Knock. Knock. Knock.
Standing outside of Haydn's house I secretly wished I had worn a better outfit- a short skirt, tank top and zipped hoodie suddenly didn't feel so comfortable. I took a deep breath as I tried desperately to control my anxiously beating heart while I waited for someone to open the door. I didn't even wait for the final bell at school to ring, I left 15 minutes early to beat traffic, just so I could be standing outside Haydn's house with my heart, figuratively, in my hands.
I held my breath as footsteps grew louder but when I saw who opened it my heart fell in disappointment.
"Oh hello, Kristen." Laura smiled, her eyes revealing her irritation and I fought the urge to roll mine.
"It's Cristina." I smiled politely and she slightly narrowed her eyes at me.
"Right." She sighed. "Are you here to see Haydn?"
"Yes, I was hoping to, I noticed she wasn't at school today, so I wanted to drop off her homework and see how she's feeling," I explained and when she glanced at me questioningly, I knew I'd have to lie if I wanted to see Haydn. "It won't take long; I've got to get back for cheer practice." I lied with ease and a smile as I watched her eyes light up.
"Sure, you can give Haydn her homework. Did you know that I was also a cheerleader in high school? We all had boyfriends on the football team, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that." She grinned but didn't give me a chance to reply as she continued. "You actually caught me on my way out, Daniel has a soccer game, but Haydn is in her room." She informed me before hiking her bag on her shoulder as she moved aside to let me in the house, shutting the door behind me as I left my shoes by the door before walking upstairs.
I just hoped Haydn let me in, I wanted to know if she was okay, but I didn't know if she'd want to talk to me. Once outside her door, I took a calming breath before knocking and I heard muffled shuffling shortly afterwards as her reply came.
"Leave me alone Laura." She muttered through the door.
"Guess again," I replied nervously but she didn't speak, instead I heard more shuffling before the door opened and I was met with her confused face and the soft sounds of Brent Faiyaz.
Haydn was dressed in light grey sweats and a white long-sleeved shirt while her damp hair was left down- she looked beautiful. Her golden eyes seemed much calmer in comparison to the previous day and a weight was lifted from my chest, she looked okay.
"Cristina? What are you doing here?" She asked gently in surprise, and I suddenly felt incredibly embarrassed.
"Hi, sorry for pitching up unannounced, I wanted to bring you your homework," I said, gesturing to the papers in my hands before blushing. "But mainly I just wanted to check on you to see if you were okay," I admitted, feeling relieved when I saw her smile a little and she gestured for me to come into her room before I walked in.
"I'm surprised Laura let you in, she doesn't like girls coming over."
"I had to do a little lying on my part, told her I'd be quick because I've got practice. She left for Daniels's soccer game though, so she won't know if I spend a few extra minutes." I shrugged as I put her homework on her table and my bag on the floor. "I just-."

"I'm so sorry I left you yesterday, I regretted it as soon I walked through your door. I was just so overwhelmed." She explained as she sat down on the edge of her bed and took a deep breath. "I'm not used to having someone in my corner, having someone I can trust with all the bad stuff." I could tell she was getting this off her chest, so I moved to sit closer to her. "I panicked, I was preparing myself to be met with rejection for so long that I didn't know what to do when you accepted me, fucking comforted me." She said tearing up slightly. "Cristina, that was the first time where I was hurting, and I didn't have to deal with it alone because you were there, and that was one of the most beautiful, overwhelming and painful realizations of my life." She sniffed. "I really am sorry, please forgive me."
"It's okay Haydn, I know you're going through a lot right now and you've been through a lot and you're so incredibly strong because of it but you don't have to fight these battles alone anymore," I reassured her, she stared at me for a few long seconds, as though she was making sure I was real before she leaned in and pressed her lips against mine in a peck before gently tugging me into her lap so we could wrap our arms around each other.
"Thanks for coming, Cristina." She murmured as I smiled, I finally had my girlfriend in my arms after such a stressful 24 hours and I couldn't be happier.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked as she tightened her arms around me.
"I feel better than I was yesterday, I went to see my therapist today and we talked about what happened. Luis came too, so that helped, that's why I didn't go to school." She sighed. "But it made me realize that I had to let go of my expectations for a lot of things."
"I'm glad you're feeling better," I murmured as I took her hand in mine, intertwining our hands together.
"Me too, I hated it, but it was something I needed to see." She explained with a small smile before turning to me. "I'm gonna keep seeing my therapist more often though."
"I'm proud of you, it's not easy to admit when you need help, but is there anything I can do for you now?" I asked and she shook her head gently.
"You're cute." She whispered before she leaned in to peck me and I felt my cheeks heat up slightly as she pulled away. "You could help me with biology if you want?" She teased and I rolled my eyes.
"You know I'm hardly any help, I'm barely scraping by," I mumbled as I gently pushed her, and she laughed.
"No, I don't need you to do anything besides be here." She murmured, her thumbs brushing my thighs. "But I don't want to talk about it anymore."
"We don't have to talk about anything you don't want to," I reassured her as I tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear. "But what are we going to do now that everyone is gone?" I asked and my cheeks flushed when I saw the mischievous look in her eyes.
"Well, I guess I have some making up to do since I was such a bad girlfriend yesterday." She whispered lowly as her gaze dropped to my lips before coming back to my eyes.

"But you weren't a bad girlfriend-" I started but she cut me off.
"I want to apologize for leaving and besides, I'm being a little selfish here since you make such a pretty distraction." She whispered and I smiled.
"Well, I wouldn't mind getting into trouble with Laura if it means I get to spend a few more minutes with you," I replied, and she shook her head as she leaned towards me.
"I was actually thinking little a longer than a few minutes." She murmured before she leaned forward and kissed me- my words dying on my tongue as she moved her lips with mine.
The kiss started off slow and intimate but turned a little desperate as her hands tangled in my hair to pull me closer. My mind was a clouded mess when Haydn slowly moved me back onto her bed and when my head hit the pillows, she lowered herself between my legs.
"You're so beautiful." She whispered against my lips before taking control of the kiss. Fire spread in the pit of my stomach as Haydn slid her tongue past my lips and when our tongue fought for dominance live electricity danced across my skin, her hands caressing my thighs, pushing my skirt further up. Her hands slid up to my waist and I moaned into her mouth as her body pushed down into mine, buzzing wherever she touched me.
I was left dizzy and breathless when her lips broke away from mine to travel down to my neck, gently sucking the sensitive skin while her hands expertly moved to unzip my hoodie before pushing it off my shoulders and body. As soon as my arms were free, I immediately wrapped one arm around her shoulders as my hand tangled in her hair as she continued her sweet assault down my body.
I felt my breath quicken as Haydn's hand slipped down to my chest and squeezed gently as she lightly nipped my skin, looking up at me with lust hooded eyes. She didn't look away from my eyes as she pulled down my top slightly, cool air pricking against my exposed skin, sending goosebumps down my spine as my mind started to go to dangerous, inappropriate places.
"So, fucking sexy." She groaned against my skin before moving to kiss and caress the top of my chest.
A breathless gasp escaped my lips when she slipped my hand under the white material of her top and her skin was suddenly on mine as her teeth grazed my skin. Her hand quickly disappeared as she came to kiss me aggressively, teeth clashing slightly as my body arched into hers before my hands went to pull her top off. I threw it to the side and took a few seconds to admire Haydn's half-naked body with firm muscles and tan skin- even in a plain black bra she still looked incredibly sexy.
Haydn reattached our lips as she leaned her body into me, her warm skin rubbing against mine. While her full lips and dominant tongue kept my mind in a fog, I felt her hands roam every inch of me and even though we were both clothed for the most part it was still extremely hot.
"Should I stop?" She whispered breathlessly against my lips.
"No," I murmured as my arms wrapped around her shoulders and I felt her lips leave mine to trace a pattern on my skin with her lips and tongue. I gasped as I felt her tongue lick my burning skin as she placed kisses down my neck. The muscles in my lower stomach clenched as a moan left my lips and I wished we would go further- that was until I heard a car door slam.
"Haydn, wait, did you hear that?" I whispered, gently pulling her up from my chest.
"Hear what?" She asked a little breathless and I signalled for her to keep quiet as I listened harder.
"I can't believe Daniel got sick during halftime; do you think there's a bug going around?" I heard a feminine voice from downstairs as the front door slammed shut and my blood turned cold when I heard multiple footsteps.
Haydn's parents were home, with Daniel.
"Oh shit!" Haydn whispered as she pushed herself off of me as she went to grab her shirt and I quickly sat up as I pulled my top and tried to smooth out my hair. "Here you go," Haydn said as she passed me my jacket and as I put it on, she grabbed her homework papers and a pen from her desk before sitting on the bed across from me and handing me a page.
Seconds later we heard a few short knocks on her door before it was ripped open and my heart beat anxiously in my chest as Laura stepped in.
"Cristina? You're still here?" She frowned slightly and I smiled.
"Yeah, cheer practice got cancelled so I thought I would help Haydn with her homework," I explained, praying that my voice wouldn't waiver.
"Was there anything you needed Laura?" Haydn asked coldly and Laura's eyes narrowed at her slightly, but before she could answer Luis walked past.
"Oh, Cris! You're here, are you staying for dinner?" He asked expectantly and I gently shook my head.
"Not today." I smiled politely. "I was actually about to leave; it's getting pretty late, and my parents don't really like me to be on the roads at night."
"That's too bad but see it as a standing invitation- you're welcome back anytime." He smiled before walking away.
"Um, I'll walk you out." Haydn smiled as she got off her bed and I followed her.
Haydn grabbed my bag for me, holding it just out of my grasp whenever I reached for it and together, we walked downstairs, sharing secret looks and smiles along the way. I quickly slipped my shoes on at the door before Haydn led me outside, gently grabbing my hand as we walked to my car parked on the street. However, when we slowed to a stop and Haydn gave me back my tote bag, I didn't realise how much I didn't want to leave her.
"Sorry I can't brave Laura at the dinner table with you." I smiled and she nodded, smiling back at me with the beautiful sunset behind her.
"It's okay, I'm used to it," she said as her smile turned into a smirk. "But I know how you can make it up to me." She flirted as she pulled me closer, wrapping her hands around my waist.
"You do, huh?" I grinned as I wrapped my arms around her neck.
"We could do that again soon." She bit her lip as she looked down at me.
"Deal," I whispered and I glanced at her lips before she leaned down to kiss me.
Unfortunately, she pulled away before things could get too hot and kissed me on my forehead before taking a step back.
"Sorry, I couldn't help myself." She smiled mischievously and I shook my head.
"So then don't," I smirked as her eyes darkened.
"Noted." She agreed as I got into my car and when I started, she came closer to the window. "Text me when you're home, okay baby?"
"I will," I promised before I waved as she walked off, staying on the sidewalk as I drove out of sight.
The second I was away from her all I wanted was to get back to her.
Fuck, I was in deep.
