"I have a good feeling about this one, babe." Colby said as I grabbed a black dress from my closet. "Yeah?" I asked as I turned to him with a smile.
"Yeah. They're gonna hire you on the spot." He said as I shrugged, "I'm trying not to get my hopes up." I said then pulled my shirt off so I could get dressed.
Today I was going on another job interview at a hospital. I didn't want to jinx it but I had a good feeling about this one also, even though it would probably end the same way it ended every other time.
"Will you zip my dress?" I asked and turned around holding my hair up. "Of course." He said then started to zip me up. Before he could finish though he leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on the back my neck causing me to smile.
"I'm gonna be late if we get into that." I said with a giggle as he finished zipping my dress up. "I know, I just can't help myself sometimes." He said as I dropped my hair, letting it cascade down my back again.
"How do I look?" I asked and turned around to face him. "Gorgeous as ever." He said with a grin. "Perfect." I said then reached for my bag.
"Sam and I have a shit ton of meetings today so I probably won't be home when you get back but I'll text when I'm out and we can go grab some dinner or something." He said as we walked towards the front door.
"Okay, have fun at your meetings." I said then checked my appearance one last time before giving Colby a quick kiss and grabbing my keys. "Good luck, baby. You're gonna do great." He said as I smiled widely. "I hope so!" I said then skipped to my car.
I played music on the way to the hospital to amp myself up. In the back of my head I was extremely nervous because I didn't know how I would react if I got rejected again.
I didn't want to think about it.
I pulled into the parking lot and went inside, feeling the butterflies in my stomach grow. I walked to the front desk and smiled at the man behind it.
"Hi, my name is Violet Richards and I have a job interview." I said as he smiled warmly at me. "Perfect! Come with me." He said and waved his hand for me to follow him to the back.
He led me to a room with a desk in it, "Sophia will be right in." The man said then left me alone in the room.

"You've got this, Vi." I said then looked around the little office. I smiled as my eyes found a small painting of a little bunny that was on the desk.
"Hi daddy." I whispered to myself as the door opened. "You must be Violet." An older woman said as I stood up and reached my hand out to shake hers. "That would be correct." I said as she smiled a warm smile.
"It's nice to meet you, my name is Sophia. I'm the head cardiologist here. I went over your resume and you have some impressive experience." She said and sat across from me picking up the resume that was placed in front of her.
"You worked as a echocardiologist for a year, while also being a trained nursing assistant?" She asked as I nodded. "Yes ma'am." I said as she nodded, "You also worked at a diner during this time?" She asked as I nodded. "Yes, on my off days at the hospital." I said as she smiled.
"Would you say you have a lot of drive?" She asked as I nodded. "I do. Ever since I was little I wanted to be the best at everything and I would work hard to get there." I said with a smile, remembering when I would practice ballet for hours on end so I could be the best in the class. I was literally 6.
"What are some of your weaknesses?" Sophia asked as I took a deep breath. "Sometimes I let my passion for things take over, leaving me emotionally imbalanced." I said choosing my words carefully.
"So you're saying you get too into your work which leaves you emotional? In what sense?" She asked and looked at me intently. "I shut down sometimes. I get too focused on working hard that I forget to just breathe sometimes." I said as she nodded. "Okay, I think I've heard all I needed to hear. I'll let you know." She said as my heart sank.
I thought everything was going well, but I guess not. "Okay, thank you for your time." I said and stood up, reaching for her hand. She smiled and took it, shaking it before giving it a little squeeze.
I smiled then turned and left the room. I could feel the frustration boiling in my chest as I slowly made my way to my car.
When I got in I groaned and hit my head on the steering wheel, leaving it there as I groaned. I knew I wasn't technically rejected but 'I'll let you know' basically means 'nah we're good.'

I decided to give Kat a call since I knew both Sam and Colby were busy right now. "Hey girl, what's up?" She answered as I started my car. "Hey, what are you up to?" I asked as she sighed. "I'm bored out of my mind. What about you?" She asked as I started driving home.
"Just got done with a job interview." I said with a sigh. "Oh! How'd it go?" She asked as I sighed. "I thought it went well but I still don't think I got it." I said with a frown as she sighed.
"I'm sorry, V. Did you want me to come over?" Kat asked as I tapped on the steering wheel. "If you want to. I know Colby and I are gonna go to dinner, but that means Sam will be free when we do that." I said as she giggled. "Okay, I'll be over in ten." She said then hung up.
I breathed a laugh as I pulled into the driveway. I went inside and passed Corey making tik toks in the living room. "Ooooo you look nice, where were you?" He asked as I chuckled. "Getting rejected." I said as he scrunched his brow. "By a dude? I'm telling Colby!" He said as I shook my head.
"No. By a hospital, I'm not cheating on Colby." I said with a laugh as he breathed a fake sigh of relief. "Good. I'm sorry you got rejected again." He said and opened his arms for a hug. "I didn't technically get rejected yet but it's coming." I said with a sigh as I let him hug me.
"Keep your head up. Maybe they're just playing hard to get." He said as I nodded. "Maybe." I said then turned to go to my room.
When I walked into my room there were flowers on the bed causing me to roll my eyes at how mushy romantic Colby was.
I changed into comfortable clothes then sat on the bed and picked up the little note that was next to the flowers.
No matter what happens, I'm proud of you. -C.
I smiled and smelled the flowers as someone knocked on the door. "Come in!" I yelled then stood up with the flowers in my hand.
"He-aww! What are those?" Kat asked as I smiled. "Colby got them for me." I said then smelled them again. "That's so cute! I wish Sam would buy me flowers." She said as I walked out of the room to get a vase for them.
"I'll tell him to buy you some, he has to listen to me.
I'm his roommate." I said as she laughed, "you don't have to. I'll just live vicariously through you." She said as I grabbed a glass cup and filled it with water since I lived with a bunch of dudes who didn't have any vases.
Kat and I just hung out for a while, watching TV and just chilling out. I kept anxiously checking my phone hoping to receive a call from Sophia, but so far I've gotten nothing.
After a couple hours of hanging around Sam and Colby finally came back. "Hey, how'd it go?" Colby asked as I stood up and walked over to him. "I think I'm getting rejected again." I said as he wrapped his arms around me. "I'm sorry, baby." He said and kissed my head as he rocked me side to side.
"It's okay, thank you for the flowers." I said with a smile as he grinned. "You're welcome. Did you still want to go to dinner?" He asked as I nodded. "Yeah, I'd love to." I said then skipped off to my room.
As I was getting dress I heard my phone start to ring. I didn't even bother looking at the caller ID before I put the phone to my ear.
"Hello?" I answered as my heart started beating out of my chest. "Hi, Violet?" A female voice sounded through the speaker. "That's me." I said with a grin, "Hi, this is Sophia from the Greens medical center. I just wanted to offer you the position of a full time echocardiologist." She said as I pulled the phone away from my ear and did a happy dance.
"Yes! When do I start?" I asked and with a wide grin as she chuckled. "We'll have you start next week. You'll have to go through an orientation and do some paperwork. I'll email you the documents that you'll need to fill out. We're excited to have you on the team." She said as Colby came into the room.
"Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to it." I said then hung up. "What's going on?" Colby asked as I attacked him with a hug.
"I did it! I got a job!" I yelled as he wrapped his arms around me.
