Sometimes people do foolish stuff to get the attention of the one they are infatuated with.

-Chapter 9 part 3--Tiny little pieces-

We were now in the car. Kevin was driving while talking to Leo, who was sitting next to him.

I was at the back, on the right side of the passenger seat, with my forehead pressed against the cold glass, as I stared out of the window, looking at everything that passed by in a blur.

Honestly, I wanted to stay home because I didn't look nice enough to go outside.

Both of the guys were dressed casually and comfortably.

While I, on the other hand, had a big black sweater that was from Leo, with no bra underneath. And a pair of dark jeans that Ms. Nancy brought me that were a little too big for my size.

The only thing that was keeping my blue jeans from sliding off of me was my black belt that was tightly fastened around my waist. Thank God for belts.

My hair is tied up into a high ponytail, letting my soft curls drop down my back to my hips.

I know, I know, my hair is way too long.

But can you honestly blame me?

I haven't been to a salon in years. Man, I don't even remember the last time I was in a salon and got a decent haircut.

Damn, I really need a haircut.

I wish I could have stayed home... but with their mother there, it just made me not want to stay at all.

Especially, when Kevin made me choose between his mother and him. Ms. Nancy didn't seem too delighted with my response. It didn't show on her face, but in her eyes, it was clear as day that she didn't like my response to Kevin's question.

It is people who are like her. Who pretends to be nice... Just to keep up a facade that is completely opposite of their true nature that scares me.

Plus, 99% of the time, these people end up being serial killers in sheep's clothing.

My thoughts come to an end when I hear Kevin park the car in front of another parked vehicle.

Both of them get out of the vehicle without saying a word.

I get startled when Kevin opens up the door without warning, as Leo doesn't waste time picking me up into his strong arms.

To be honest with you, I was already beginning to get annoyed with them carrying me around all the time like a wounded puppy.

Like if... I dare walk just a little bit, I'll break into tiny little pieces like one of those porcelain dolls that drop to the floor.

I know that I'm right now, weak and hopeless. But they are taking that to the next level at this point.

Kevin shuts the door of the car and makes his way towards us.

Both of them started strolling towards the enormous school. Everyone that was standing outside doing different stuff was now staring at us three.

Why are they looking at us like that?

Do I look that strange or are we in the wrong school?

Then, like lightning, it hit me. Is it because Leo is carrying me like a baby koala through the parking lot?

Where is my wheelchair?

I'm pretty sure one of them put my wheelchair in the trunk of the car this morning.

"Um... Where is my wheelchair? Leo. " Leo stops and looks down at me then back up at Kevin and says, "Yeah, Kevin. Didn't you put the wheelchair in the trunk this morning? "

Kevin shrugs his shoulders and confesses, "No, it's in the trash... where it belongs." Why? "

All I wanted to do was take a steel gray bat and whack him with it. Until rationality and common sense can start developing in his brain.

" You're fucking kidding me... Right, bro? "Leo said half-jokingly to Kevin. Yet in his eyes, you can see the judgemental look in them.

"No... When did I ever joke around, brother?

Do I look like a person who can joke around with that kind of stuff? I don't have such an awful sense of humor, Brother. "

Leo got serious, so serious that he was scaring me.

He looked like an angel about to turn into a devil and rip his brother apart. His eyes look deadly.

If looks could kill, Kevin would have been six feet underground.

"It's just a wheelchair. Plus, she got us to carry her around like her little slaves.

Right, little Emma? " Kevin glanced at me with mischief flickering in those dark eyes of his.

He was really pushing it this time.

Really... Why my wheelchair, though?

It's like he likes to find new ways to upset me and make me feel miserable and useless.

I didn't answer his question this time.

I won't go against Leo.

His mom 'Yes'. But, Leo 'HELL, NO'.

I would rather be on Kevin's bad side than Leo's.

Leo takes in a large puff of air and exhales it out and says, with a hint of disbelief in his low tone, " Forget it... You never changed, brother."

Kevin frowns upon hearing how his brother responds. "What do you mean by that, Leo?"

"Nothing... Let's just go, before we're late for practice.

I don't want the coach to kill us because we were late again. "Both of them made their way through the school and into the field.

I got a mixture of looks; curiosity, jealousy, or fear.

The one with fear confused me a tiny bit.

Who were they afraid of and why?

Was it because I'm that ugly to look at?

I look at the twins... And no wonder they were looking at us in fear.

Kevin looked like he would kill anyone that tried to get close to us or in our way, and Leo looked so freaking serious that it shocked me a bit.

What has gotten into these two guys?

When we made it to the field, there were other people scattered throughout the large green area.

Leo takes me up the white bleachers and places me on the second-to-last one, gently.

"If you need anything, Emma. Don't hesitate to call me.

Okay? " He said that as he waited for me to respond back to him.

It's like... I really have a big brother that really worries and cares about me. That thought alone made me a little happy and warm inside.

"Okay, Leo." A small smile spread across my face.

My little smile caught him off guard because he was staring at me, for a moment in awe and shock.

"Why are you looking at me like that, Leo?" Did I do something wrong?

"It's just that... It's the first time that I have seen you smile like that. Even if it is for just a little bit, instead of always looking so lifeless on that hospital bed. " He said that in awe.

A small grin spread across his face as his eyes lit up in amusement.

"Leon, what is taking you so damn much? Let's go, we need to go change. " We barely heard Kevin because of the chattering of a group of girls who were sitting in the first row on the right side of the bleachers.

They were gaping at them both, checking them both out with no shame.

Kevin, on the other hand, was still standing on the field looking up at us. Gesturing with his right hand for Leo to come down already.

Leo leaves me and goes back down to Kevin, as they disappear for a while.

I look at the big field and just wish that I could run through it. Just wishing to feel the wind in my hair when I sprint across the enormous greenfield, knowing that I'm finally free.

Free from my mother, free from her disgusting lover, and free from that house that was more like a prison than a warm, welcoming home.

But for now, I'll just sit here and watch others instead.

And I see them both dressed up, ready to go. They both looked more intimidating than before.

Whoever's playing the opposing team, I feel extremely sorry for them.

Those outfits make them look bigger and more powerful in a way that nobody would ever dare in their right minds to be on the opposite team.

Then I felt someone sitting next to me. I quickly turned my gaze to that person that had sat down next to me.

"Hey, there." A stranger says to me, as he waits for me to respond to him.

But he doesn't even let me recover from my perplexed state when he continues talking.

"My name is Hansol," he says, as he gives me a warm, charming smile. Not gonna lie here. But he's really attractive. He seems like a mixture of white and Asian, I assume. But I could be totally wrong about his race and he could be something else for all I know.

His features were unique and his smile was kind of contagious, it almost made me smile.

His sharp eyes were the radiant shade of brown that could hypnotize you with just one look.

"Hi... Uh, my name is... Emma." I tell him, awkwardly, sounding a little hesitant towards the end.

"That's a cute name, Emma. Are you a new student here? Because this is the first time I have ever seen you around here, "he smiles warmly at me."

"No. I'm not a student here...

Actually, I just came here with my…" I look at the two twins on the field. They were talking to what appeared to be their coach. I look back at Hansol and continue speaking, "Brothers."

"Oh, so you're just a visitor...

That's really shocking to hear. I would have liked to see you around more in school. And I would have loved to talk to you more too. You look like a nice person to be around. "He softly smiles as those words come out smoothly, out of his lips.

"Oh,..." I mumbled as my cheeks began to feel warm.

I look back on the field to not show Hansol how red I have gotten for his kind words.

But, when my sight landed on my stepbrothers, I already started regretting gazing over where my stepbrothers were standing, and not on Hansol.

"Hey, are you okay?" Hansol asks with a little hint of concern noticeable in his voice.

"Yea-yeah," I stuttered a bit. Kevin looked pissed off. But, not as pissed off as Leo.

Leo looked like... He wanted to murder the poor guy that was sitting right next to me. And the way he was looking at me was terrifying.

My heart started hammering much harder when I saw Leo making his way over here from across the field.

When he was in front of the bleachers, Leo took slow but steady steps towards me.

And when he stops in front of me, My heart shuts down completely as my hands start to shake uncontrollably.

"Is he bothering you? "Little sis." Leo glares at Hansol, as if he wanted to stab him-right there, right now-for even daring to sit next to me.

Should I even respond back to him?

"No-No, he was just saying 'Hi'. That is all. " I look back at Hansol, and Hansol wasn't even fazed by Leo's presence at all.

Instead, he looked relaxed about the whole situation.

"Is that so?" Well, he already said 'Hi', so he can leave now. Right, Hansol?" Leo looks at him with a cold, hard expression, almost daring Hansol to say "No."

So... they know each other. Do they have bad blood between them or something?

"You know, I didn't just come here to just say 'Hi', Leon.

Come on, man. Can you really blame me? She is so cute, just look at her. "

I blush again when Hansol says that with no shame. Wow, he's really bold to say that without hesitation.

"I don't give a flying fuck, how cute you find her as. You'd just better stay far away from her. Got that.

She's not one of those girls you can harm and not face any consequences afterward." He warned, his voice becoming much colder and sharper than before.

Gosh... Even his voice got deeper too. He almost sounded demonic.

Hansol stands up from the bleachers and puts both his hands up in defense. "Jeez, okay man, I didn't know she was your sister.

" Hansol leaves, but not before giving me a wink before he goes, leaving me with a furious Leo.

Leo stares at me for a moment and doesn't say a word. He didn't have to say anything because his eyes were already letting me know that he was mad.

I was about to say something, but Leo turns around without saying a single word as he goes back to his team and starts training.

I sat there watching them train.

But all that kept popping into my mind was... why was Leo so pissed off about... if Hansol was just saying 'Hi'?

And what does he mean? When he says, "If Hansol harms me, he will be facing consequences afterward."
