Even the serpent needs a taste of its poison, so it could feel what everyone feels when they get bitten by her.

-Chapter 21-Tormenting the white serpent-

Mr.Roman and Mr.Sung-ho were sitting on a light blue pillow on the floor, I was in the middle of them also sitting on the cold hard ground with a soft pillow below me. Both of them wanted me to sit next to them, so I've no choice but to sit in between them.

All my father did was shake his head in disapproval to his buddies who seemed to want to get my attention. It's like I became the main host of their undying curiosity.

Well, I would be curious too if I have a friend that I have known for years, and that they somehow pop up with a child out of nowhere. All fully grown.

The females, on the other hand, were too focused on eating their breakfast and watching the tv to care about their surroundings…. Except for Ms.Nancy who seems like she's keeping an eye on me. Having her sharp blue eyes glued to me made me feel a little anxious inside.

It feels like I am under an enormous magnifying glass... That's clearly exposing all of my imperfections. Like if she's scrutinizing me down to the bones.

Honestly, I just don't want to make a mistake that would earn me what Kevin got last night.

It's crystal clear in my father's friends' eyes how much they wanted to bombard me with questions to kill their curiosity that is growing within them by the seconds.

But they seem to be holding themselves back on making me feel troubled. I wouldn't know how to answer them if they asked me any questions… I suck at fabricating lies, especially to new strangers.

If they ask me about my mother I wouldn't know how to answer them… I just don't want to make my father look bad in front of his buddies.

"Eat more of these… " Mr.Roman put more eggs and pancakes on my half-filled plate. I tried to stop him... But he mumbles under his breath that I look like I'm about to drop dead at any moment of how pale and thin I look.

I mean I am anemic… But do I look that awful? It must be the big dark circles under my eyes.

Maybe... I should take his kind advice and eat more. I thought maybe I was at my healthiest weight but it seems like I'm not. How underweight was I when I came here?

"What happened to your face, Kevin?… " The first one to ask him was Mr.Roman without hesitation when Kevin and Leo came into our view.

Both were dressed in light soft colors today... so in contrast with their moods that displayed clearly on their sharp features. One of them looked like he did not want to be here while the other one seemed to be planning on doing something evil. The dark glint in his grey eyes said it all.

Now carefully gaping at him... He has a light bruise and a small cut on his right cheek. He should have taken Leo's advice yesterday and put some ice cubes against his swollen cheek.

Kevin smiles as his dark eyes steered towards his mother who seemed to be silently studying him... Maybe, wondering what her son is planning in that sinister head of his. Whenever his dark eyes shine with mischief nothing good comes out of it.

He even got me wondering what the hell is he planning to say or do.

"Mother knows." Everyone's attention gravitated towards her when he spilled out those words.

Ms. Nancy appeared to be shocked by his response. Her blue eyes grew in size… She quickly composed herself in seconds as she let out calmly, " I don't know what you talking about … Kevin, I was a little tipsy to know what happened last night."

So she was drunk…. From the corner of my eye, I could see Mr.Roman slightly frown as he stared at Ms.Nancy as if he could read her real thoughts that she is trying to suppress back with a sweet smile.

Why do I get the impression that Mr.Roman knows something about her that nobody knows? His body language seems off when he looks at her.

And whenever he speaks to her his form of speaking automatically changes like whatever he says has a double meaning behind his empty words.

"Oh, for real… but you didn't seem that tipsy. Right, Emma?" A little wicked smirk graced his lips as his amused eyes gravitated towards me.

My poor heart sinks to the floor as anxiety takes over my whole body. Leo nudges Kevin's on his midsection with his elbow. Leo shoots him a hard glare as he shakes his head in disapproval.

At first, I thought Kevin wanted to mess with his mother but it seems like Kevin's ultimate target today was me all along.

"Umm… I— " I nervously play with my fingers struggling to come up with something that won't get me on either of their bad sides.

Feeling everyone's eyes on me made my anxiety rise over the limit.

Why does this sadistic bastard always put me in a tight spot like this? Is he trying to get his mother to despise me?

And why in front of all these people…

"Emma wouldn't remember… She was a bit tired yesterday to notice small details. Right? "Leo let out as he made himself towards the vacant Blue couch behind me.

I nod my head... grasping the opportunity Leo lay down for me to escape Kevin's sinister plan.

A small frown displayed on Kevin's face when Leo said that.

" Anyways, How the heck did all of you guys get drunk in the first place? " From the corner of my eye, I could notice how Ms. Nancy's physical appearance relaxes a bit when Leo changes the topic of the conversation, attracting all the guest's attention towards him.

He even took the heavy burden of their curiosity that was weighing me down off my shoulder.

I should thank him later for helping me out once again in getting me out of sticky situations that his evil twin brother loves to put me in.

"Well, we made a small bet on who could hold their liquor, we spent hours taking shots and like always Roman won." Mr.Sung-ho said as he stuffed a piece of pancake covered in syrup into his mouth as a disappointed look took over his exterior like if he's reminiscing about his complete failure, yesterday.

His wife only shakes her head while hearing him as she mumbled " Now I know... Where my son got his cheekiness and bad influence from. "

Her friend beside her chuckles softly upon hearing those words.

"But it was all worth it in the end because I discovered that I have a new niece that my best friend was keeping hidden from me… I feel a little betrayed… That he didn't even tell me anything… It's like my whole life until now is a lie." Mr. Sung-ho's dark eyes drifted towards my father who didn't seem bothered by his friend's energetic weirdness.

"Roman say something… Help me out here. You are his friend too… Don't you feel betrayed? "

But Mr. Roman never responded to him… All he did was shrug and take a bite off his food.

"No fun, " Kevin mumbles under his breath as he makes himself next to Leo. He did not look amused anymore.

It's a good thing everyone changed the topic, avoiding the disaster that was ready to happen if they kept on going down that disaster's path.
