《Lucky》45

I woke up in Colby's arms, which was quite possibly the best feeling ever. I had slept like a rock, which was something that hasn't happened in so long.
Maybe I could get used to this, maybe I could just pack up and move to LA.
I sighed at the thought then carefully slid out of his embrace. I walked to the kitchen and made a cup of coffee, being careful to not wake Colby up.
He looked so peaceful as he slept. His arms were still open as he laid on his side, hiding his face into the couch cussion. I smiled at him for just a second before grabbing a blanket and my coffee, then going out to the patio.
The sun was shining, casting light onto the fresh coat of snow. I smiled as the world twinkled with glitter, it was possibly my favorite sight to see.
I didn't know if I would be able to give it up. Was it worth it to flip my life upside down again for a guy? Was it worth the risk? We didn't even know if we would work out or not.
I knew that he made me happy though, possibly the most happy I had ever been. When we were together it felt like our souls were made for eachother, as if we were meant to be together. I couldn't understand why, but I knew I had to be with him.
I heard the door open causing me to turn towards it. "Morning." I said quietly as he came up and sat down next to me. "What are you doing out here?" He asked as I took a sip of my coffee. "Thinking." I said quietly as I pulled my blanket over my shoulder a little more.
"Thinking about what?" He asked and pulled his hood over his head. "Moving." I said then looked over at him as a smile bloomed on his face. "You want to move?" He asked as I shook my head.
"I don't know...I want to be with you, I really do..but this place is everything I've ever wanted." I said then looked out towards the mountains again.
"When I was a kid, my parents took me to Denver for a family trip. We went skiing and hiking and it was the most fun I had ever had. My parents told me they wanted to eventually retire here." I said with a laugh.
"They wanted to grow old together and live in the mountains. They died young though." I said as Colby took my hand. "Ever since, I've wanted to live here. I wanted to do what they couldn't. So Daisy and I packed up our stuff and came here." I said and frowned.

"I think that's why she had so much resentment towards me. I took her away from everything she knew." I said quietly as he caressed my hand with his thumb.
"She didn't have to move with you." He pointed out as I shook my head. "You're right, she didn't. She was my best friend though. We did everything together, so she wanted to come with me." I said and chewed my lip.
"I feel at home here. I didn't want to stay in Ohio, I didn't want to stay where they were killed. I wanted to come here, where they wanted to retire." I said and looked over at him finally. "I don't know if I can leave." I whispered as he nodded.
"I understand, Vi. I really do...but are you happy here? With Daisy being gone, are you happy?" He asked as I shook my head. "No...I'm not." I whispered as tears stung my eyes.
"Your parents wouldn't want you to be tied down to a place that didn't make YOU happy." He said as I clenched my jaw. "You don't know what they would want." I said as he sighed.
"Not them specifically I guess but I know if I had a kid, I wouldn't want them being trapped in a place where they weren't happy. I would want them to follow where life takes them." He said and brought my hand to his lips.
"I would want them to follow their heart." He said as I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. "Okay. I get it." I mumbled then looked at the time. "I have to get ready for work." I said then stood up, dropping his hand.
"I work at the diner today so you can come with if you want." I said as he nodded. "I want." He said as I grinned. "Get ready then, I don't want to be late." I said then bent down and kissed his cheek before going inside.
I got my outfit on which consisted of black pants and a black button up shirt, then pulled my hair into a ponytail. I grabbed my apron and book then put my shoes on and went out to the living room.
Colby was standing there in black jeans with chains hanging on them with a black sweater and black leather jacket. I grinned at how attractive he looked then walked up and grabbed my keys.
"Let's go." I said then grabbed his hand and walked to my car. "If I did move to LA how would I get my car there. I'm not getting rid of it. It's my baby." I said and rubbed the steering wheel. "I guess we would have to road trip it." He said with a grin as I started driving.

The idea of going on a roadtrip honestly sounded so fun. I could already see us bickering about what music to listen to, or what snacks to get. The idea of it alone made me want to do it.
"We'll see." I said then drove to the diner. I still couldn't believe Colby was really here, and that he flew all this way just to make up with me. It felt like I was in some sort of dream that I would wake up from.
When I pulled into the diner parking lot Colby chuckled, "This place is cute." He said as I chuckled, "Yeah, real cute. I hope you like eggs and waffles." I said then got out of the car. "I'll eat anything you're serving." He said then took my hand.
We walked through the doors and saw Regina standing at the hostess stand. "Hey Vi, oh! Is this your boyfriend?" She asked as I looked at Colby. "It's complicated." I said then looked at the chart in front of her so I could see what section I was going to be in.
"Okay, come on." I said then pulled Colby towards my section so he could sit. "Be good." I said with a laugh as I set a menu down on the table. "Always." He said then sat down.
I walked away from him so I could get clocked in and set up. "So what do you mean, complicated?" Regina asked as I sighed. "He lives in LA, we were dating long distance then broke it off, he came here to win me over and try to get me to move to LA with him." I said as she nodded.
"Are you gonna do it?" She asked as I shrugged. "I want to, but there's a few factors I have to take into account. Like you. You're about to move in, I can't leave you hanging." I said as she laughed. "We can just get the lease switched over to me and I can find a new roommate." She said as I looked at her with confusion.
"You would be okay with that?" I asked as she nodded. "Yeah, if a guy is willing to fly thousands of miles to convince you to move, then he's gotta be in love with you. You HAVE to do it, V." She said as I sighed, "You think?" I asked as she nodded. "Yes. Plus he's hot as fuck. If you don't do it then I will." She said as I chuckled and walked back to Colby's table.
"You know I really like that outfit on you, V." Colby said as I rolled my eyes and laughed. "Oh shush, what did you want to eat?" I asked as he grinned. "Not sure, whatever you think is the best." He said then handed me the menu. "Alright, I'll be back then." I said then walked to the computer to type his food in.
"Hey, Vi." Jarrod said as he came over to me. "Hey!" I said with a smile. "You're in a good mood." He said with a laugh as Regina giggled, "Her hot ass boyfriend is here, that's why." She said as Jarrod's jaw clenched.
"What?" He asked as I took a deep breath. "Colby came to visit." I said as he shook his head. "Are your fucking kidding me, Vi? You seriously let that asshole back in your life?" He asked angrily as I took a step back.
"He's not an asshole, now calm the fuck down." I said as he shook his head. "You're acting dumb, Violet! He hurt you!" He yelled as I looked over at Colby. He was looking in our direction with concern on his face.
"He didn't hurt me, J. I'm the reason this happened. Now calm the fuck down." I said as his face turned red. "You're a slut, Violet. You're a slut and you're a liar." He said then took a step towards me.
I was never afraid of Jarrod before, but in this moment I was.
"I'm not a slut or a liar." I said quietly as he grabbed my non casted wrist. "Ow! You're hurting me." I said as Regina gasped. "Jarrod, stop!" She said as I saw Colby rushing over to us with an angry look on his face.
"Let go of her." He said as Jarrod looked up and laughed at him. "You don't tell me what to do." He said as I wimpered at how hard he was holding my wrist.
"Jarrod, calm down." I said as Regina ran off, probably to go get a manager. "I am calm." He said as I tried to pull my arm away.
"Let go of her." Colby repeated with more venom in his voice. "What are you gonna do?" Jarrod asked with a laugh as Colby balled his fists up.
"Nothing. He's gonna go sit down and you're gonna calm the fuck down. Why are you acting like this?!" I asked feeling the annoyance bubble in my chest as Jarrod and Colby stared eachother down.
"Because I love you." He said as Colby's jaw clenched.
