And when her beautiful wings with her bright halo broke, she craved the attention of the demon with the big horns and dark eyes.

-Chapter 43 --The Sweetness of Innocents-

Ms. Nancy wasn't delighted at all with the two new members of the family. She and my father locked themselves in their bedroom to argue about it yesterday.

Of course, Ms. Nancy waited until the guest left. Throughout the whole encounter, she had a scary expression on her face. No matter how much she wanted to hide her inner feelings, it wasn't working at the moment.

And when she saw the twins' physical state when my father was fixing them up, her cold blue eyes, for some reason, gravitated towards me. And it made goosebumps erupt on my skin.

Those cold blue eyes held this underlying spark of anger that made me lower my eyes. And I don't know why, because I haven't done anything to earn that reaction from her.

She probably thinks I'm the course of the fight between the brothers. That's the vibe she's giving off when she sends me that sharp, cold gaze.

It looks like she also doesn't like little cute things either. She didn't even want to get close to the cute creatures.

Poor puppy. None of the guys wanted to play with him, so I had to take him to my bedroom so he could play with the little kitten. She, by the way, is very sassy when it comes to sharing her fluffy toy.

I also named the pup because it seemed like nobody wanted to.

So his name is now Ares, a fitting name for a little energy furball like him. who loves to play fight with the small baby cat... who just didn't want to be in his company either.

The pup had a lot of energy, even more than me. He undoubtedly has extra battery life installed in him because he kept me up all night.

Both these little things helped keep my mind off of what happened between me and Kevin.

Every time my mind wanders off to what happened, my whole body gets all warmed up, and my body starts yearning for his attention again. And embarrassment starts eating into my soul without mercy.

The worst part was that my mind wouldn't stop thinking about his hands, lips, and lustful stare. And at dinner time, when we were all gathered to eat, my eyes wouldn't stop landing on his large hands.

It was so embarrassing when he caught me staring without shame. And just to add salt to my shame, he cockily smiled afterward, almost liking the attention he was receiving from me.

Goodness, how am I going to wheeze myself out of this one?

"Those twins are at it again. Poor girl.

Everyone is literally destroying her in the comments section. Damn, people are dicks." Romania exclaimed in disbelief as she shook her head in pity, drawing everyone's attention towards her."

Are you talking about the photo that has been circulating on Instagram?

The mystery faceless girl that everyone has been looking for all over social media? " Asher asked as he took a sip from his juice box as he put down his smartphone.

A picture... What picture?

Everyone looked like they knew what picture he was referring to.

Am I the only clueless one here?

Many in-class were also distracted by a picture circulating online, and the teachers had to tell them to pay attention in class before they all got detention for not listening to them.

My curiosity has reignited and reached its peak.

"What picture?" Those words spilled out of me before I could think twice about them.

" You don't have Instagram?" Romania asked, making me shake my head. "No," catching her by surprise. The word "disbelief" was written on everyone's faces, making me feel kind of stupid for not having one.

"Tik Tok?" Juliet asks as she leans forwards, her eyes filled with curiosity. As if she was seeing a clueless baby sheep.

"No," I say less confidently than before, realizing that everyone at the table is staring at me as if I'm a clueless alien who has landed on Earth with an innocent blank mindset.

"Twitter?"

"Nope, I don't have any of those." The only things I do have are YouTube, the Internet, Netflix, HBO, and some mind games that Leo downloaded for me that keep me busy when I'm bored.

"Are you for real? Romania asked, a hint of skepticism in her voice.

"I am."

"Wow, you seriously seem like a vampire who has been locked up in a basement for centuries. You are like a clueless sheep. " My body froze when I heard her words, but relaxed when I realized they didn't know much about my life.

"Stop treating her like she is a caveman who has just discovered society." Romania rolled her eyes at her big sister's words.

"You need to download those apps. They are helpful in staying in touch with people and helping you get news faster from your friends and family. " Juliet continues, "Give me your phone so I can download them for you."

She stretched out her hand, and I passed her my baby blue smart phone as I continued eating my lunch, realizing that time was running out and soon we were about to go back to class.

"Wow, you're brave for not having a password. I suggest you put one in for privacy and safety reasons." Juliet looked up to see if I heard her, and I nodded, giving her the signal that I did, making her gaze back down on the lit screen.

"Here, look." When Romania showed me the photo, I began choking on my apple out of shock.

Alex started lightly patting my back when I couldn't get my cough under control.

Oh my God, my heart stopped for a sec when I relooked at the picture presented to me. Seeing myself in the photo was the last thing I would have thought to observe. Especially in such a way.

This must be a bad joke, right? Maybe I'm dreaming right now.

How in the hell did he get a picture like that of me?

Was this why Leo fought Kevin yesterday? God, this is really bad. Kevin never ceases to surprise me with the things he comes up with.

"And that girl better be careful and hide, because if the cheerleaders ever find her, She will be so dead if they do. "Alex says, without looking up from his book.

"Why? " Good thing my face isn't displayed in the photo. The only thing that could identify me from the rest of the girls who have my hair texture and color are the tiny scars on my right shoulder.

"Why? Let's just say those cheerleaders have a reputation for bullying people into changing schools.

They are all fucking crazy.

They all think they own the school. It's so fucking cringy if you ask me. " Romania said as she kept on scrolling through the nasty comments. Her facial expression kept changing whenever she read a new one.

Damn... this is worse than I thought. Now I need to be extra careful about what pieces of clothing I put on. Good thing today I put on a thin black turtleneck shirt to hide those scars and the few hickies Kevin left on my neck. I tried to cover them with makeup but failed because I just don't know how to color correct them.

"Doesn't any teacher step in for stuff like this?" I ask, hoping that there is a way to get out of this. My right-hand subconsciously rubbed on my neck, as my nerves began to itch with unease.

"Some teachers don't like to step in situations like this because of an incident that happened a year ago. A teacher got involved, and they immediately got fired. " Juliet says as she keeps downloading more stuff on my phone. Like games and popular albums of the week that Asher was recommending beside her.

"Teachers are fucking useless at things like this, especially when their job is on the line. If you ever have any problems, it would be better to get some evidence first and take it to the cops straight away. They take things seriously. " Alex said as he shut his book and put it inside his bag.

And just like that, the bell rang, signaling for everyone to clean up their tables and go to their afternoon classes.

My mind couldn't concentrate on any of my afternoon classes. Too scared out of my mind to focus on anything productive.

Is this Kevin's way of telling me that he can destroy my life in the blink of an eye if he wanted to if I don't follow his order? If it is, then he surely succeeded in proving that point to me.

"What is on your mind, little dove? Are you okay? " Mike sat beside me on the hard floor, his back pressed against the wall behind us.

"Yes, I'm okay.

There's nothing on my mind." My cheeks warm up, not knowing what to say... because the last time we talked was on that day when we were both pressed against each other in the nurse locker.

Plus, whenever he tries to talk to me or gets too close, my cheeks will automatically warm-up and my mind will go straight to the gutter. I just can't keep a straight face in front of him without blushing like a fool.

"Nothing... Are you sure?" His blue eyes clearly displayed that he didn't believe me one bit. His tone held amusement, seeing how my face slowly started to warm up, as my deprived mind began to wonder more on that unforgettable day.

"Yeah..." I looked ahead, trying to ignore him again by watching the other kids play dodgeball.

Of course, his team is winning... He has all the good players on his team that have this determination glowing fire in their eyes, almost eager to eradicate the opposite team.

He stayed seated right next to me; he just wouldn't leave my side no matter how many times his teammates caught the red ball.

"You've got to lie better than that. You couldn't even last 5 minutes in the game. " He lets out. He was right. I only lasted three minutes in the match, but that was his fault because he's the one who singled me out, out of all the students that were in front of me, and then proceeded to hit me with the red ball.

"Well, I got a little distracted... And you? What's your excuse? " Yeah, why the hell is he here? There was no way he would have gotten hit by the ball; he was so sharp and fast on his feet. The only way he'll be here is if he purposely lets himself get hit with the red ball.

"I also got a little distracted too." He cheekily admits it as a smile grows on his face.

What the hell distracted him? I couldn't help but look at him again. And this guy was openly staring at me right now.

Was I his distraction? No way. Why would he be distracted by me?

Maybe he was thinking of a way to annoy me again. This guy likes it when I send him a sharp glare and then an eye roll. In his own words, he finds it "adorable and funny" when I glare openly at him.

Something shiny caught my eyes. For some reason, he had a few little glitters in his hair.

"Hey, Mike." I softly say, catching his attention.

"Yeah?" He turned his head towards me, giving me a clear view of the few sparkly glitters on his strands. And without thinking about it twice, my hand reached for it. Invading his personal space in the process.

It took me a few seconds to take out the few sparkly glitters from his hair.

Not only did his hair look soft to the touch, but it felt like it too.

"You had glitter on your hair. Look..." I show him.

But he doesn't say anything, making me gaze up at him.

He turned his face away, almost trying to hide his expression from me, but my eyes caught a glimpse of the light pink hue that took over his cheeks.

He instantly got up from the floor stiffly and joined his teammates when one of his teammates caught the red ball.

What got into him, all of a sudden? Did I cross the line by touching his hair without his permission? Or did I get too close to him... Next time, I'll make sure to ask for permission first.
