Meanwhile...
Midas slowly opens his eyes as the light fades away, finding himself in the middle of an empty battlefield. The area was dark, gloomy with rain pouring down from the stormy clouds in the sky.
He begins walking around investigating the place and looking for any clues of some kind.
He suddenly stumbles with his footing, falling on to his knees and landing on...
...a dead body?
"W-What the heck?"
He then realizes there were dead bodies all around the place! They had clothing that seemed to say they belonged in Oro's court. Midas shuffles back with a gasp, sweat forming on his brow.
"Jeez, the Cube Queen and King went and committed mass genocide on Oro's court..." He mutters, getting back on to his feet.
As Midas ventures further through the barren wasteland he notices some people in the distance. Getting closer, he can identify them as Orelia and Astra, holding each other close.
"Orelia? Astra? What's going on here?"
"We're the only ones left..." Astra whimpers, covering her left eye. "The Cube Queen's court...they were all leaving..."
"We thought we'd won...there was a bright light and everyone from our court was..."
Orelia's breathing wavers. Midas looks up at her.
"Why did we let him do it?"
"What do you mean? Just tell me about this!" Midas persists, shaking her by the arms.
She shakes her head, stretching out her arms and summoning her magic.
"It's best you see it yourself."
And just like that Midas is tossed into another illusion.
----
"Get your hands off her!!"
Midas opens his eyes to see a battle of sorts happening in front of him. Oro and Orelia were facing a tearful and rage filled Cube Queen who was holding a shivering Astra, this time with both eyes...but for how long?
"Not going to happen Oro! Not after what you two have done to my darling husband!! Maybe I should take something of yours to return the favour!"
She pulls out a dagger, holding the point dangerously close to Astra's chest. Oro takes his staff and charges up an attack. The Queen chuckles and throws the dagger at him, who quickly blasts it back with a powerful attack.
A earsplitting scream rings out as the light fades. Oro covers his mouth with golden tears forming in his eyesockets. Thanks to his act of defense, the dagger had flown into Astra's left eye and was bleeding out at an alarming rate.
"Oh my stars... Astra I... I'm so sorry..."
The Queen takes the dagger and yanks it out along with Astra's eye and drops her on to the floor. She laughs menacingly as Oro drops his staff and falls to his knees on the floor, completely heartbroken and ridden by guilt.
"Now, let's end things here Oro. Keep still!"
The Queen picks Oro up with telekinesis and brings him close. Then, using her own staff, forces the end against his clothed ribcage and begins taking his power away.

Midas watches on, seeing his mentor in pain as his life is drained away from him was worrying to watch.
Orelia begins acting fast, using Oro's staff and shooting a beam of light at the Queen, making her release him and stop draining him of his life.
"Ugh, damnit!!"
"Oro, now!"
Despite his power being drained slightly, Oro finds the strength to get up and hold hands with his wife, spelling upon the Cube Queen an enchanted spell:
"Emeís oi theoí tou fotós kai tou chrysoú, me dynámeis foteinés kai tolmirés, sfragízoume aftón ton týranno tou skótous se énan kývo pou tha onomásei spíti tis."
(We the gods of light and gold, with powers bright and bold, seal away this tyrant of the dark in a cube she'll call her home.)
The Cube Queen tries summoning her magic with her staff and aim it at the two god's, but nothing was happening and she was starting to panic.
"No!! You can't do this to me!! No!!"
A square outline appears around her and begins glowing gold, getting brighter. The Cube Queen yells out as a flash of light consumes the room. When it fades, a giant golden cube stands in her place.
"So the Cube Queen was in the golden cube the whole time. Oro and Orelia sealed her away in it."
Midas thinks back to the current state of the island with that thought in mind as Oro and Orelia rush to Astra's side.
"With that strange haven being made in the center island it's probably only a matter of time before she gains the power to break free."
Oro picks up Astra and turns to Midas, seemingly noticing him standing there. He runs over to them.
"But if the Cube Queen was sealed away, who killed the Cube King?"
The god holds out a hand, Midas hesitantly taking it.
----
Midas finds himself in the room where the king was killed, the hooded figure standing over his body with their sword. He runs over, knowing he'll finally get an answer.
"Who are you?"
The figure turns around, pulling down the hood, and Midas' eyes widen:
It was Oro.
"I... should've known it was you."
The god looks away from Midas.
"What happened to your court? It's completely wiped out outside the Cube Queen's castle."
Oro takes Midas' hand, sending him into one last illusion of the past.
---
Midas suddenly finds himself sat in a golden palanquin, a linen curtain flowing in the wind. He notices Oro dressed in the same hooded cloak, Orelia talking and Astra rushing in.
"Your majesties, it's terrible! The whole of our court was wiped out with a beam of dark energy originating from the castle!"
"What?!"
"I think it's a sign the Cube King and Queen know we're here!"
Oro and Orelia exchange glances.
"We've got to end this madness."
The goddess passes him her sword for him to borrow, him thanking her.

"Orelia, Astra. You know as soon as we've done this, nothing will ever be the same. Our status and purpose won't matter anymore."
They nod in understanding.
"If we truly care about that island then I want us to live there. Live with those humans, and you two. We can be free."
Astra smiles.
"I'll await both of your return when you're finished in the castle Oro." She says, putting her hands together.
"No Astra. It's too risky leaving you alone here. You're coming with us."
"Yes Oro."
Oro then turns back to Orelia, taking her hands.
"Orelia, my love, I have one very important request from you."
"Yes dear?"
"No one can EVER find out what we've done. I never want to look back and think about it. So as my order to you as your king and husband..."
Oro takes her hands and puts them over her mouth.
"Please, let's never speak of this again. No one can know."
She nods, then walks out the palanquin with Astra following closely behind. Midas glances at Oro who puts a hand on his shoulder.
"... I'm sorry for making you come all this way...my son..."
Tears form in Midas' eyes upon being referred as Oro's son. He pulls the god into a hug, missing him more than ever before.
"I'm so incredibly proud of how far you've come and who you are Midas. And I know you have the strength and courage to take down the Queen. Don't give up, keep moving forward... okay?"
He nods, letting go of him.
"I have one last question."
The god hums in curiosity.
"Is what happened to Astra's eye the reason why you decided to take care of me as a kid."
Oro nods.
"I felt so guilty about being the cause of her losing an eye that when I found you alone on that boat, I wanted to make up for my mistake and take care of you."
He pauses.
"It's... what Astra would've wanted."
Midas smiles a little. Oro pulls the hood over his head and puts the sword on his belt.
"I think it's time you return to the present my son. Be safe."
And he exits the palanquin as Midas is covered in a bright light and disappears.
---
The mastermind groans, slowly opening his eyes. Looking down at him were Orelia, Astra and Marigold. They were back in her office in the Agency.
"Are you alright Midas?" Marigold asks. "Did you find what you're looking for?"
"I did. Oro killed the Cube King and both he and Orelia sealed the Queen away in a cube..."
The goddess glances at Astra, not exactly happy she revealed the truth to him. Pulling out the rift device Midas opens a portal to send him home. He turns to Marigold and Astra.
"Do you two want to come with me? We could use your help."
"I will gladly assist you, Oro's chosen one." Astra nods, politely doing a curtsey.
"Sure. As long as I can still come home afterwards." Marigold smiles.
Midas smiles, jumping through the portal followed by Astra, Marigold and Orelia as she's tied to her and forced to follow wherever she goes.

Meanwhile...
Jules sighs sadly, putting a plaster over a scar on her cheek before continuing to finish working on Ares' lunch consisting of a bacon and egg sandwich with beans and a mushroom on the side.
"Jules! Hurry up in there!"
She growls in annoyance, cutting the sandwich in half and taking the plate into the living room where Ares is impatiently waiting.
"Here. Fucking happy now?"
"Language young lady."
Jules leans against the wall with folded arms. Ares takes a big bite into his sandwich, egg yolk on his cheeks and dripping on to the plate.
"Honestly, your attitude is just as bad as Midas. You better clean up your act fast missy."
The engineer groans loudly in anger, finally reaching her breaking point.
"For fucks sake shut up Ares!!"
The father drops the sandwich, stands up and glares at Jules.
"Excuse me?!"
"Why are you treating us like this?! You loved me as a kid, and now I've grown up you think it's fine to abuse me and continue to make Midas' life a living hell!!"
Ares goes to speak but Jules keeps going.
"Just because he's gay and he has golden hands isn't an excuse to abuse the living daylights outta him!!"
Ares clenches his fist and goes to punch the girl in the face. However Jules is faster, grabs his fist and punches him instead.
"Riddle me this 'father'! What would you have done if I had come out with Midas' gift too? Would you adore me like you did back then and still treat Midas the way you do? Or would you continue to fuck your wife, desperately hoping one child would come out normal?"
Ares rubs his face, glaring up at his daughter.
"I can't believe it took me nearly my whole life to realize how much of a fucking monster you really are." She sobs, tears streaming down her bruised face.
She runs up to her room and quickly returns with a bag on her back. Ares stands up.
"The fuck are you going you little shit?! And how'd you pack that so quickly?!"
"Away from you! I can't stay here anymore! It's not safe. I'm not gonna stay here with a monster like you around. And to answer your question, I already packed this bag this morning!" Jules shouts, opening the front door. "You're not my father, and never will be. Never again."
And with that Jules leaves the house, slamming the door behind her. Ares tuts in frustration.
"Ungrateful bitch..."
He heads upstairs and goes to unlock Midas' door and finds that he's missing.
"And he's escaped too. Well, he's the one getting punished, not me..."

The war shall begin when he turns 18, the night of April 2nd, 2017. Whose side(s) will Charley Dunne possibly select as his loyal allies; Fleshflingers (Zombies)? Moonbearers (Werewolves)? Spellcasters (Witches and Wizards)? Bloodsuckers (Vampires)? Or Mortals (Humans)? A few, more than a few, or, miraculously, will he be able to unite all five supernatural Councils (groups) and form an eternal pact that may just last a dozen or so centuries? Find out in the very first instalment of: Querencia Quintet. Quoted from my official Wattpad story's description: "Werewolves. Demons. Angels. Spirits. Vampires. Zombies. Humans -- and the greatest supernatural species of them all; witches. The nine Lords of the Night, the thirteen Lords of the Day, the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the god of war, Horus, and the greatest progenitor of the mystical arts, Merlin. These five Councils could form a pact that lasts many lifetimes ... but will their differences and flaws work against them? Do the five magical chambers butt heads, or do they accept their uniqueness and strengths and work together?"

The Tales of YAP: The Superhero Series
“Listen well, and listen kindly, for my story is a story of contradictions; of the dead becoming alive and the weak becoming strong. Likewise, those nominated as the strong are reduced into the weakest of foes. And lovers, those sweet companions, are nothing but crazed psychopaths. This is the type of story I will tell. The story only I can speak of for it is solely mine. And now, as I recount it to you, thence forth it shall belong to all that hear of it. Listen well, then, for I shall begin.”Sooo, that’s it. The world isn’t what it is. The dead are alive. The weak become strong. And bla bla bla. The normal days of a superhero-in-training, I suppose. I hope you have a bit of patience because my story is a long one, and it starts out in the same old, boring world. My name is Yassi Anne P. Sorento, and this is my story before I became the superhero I am today. (First posted on Webnovel with the same title and under the name, Hua_Li_An.)
