What's up?" I asked and brushed a stray hair behind my ear. "First off, are you okay? You look frazzled." She said as I sighed. "Just dealt with a rude patient, I'll live. What's up?" I asked again as I plugged in my equipment cart.

"Oh! I was just gonna ask you to do your rounds then head out." Sophia said as I nodded. "Will do." I said then stretched my arms. "You doing okay?" Sophia asked as we walked down the hallway again. "Yeah, just a little tired." I said and grabbed one of the charts hanging on the wall. "Try to get some rest when you get home. I'll see you on Thursday." She said then parted ways with me.

I went through and did my rounds then grabbed my stuff and went to my car to go home. As soon as I got in the car I felt the exhaustion hit me. I knew it probably wasn't the safest to drive with how exhausted I was but I wanted to get home.

I decided to call Colby so he could keep me awake while I drove. It rang a couple times before going to his voicemail. I groaned slightly but started my car anyways. I knew he was probably just busy which was fine, he didn't have to be at my beck and call at every moment of the day.

I still didn't want to drive without talking to someone so I went through my phone and searched my contacts.

"Hello?" Ki answered as I started to drive home. "Hey!! Long time no talk. How are you?" I said as she chuckled. "Bro. Life is so annoying." She said as I nodded. "Tell me about it." I said and tapped my fingers on my steering wheel. "So what's been going on? How's LA? Are you still with Colby?" Ki asked as I brought my hand to my chest, tracing the scar that was raised on my skin.

"Um...well. I got shot in the chest. Colby and I are together still, and things have been good." I said as she gasped. "What do you mean shot in the chest?! What the fuck?!" She exclaimed as I chuckled. "Daisy found me and shot me in the chest I'm alive though." I said nonchalantly as she scoffed.

"You're crazy." Ki said as I shrugged. "Yeah, maybe a little. You should come visit though. Take a break from Steak 'n Shake. I think you'd like LA." I said as she laughed.

"You mean LA, home of the hot men? I would LOVE it there. You'd really want me to visit?" She asked as I nodded. "I really would. You've been such a good friend to me and we really haven't gotten to hang out in person. I think it would be fun." I said with a shrug as she laughed. "Let's do it." She said as i continued to drive home.

We ended up talking the whole way home, making plans for when she would come here. I was really happy that I met someone as nice as she was. I never expected that going to a random Steak 'n Shake in West Virginia would give me a new friend.

Once I got home I went inside, only to hear yelling and laughter coming from the kitchen. "Hello?" I called out as I closed the door. "NO!" Colby screamed as my eyes widened. "Colby?!" I yelled as I dropped my bag and rushed towards the kitchen.

I was almost there before Colby came rushing out, stopping me from going into the room. "What's going on?" I asked as he grabbed my upper arms, stopping me from walking. "Hey, baby. How was work?" He asked then gave me a quick kiss, ignoring the question completely.

"It sucked. Now tell me what's going on." I said then tried to turn towards the kitchen again. "Nothing! Why don't you go take a shower, you smell." He said as my jaw dropped. "Bro, what the fuck?" I asked with a laugh as he turned me towards my room.

"Yeah. Ew. Go." He said then gently pushed me as I rolled my eyes. I knew he was hiding something in the kitchen but I didn't feel like prying anymore. "You're an asshole." I said but started walking towards my room anyways.

"Love you!" Colby called out as I walked into my room. I shoved my hand out and flipped him off before closing the door. I wasn't actually mad at him at all and he knew it, that's just how our relationship was sometimes. I think that might have been my favorite part about it honestly.

Being too serious was boring.

I ended up getting in the shower simply to wake me up a little bit. I didn't have to work for a couple of days so I would probably take a sleeping pill or two and just knock myself out, but for now a shower was just gonna have to do.

When I got out, I felt way more refreshed and a little more awake. I combed through my hair then threw on some comfortable clothes. "Can I come out now? Or do I still smell?" I called out as Colby laughed from the kitchen.

"You can come in here, stinky." He said as I laughed and walked to the kitchen.

When I got in there Colby was standing there with Sam and Kat. On the kitchen island there was a plate of burnt steaks and a pot of runny mashed potatoes. "What's this?" I asked and pointed to the food.

"We tried to make dinner." Colby said sheepishly as a big smile formed on my face. "That's so sweet." I said as Kat laughed. "Yeeeeeah....we can't cook like you...clearly. We ordered postmates though." She said as I shook my head.

"What are you talking about? I'm eating this." I said and grabbed a plate, grabbing a piece of steak and a spoonful of mashed potatoes. "You really don't have to eat it, V." Colby said as I walked passed them and went to the table.

"I want to. You guys spent time making this, it would be rude to not eat it." I said then grabbed a forkful of mashed potatoes. When I took a bite they were super salty, and very runny but I could tell they really tried, so I was determined to eat all of it.

"Well, I'm eating chick fil a." Kat said as she and Sam left and Colby came to sit with me. "How is it?" Colby asked as I took another bite. "A little salty, but good." I said and smiled at him as he grinned at me. "Let me try." He said as I scooped another forkful of the mashed potatoes.

I brought the fork to his lips then fed it to him. He swallowed it then grimaced as I laughed. "Violet, that tastes like ass." He said as I shrugged. "It was made with love though." I said then winked at him.

Colby opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by Sam and Kat coming back into the room holding bags of chick fil a.

We all sat and ate our dinner, just enjoying each other's company. I eventually caved and ate a couple chicken nuggets but I really did try to only eat the food Sam, Colby, and Kat made.

"We're gonna go to the beach, did you guys want to come?" Sam asked as he and Kat stood up. "Now? It's like...11pm." I said with a laugh. "Yeah, nothing like a late night walk on the beach." Kat said as I looked at Colby. "I think we're gonna stay in." I said then stood up and collected the plates from the table.

"Okay! We'll see you tomorrow." Sam said then took Kat's hand and led her out of the kitchen.

"Wanna help me?" I asked then turned towards the sink. "You don't have to clean up, V." Colby said as I shrugged. "I want to." I said then turned the sink on. "You're so hot." He said and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me against him so my back was pressed against his front.

"I could say the same thing about you." I said as I focused on the dishes. "Even though I said you smell?" He asked as I laughed and turned the sink off, turning in his arms.

"Yep. You only said that so you could surprise me with dinner." I said as I wrapped my arms around his neck. "Dinner sucked though." He said as I shook my head and kissed him.

He immediately reacted to the kiss by growling slightly and pulling me closer to him. I couldn't help the moan that escaped my lips as he lifted me up on the counter and forcing my legs apart so he could stand in between them.

I gasped at the sudden action, giving him the opportunity to deepen the kiss. We continued to make out for a second before I pulled away, resting my forehead on his.

"Dinner was good..." I said then leaned in to whisper in his ear. "I'm ready for dessert though." I said then lightly bit his earlobe as he growled then pulled me closer, picking me up from the counter top, walking towards the stairs, causing me to gasp.

This was gonna be fun.
