I knew that if I spent any longer staring at my reflection, I'd have to miss breakfast just to make it to school on time, but I couldn't help it. I was looking for any sign of change that reflected how different I felt on the inside, but there was no visible difference, even though I felt as though I was walking on clouds.
"Cristina! Your food is getting cold!" Papa called upstairs and I sighed before exiting my bathroom.
I double-checked my casual outfit of light flared jeans, a white tank top and Air Forces before I grabbed my faded black jacket and tote bag and walked downstairs. I made sure my two gold chains were around my neck as I walked into the kitchen and took a seat at our breakfast table.
"Thanks for breakfast Papa." I smiled as I saw the fluffy pancakes that sat in front of me, and he smiled proudly.
"You're welcome." He grinned before digging into his own breakfast.
"Sweetheart, I just so you know, papa and I are leaving early on Thursday, but we should be back on Tuesday." Mama smiled and I nodded.
"Where are you guys going this time?" I asked before taking a bite of my pancakes and syrup.
"San Francisco." She smiled. "Papa has a very important business meeting with the supplier as well as a potential new franchise and I am running a few workshops in the area."
"That sounds like a busy trip." I grinned. "You guys should at least do something fun while you're there."
"That sounds like a good idea, babe," Papa said to mama and as a comfortable silence fell over the kitchen table, I decided it would be the perfect time to bring up the subject of Haydn.
"Hey mama, papa, can I tell you something?" I asked a little nervously and they nodded.
"Of course, you can Cristina, is everything okay?" Mama asked and I nodded.
"Yes, I'm fine, but I'm dating someone, and I just wanted to let you guys know," I said and immediately papa frowned.
"Are you back with that Wesley character?" He said disapprovingly and I giggled, shaking my head.
"No, definitely not, but I am dating a girl," I said gently, gazing at them to gauge their reaction.
"I don't care who you date as long as it's not Wesley- I do not like him." Papa huffed before turning back to his breakfast but when I looked at mama I shouldn't have been surprised when mama gave me a knowing glance.
"Is it that Haydn girl you went out with the other night?" She asked and I prided myself with being able to maintain my composure.
"I'm not gonna answer that." I blushed before seeing the time on the clock that hung on our wall and decided I had to leave if I had any hopes in making it to school on time.

I tied my curly hair in a bun before beginning the drive to school, relieved at my parents' reaction at my news. I knew they wouldn't care about me dating a girl because they knew I wasn't straight, but they didn't know, you know.
I pulled in the lot with ten minutes to spare and hurriedly walked up the front steps, hoping to catch Haydn before class started but I tried not to be too disappointed when I saw she wasn't there. So, I tried not to look too letdown as I made my way to my locker, finding Roxanne already at hers with Blanca and Logan- I really didn't understand how they were always there so fucking early.
"Hey, guys." I greeted as I opened my locker and Logan frowned at me.
"Hey, guys? That's all we get?" She huffed before Blanca nodded in agreement.
"Yeah girl, we're dying to know what happened." Blanca grinned and I rolled my eyes as I got out the books I would need.
"You guys always want to know that happened." I pointed out and they all gave me a "duh" look. "We talked, got milkshakes and made out a little in the parking lot. It was pretty great." I grinned.
"You guys are so boring." She huffed and I sighed.
"Not boring, just going slow." I clarified as I closed my locker.
"Wasn't that what I just said?" Blanca muttered before Logan started to speak up. However, I didn't hear a word she said because I was too focused on Haydn who was walking down the hall with a few of her friends.
Haydn was dressed in skin-tight light blue jeans, a white vintage Fast and The Furious Tokyo Drift shirt and maroon Doc Martens. She had on minimal makeup and her hair was pulled into a ponytail, and even in her casual appearance she still managed to look so, so good.
Finally, my eyes met her honey-colored ones as I bit my lip at the thought of her catching me checking her out and when she winked at me, I felt myself blush deeply. Seeing my reaction she smirked at me, instantly turning from her from beautiful to fucking sexy.
"Cristina!" Logan whined. "Are you even listening to me?" She pouted and I smiled sheepishly.
"No sorry, I got a little distracted." I blushed and they all turned around to see Haydn glancing at me before she turned the corner.
"Oh my gosh, it's like you're already in love." Roxanne cooed and I rolled my eyes.
"No, I'm not- not yet anyways," I smiled. "I just really like her." I sighed lovingly.
"If you start going doe-eyed and soft, I'm gonna throw up," Blanca warned and I rolled my eyes.
"You're just jealous because you and Cesar basically hate each other," Roxanne murmured referring to the way Blanca and her boyfriend constantly fight.

"What? The sex is way hotter that way." She shrugged as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Hey, leave her alone," Logan said coming to her defense. "At least she has someone to fight with on her terms."
"Logan are you serious? Every guy in this school would take a bullet to go on a date with you." Roxanne reassured her.
"Yeah, but only because I'm the head cheerleader with a nice rack. They want to have sex with me, nothing else." She sighed and before we could convince her that her previous experiences with the boys that made her have this mindset weren't what all guys thought about her, the bell rang.
"Logan-" Blanca started but she shook her head.
"No, it's fine, I'm over it." She lied smoothly. "Also, I've got a meeting with Coach during lunch, so I guess I'll see you later. Oh, and Cris, remember practice is half an hour earlier today for the game on Friday." She smiled before heading off to her class, her blonde swaying behind her.
"Man, we have got to do something about her," Roxanne murmured and Blanca and I agreed before we all separated to our different classes.
Blanca and I walked to biology together, talking about how worried we were about Logan because with the stress of school, cheerleading and now boy drama we knew she must've been feeling overwhelmed.
We were in the middle of talking about what we could do to help her as we stepped into the classroom, a little late due to our conversation in the hall. However, our classroom looked a lot different since gone were our small, singular desks and in their place were higher experimental tables that sat two.
"Cristina, Blanca, please may you take your seats." Mr. Patel warned, and we muttered our apologies before glancing around the room in search of an empty seat since all the tables were taken.
As fate would have it the only two seats available were next to Haydn and Landen respectively and by the glint in Blanca's eyes, I knew I was in trouble. Blanca winked at me before taking a seat next to Landen, leaving me to sit next to Haydn and I felt a slight blush tint my cheeks as I quickly glanced at her before looking down, smiling sheepishly.
I was hoping that I wouldn't have to talk to Haydn for a bit- too bad the universe hated me.
"Okay everyone, as you can see our desks have been replaced in order for us to do more experiments. So, I will be handing out a worksheet where you and the person sitting next to you will be testing for different enzymes in the provided samples. Please do not forget to record your work!" Mr. Patel spoke as he handed out the worksheets and I smiled before I turned to Haydn.
"Dibs on recording the data," I said softly and Haydn grinned.
"Yes, Princess Cristina." She teased and I gently pushed her shoulder.
"Whatever." I blushed as Mr. Patel handed us our worksheets before taking a seat back at his desk, marking test papers as he left the class to their loud chatter of the experiment.
"You look very cute today." She whispered lowly as she moved closer to me with the experiment, and I copied her movement until we were less than an inch away from each other.
I knew it probably didn't follow proper lab rules but honestly, fuck that.
"Thanks, I'm trying to get the attention of this really hot girl that winked at me in the hall earlier." I joked back and she smiled.
"I promise you; you always have my attention." She murmured before taking out the correct agents and beakers for our experiment from our provided box. "Also, I've been meaning to ask you something." She said, briefly biting her lip in anxiousness and I briefly lost my concentration.
"Go on." I pushed gently, drawing up a table for the results as I spoke.
"What are you doing on Friday night?" She asked and my heart dropped.
"I'm actually going to be cheering for the football game on Friday night," I said disappointedly, and she nodded before glancing at me.
"What about Saturday night then?" She asked again and I bit my lip as I smiled and shrugged my shoulders.
"Nothing," I murmured, and she nodded her head.
"Good to know." She whispered as she stared deeply into my eyes and for a second, I didn't care that we were in the biology classroom and I didn't care who saw, that was until Blanca cleared her throat at us from behind and we both dropped our gaze. "Um, I was actually asking because I think Saturday would be the perfect day for our first date."
"We already had our first date." I frowned.
"Saturday would be the perfect day for our first official date." She emphasized, and one look in pleading gold eyes and I crumbled.
"Okay." I sighed and she grinned.
"Great." She whispered and gave me a look that said: 'I wish I could kiss you'. "I'll see you on Saturday." She smiled and I nodded before Mr. Patel interrupted us.
"Cristina and Haydn! Stop all that chit-chat or else you'll be moved." He reprimanded us and I blushed and looked down as Haydn answered for us.
"Yes, sir." She replied before looking at me. "I guess we better get to work." She smirked.
"I guess," I whispered lowly.
I couldn't wait for Saturday.
