Mom and Dad were driving Little Sister and me to school. When we arrived, the little one was a little upset that she was late to first period.

"Bye, I love you," Dad said.

"Sure, Dad," she said crankily.

"Bye, I love you."

"Sure, Mom," Little Sister said.

"Bye, I love you."

"KC, shut up," she said and got out of the car.

Then I went to get out and Dad said, "Bye, shithead. Have a good day at school."

"Bye, love you," I said, unfazed at his endearing terms.

"Love you, too," he said back.

Then Mom laughed and said to Dad, "You're so mean."

As I was leaving and before I closed the car door, I heard Dad say, "How?"
