《AN UNEXPECTED ENCOUNTER》CHAPTER 1

[A/N: This story would be written from a third-person's point of view. I just wanted to try so here it is]
-------
"Today's weather in California, the sun's high and the maximum temperature will reach 73°F and the minimum temperature would be 52°F. A perfect day for..................."
The weather forecast went on the radio while the air filled up with the thick aroma of toasted bread with butter. The pitch of fork whisking the eggs along with the sizzling sound of bacon cooking on the hot pan gave so many vibes of typical American mornings. And it was also the typical morning in the Knight household. Today was Easton's turn to make breakfast as he stayed over last night at his parents' house.
The youngest lady of the house slowly stepped down the stairs with her little toes. Her long brown hair, just like her elder brother's, stood in every possible direction. She lazily rubbed the sleep out of the eyes as her blurred vision become clear and she saw her brother standing at the cooking counter. An instant smile tugs on her lips as she fastens her pace towards him.
Easton stood there, shirtless, while a pair of sweatpants hung low of his waist showing off his well-toned eight packs body which was bathed under the sun of California. His tattooed biceps flexed as he flips the pancakes on the pan. His ears perk up at the sound of the silent footsteps of the little monster. A mirrored smile pulls on his lips while he notices the sound coming nearer. He put a step back from the stove to be safe.
The little girl latches onto his legs and grasps them tight. "Oww. That hurt, Elena" Easton fakes, while all that grasp would do is tickle him. Elena tightens her grip letting out a cute giggle. "ow, ow, ow" Easton turns off the stove and scoops the monster into his arms. "There, you little" he begins tickling the girl while she starts giggling louder, well louder enough to wake up their other siblings.
"Too loud in the morning, brother." Elias, the third oldest sibling, groans. He settles down on the couch and falls to the right immediately so that he is now all curled up.
"It's thirty past seven, Elias. You got school in an hour" Easton declare putting her five-year-old sister down and telling her to take a bath and wait for him to get her ready. Elena obediently runs to her room to take a bath on her own. Easton walks to his younger brother and ruffles his bed head. "I'll drop you off in my car today if you get ready in twenty minutes" he whispers in his brother's ear.

"Really?" Elias sits straight up with all sleep gone.
"Uh-huh," Easton smiles, while he watches his trick working.
"Yes! I love you, brother" he gives the eldest a hug and rushes to the room he shared with his other older brother.
Elias opens the door and finds a full and neatly dressed Ezra standing tall and straight to head out. "Good morning, Ezra" he greets quickly and dashes to the bathroom without waiting for a reply.
"Morning, Easton" Ezra greets, as he steps out of the room and walks to the kitchen.
"Morning, Ezra. I see you are all ready, as usual," Easton comments feeling proud to watch his brother be such disciplined. If Easton loved anything other than his family, that was "discipline". He could oversee his younger siblings acting like the kids they were but not anyone else. His patient radiated only in the house and only towards his siblings.
Though Easton could turn a blind eye to his family being spoiled, Ezra didn't take any of that. He was everything his brother wanted a seventeen-year-old to be. He woke up early in the morning, made breakfast in his parents' absence, took good care of his younger siblings when Easton couldn't. He, in short, was his elder brother's carbon copy.
"I am" Ezra retorts and keeps it short. Ezra was known in the whole pack to be very quiet. He never interacted with anyone. He loved his own company and hence he was never fond of being an alpha. He, by birth, was an alpha but he could never fight his brother and take over the pack once he's eighteen. He respected and loved his brother too much to do any of that. But, only he did know that he would be given the throne if Easton couldn't find his mate this year.
An alpha without a luna wasn't worthy enough to rule.
The rest of the family get downstairs for breakfast while Easton and Ezra discussed the pack business silently as they plaited each of Elena's braids. "I smell some delicious pancakes" Aurora rush to the table with her husband tagging along.
"That's 'cause brother made it, mom, not you" Elias comments making the table burst out in laughter.
"Not you talking to my mate like that" Austin retorts holding his mate by the waist and glaring at the pup.
"Yes, honey. Tell that dork" Aurora narrows her eyes towards her youngest son.
"But, honey, he is right though" Austin breaks out into a grin as the table erupts into laughter again. Aurora starts hitting Austin playfully on the shoulder. "Ow! That hurts, honey"

"It was meant to!"
The breakfast goes by like any normal breakfast in the Knight household. With the idiot couple fighting over silly stuff, Ezra helping Elena with the toast to Elias gushing about the new car model that came into the market to Easton. After a whole loud breakfast, Easton decides to drop everyone at the school.
Easton quickly rushes upstairs to change into something appropriate. He chooses a half-sleeved white shirt that hugged his biceps tight and let his wolf tattoo show. He randomly picked out a pair of black trousers to go with it.
"As handsome as always" his mom comments as soon as he steps into the hall.
"Maa" Easton smiles towards his mother and slips into her awaiting arms.
"No matter what, we are here" his father claps on his shoulder while Easton nods his head.
The strongest alpha known in the states was just as much of a son as any other. Everyone knew the thought of having no mate haunted him day and night and was making him weak with every single day gone. But, he was fulfilling his duty for the pack. For his family.

Elena gets seated in between Elias's legs, in the front seat as he goes on and on about the new car his elder brother is dropping them off in. "You know, brother, this car was ranked number one in last month's ranking. Its engine is 2987 to 6417 cc, it gives mileage up to 12.8 kmpl. It's the best" Elias exclaims while his sister played with his hands.
"I know, I know, Elias. You were the one who suggested to get this car last week and intrigued me with the same information" Easton remarks as the twelve-year-old let out a grin.
Ezra smiles behind the book he's reading in the backseat, as he hears the duo chat over their love for automobiles. Easton parks the car at Elena's school as the little one greet goodbyes to her brothers and rushes inside. After dropping off Ezra and Elias at Wolf's high, Easton takes up the ride to the packhouse.
"Morning, Easton" Duncan, the beta, and Easton's only friend in the pack greets as soon he gets out of the car. There stood a huge mansion with six floors in total and n number of rooms. Kids and omegas played in the place in front of the house. While the soldiers did the training to the right. The youngsters of the pack were all gone to the school so it wasn't as noisy as always.
This huge packhouse was built for the pack to live in. But, if they weren't comfortable living here they could always have their own house within the pack lands.
"Morning, Duncan" Easton greets back and rolls up his shoulders. It's time to leave back the loving brother and son in the car and get to the business. "Any disturbance?" he addresses his beta in the alpha voice.
"None, Alpha" Duncan replies with a nod. "You did receive an invitation from the Black Woods' alpha for the coronation ceremony of his son"
"He's an important acquaintance. We can't skip it, when would that be?" Easton asks walking towards his office. The pack members acknowledge his ominous aura with a bow and greet. He greets back with a nod to keep it simple and acknowledged.
The Easton with his family and the Alpha Easton were two different persons. No one in the pack would believe you if you ever said you saw him smiling. They have never seen the alpha smile and were pretty sure they never will. It was all good 'cause he was born to be tough, to be the alpha of the biggest pack in California.
"That would be on Wednesday, Alpha" Duncan answers with a neutral tone. Duncan was the same age same as Easton and was still mateless. Unlike Easton, he wasn't threatened for his position by the elders. Easton was warned either to find his mate or step down from the position until Ezra's eighteenth birthday, which was on Saturday, this week.
"Will do. Clear up the schedule for that day and prepare some good present for the future alpha" he orders making his beta nod in understanding. "I heard he is in the same class as Ezra, ask him what the future alpha would like" Easton declares going through the paperwork on his desk.
"Alpha, I- h-how?" Duncan hesitates.
Easton closes his eyes and looks up from his papers. "Until when will you avoid him, Duncan? He possibly will be your alpha starting Saturday. Come on, man. You guys used to be so thick, back in time. You know, that you are the only one who could get him out of his shell"
"But, Easton, I am his-"
"So what if you are his mate, Duncan. He will come to know that, this Saturday. Until when were you planning to hide? It's been three years already" Easton let out. "Are you perhaps ashamed of my brother?"
"What? No. That's ridiculous. I love him, always have" Duncan confesses making Easton roll his eyes.
"Too much of unwanted information. Now get to work" Easton resumes working on the paper with a smirk on his lips as Duncan blush furiously.
"Yes, Alpha"
