《Wrap Me in Gold ; Reader X Midas (Fortnite)》Chapter 4 | Sense of Comfort

You look at the man in front of you, frozen in your spot you struggle to find words to come out of your mouth. Thankfully, he filled in the awkward silence void for between you too. "Please, have a seat." He mentioned his left hand towards to the empty seat in front of him, folding his arm back together.
Damn was he hot. More than that! Sexy, handsome, beautiful, anything of those words times a hundred! His dark colored hair slicked to the side, his magnificent facial bone structure fitting him so damn well, jawline chiseled to the max, tattoos going up and down his neck driving you crazy as it couldn't fit anyone else but him and only him. Last but certainly not least, his eyes. Beautiful sparkling gold sitting to the left of his blind eye having a scar dragged upon it. That was it, the scar, it suited him so well, not to mention a scar can always make a man look 10x hotter but him, you knew no one else could pull it off like him. His eyes had that dead bored look but it made him look dark and dangerous, something you really liked about his appearance. Quickly snapping out of your thoughts, you made your way to the chair next to him.
You awkwardly eyed around the room not knowing what to say or what to do, but before you had to courage to say something, he spoke before you. "Tell me why you're here." He looked straight through you, as if he was trying to read if you were going to lie or not. "I- um, I honestly don't know.. I don't know how I even managed to get here..on this island." You looked up at him but quickly broke eye contact as you felt shy and awkward that someone as beautiful as him could look at someone as average looking as you. "You mean to tell me that you don't know where you are?" he shot you a confused look. "No, I do! I just, don't know how I got here.. if that makes any sense." You could barely explain yourself! You felt stupid, thinking that he might feel as though you are! "Not exactly, but, Rook managed to tell me that you somehow woke up in weeping woods? Care to explain that or what you can remember?"
You tried to think, you were home trying to play the damn game, and now you're in it. Theres just nothing else! It sounds beyond unbelievable. 'Do they even know where you're from? Earth? The real world? Do they know they're in a game simulation?' You wanted your own questions to the be answered but maybe he can help you with that.
"Well, I don't really know how I ended up there.. But I remember being home and trying to play this game..The one I'm in right now!" you began as he nodded, indicating that he in fact knew that they were in a game simulation. "and well, my screen glitched and I saw black. Next thing I knew, I woke up in weeping woods." You sounded crazy! What if he thinks you are crazy and throws you out not wanting to waste anymore of his time?! "So what you're saying is that you somehow transported from your real world, to hear?" He reviewed. "Yeah, sounds crazy but imagine how I feel about it." He read your face for a few seconds, thinking. "Interesting, I've never had anything like this happen before. So you have no contact on how to get home, no source of shelter, or money?" He asked as if it wasn't already obvious. "Nope, practically homeless...in Fortnite.." You couldn't believe that sentence came out of your mouth, and that you meant it!

He hummed in response. "How about this, you can help me around here with my work and in return I one, have you stay somewhere nearby. Two, make sure you get your daily necessities including food. And three, somehow find a way for you to get back home?" Would he really be willing to do that? It's a lot to ask for but, if he was the only person offering then you have no other choice than to take it. "Oh- uh, are you sure? That's a lot in return for your part, you don't even know me!" You felt bad and upset that it just might be pity that you're homeless, for now. "Trust me, I see potential in you and I wanna help you, I enjoy helping others and I know better than to let a lady like you out by yourself with no one to make you're okay." You blushed a little bit at his helping words. It comforted you, a lot. 'wow' you thought 'handsome and a whole ass gentleman?!'
"I just don't wanna be in the way of your work. I assume that you're a busy man so I don't want to be the cause of you not completing your work, sir." "That's why I have a lot of people helping me around here, people like you, soon to be that is." He made clear. "Oh and how rude of me, My name is Midas, and yours is?" "Y/N." you smiled. "It's a pleasure to meet you Y/N, and to have you around helping me." He shot a quick smile. "You too, but don't you already have a lot of workers here to help you? Like, Rook?" "Rook is just one of my helping workers, she mainly helps out with the henchmen and taking any orders I have for her." He made clear. "So then what exactly will I be doing?" "Think of it as an assistant kind of, I've been needing one for sometime now but I already assigned my workers, like Rook, a job already. So now that you're here I figured it'd be a good opportunity for the meantime while you're here until we find a way to get you back." You felt a smile come across your face. You were going to help him while he helped you, maybe he wasn't the bad guy you thought he was behind the screen.
"So what do you say Y/N, are you willing to take the offer? I don't usually do this type of stuff, ask anyone around here. I'm a busy man who doesn't have the time to set meetings to hire new people, so thank Rook for dragging you here." You realized how quick it was to get this offer, you got here 30 minutes ago, but he did say that he saw potential in you so you assume that's what might have struck him. "It'd be an honor to work with you." You smiled big making eye contact with him. Damn his good looks really wooed you over, how could you not work for him. Maybe you'll get to know him more and how important he is and why they called him a 'mastermind'.
"You've made the right choice,Y/N." He smiled
"I hope I have, sir" You smiled. You couldn't believe this. You just got here and one of the first few people you meet is the character you had a minor crush on, in an unrealistic because he's in a game type of way. But now you're here, right in front of him, everything was moving too fast. What now? You happened to get hired in a matter of an hour being inside this game by Midas himself. Where are you gonna stay? "Where exactly am I going to stay? I-if that's not too much to ask for!" You said, scared that you're pushing it and asking too much. He thought to himself before saying "Perhaps I can have you stay at house or a hotel. Your choice, I can get it done quickly and easily, darling." You instantly blushed harder than ever by the nickname he threw in that sentence. You didn't want him to notice so you pulled it off by quickly looking to your right right before turning your head down, fiddling with your fingers. 'Stop it idiot. He's just being nice dumbass.' you cursed at yourself. "Well I feel like staying at a house by myself is too much to ask for.." He was already giving you a lot, starting off with a job and providing necessities when you defiantly didn't deserve any of it.

"Don't stress about it, I do this type of gesture when anyone in connections of me is in need of it." He stated as he shook his head. You took a while to think about which option you want. You thought about the hotel down at Lazy Lake but, having a place all to yourself isn't bad either. "Well, in your perspective, which do you think is best?" You asked. "Hmm, there's a nice hotel up at Lazy Lake or apartments down in Sweaty Sands that you may be familiar with. But, the downside is that both of them are quite the trip whereas you can have a place to yourself right down the path at Salty Springs or Pleasant Park, but don't let that stop you from picking your choice of housing, Ms. Y/N." He said. You sat there, thinking which would be best for you and why. He was being very patient waiting for your answer when you then made your decision. "I'd like to choose a housing at Salty Springs." You confirmed with a slight smile. You liked Pleasant Park because there's more houses to be near, and some picnic tables to sit at and enjoy the fresh air. Thinking more about it, Salty is right there next to the water so you wouldn't feel rushed to get to the agency when needed.
"Okay, very well. There happens to be an open house there waiting for someone like you to take it. I'll have my henchmen escort you out and take you there. It's already furnished so you don't need to worry about a bed or any other household needs." He finished. You couldn't help but smile at the huge gesture he was giving you, all in return of you working for him as an assistant. "Thank you so much, sir. This means a lot." "Please, just call me Midas." you nodded your head, but you knew that you were still going to call him 'sir' you were respectful and you wanted to keep it that way in a work environment especially to someone who's your boss. "Your first day begins tomorrow, assuming that you have nothing to do upon your odd arrival in our gaming system." He said. "Sounds good! What time should I arrive?" You asked for reassurance. "Come through the front doors of the agency by 7am. We get start work first thing in the mornings." He started, "By then, you will be introduced to my main agents as they get into our first meeting of the day. I'm sure they'd be pleased to meet you since you will be around for sometime considering that you'll be by me at most times being my assistant." He made clear.
Him telling you that the other agents would be 'pleased' to meet you made you feel more comfortable and warm inside. You sat up as a knock on the door could be heard making both yours and Midas' head turn. "Come in!" Midas invited in. "Sir, Rook informed some of us henchmen that you may need help escorting a guest?" He asked as I'm standing there awkwardly, clearly being the guest that he's talking about. "Yes, perfect timing" He clapped his hands together, locking them in place. "Escort Ms. Y/N to the open house next door at Salty Springs." He ordered. You began to walk out with the henchman before Midas spoke up once more. "Oh, and be a gentleman and make sure that she gets inside the house safely. I don't want you leaving until she closes the door. That's my new assistant in your hands." He warned. Your cheeks slightly heated up as he cared for someone new like you much, then again 'I'm sure that he cares for a lot of his workers/agents.' you thought to yourself. You waved at Midas on your way out as he nodded his head shortly before he followed you out halfway through to close the door, finally returning to the work on his desk.
You assumed that you would be going back into the helicopter since that's their wealthy asses way of transporting around here. You made your way toward the helicopter before being interrupted by the henchman escorting you. "Miss, this way please." he stuck his arm out gesturing to the dock right next to the helipad that you were mistakenly walking towards. "Oh- sorry.." you said embarrassed quickly walking to get next to the henchman, you always had your dumb airhead moments. Midas chuckled lightly as he saw her mistake, sitting on his chair head slightly turned to look out at the window checking to see if everything was going to plan before turning his head back to the many papers in front of him.
You arrived at Salty in a boat before getting off, following the henchman as he led you towards your new temporary home. You followed him to a light gray house next to a gas station. You've been here a few times playing with your friends a few times, but you never landed here being scared of everyone else deciding to land her causing too many gunshots and chaos you could barely handle. "This is where you'll be staying. Please, if you ever need anything, there's an extra boat by the bridge down there to get to the agency, here are the keys." He informed you as he handed over a pair of small keys for the ignition. "Thank you," you kindly smiled "Will you be taking me to the agency tomorrow morning or will I have to drive the boat myself?" You asked. "Whichever works for you ma'am, do you prefer having one of us pick you up at 6:45, or you take yourself with no worry of waiting on us arriving?" You thought about it, you don't even know how to drive a boat in the real world, how do you expect yourself to drive in a game? You didn't want to accidentally shoot a missile. "I'd definitely prefer you guys coming to escort me to work." You finalized. "Very well, have a good night miss, Y/N." he nodded. Exchanging a goodbye, you walked to the door that was already unlocked, walking right in closing it behind you. You walked to a nearby window to look outside where you signaled a thumbs up for him to leave. You turned to the kitchen table where a pair of keys sat at, next to it a note.
"To whomever is assigned to live here, welcome to your new home. Enjoy. -Midas"
