《parties // billie eilish》Chapter 82: Tracked

I wake up by a loud noise, making my ears hurt more than ever. In confusion, I sit up in the bed and look around me, discovering a sleeping Billie next to me with her hand placed on my stomach. Her mouth is slightly open and she looks exhausted. Not wanting her to wake up, I quickly answer the call, moving her hand away carefully and replacing it with a pillow before walking over the floor to exit the room.

''Hello?'' I say after pressing the green button on my phone, feeling annoyed because of the way the stupid bitch who called me woke me up.

''Ember Clayton, right?'' The voice on the other line simply says, making me furrow my eyebrows.

''Yes, who's this?'' I ask.

''It's Ethan. I need you and your friends to come to the station right now,'' he says, making me gulp.

''Oh-okay. We're coming now,'' I say with a shaky voice before hanging up. I sigh before entering the bedroom again, sitting down on the bed next to Billie.

''Hey, wake up!'' I say, grabbing her shoulder softly before shaking her carefully.

''Get the fuck out of here,'' she mumbles, making me grin.

''Wake up!'' I repeat, pulling the blanket off of her, making her sit up, burying her face in her hands as I laugh.

''What's so fucking important?'' She asks loudly, clearly more annoyed than ever.

''They want us at the police station. Now,'' I say, making her look at me in a more serious way.

''Really? Why?''

''I have no idea, let's go.''

I head downstairs while Billie wakes Julia up and decide to make some breakfast, just to get som energy. If I don't eat, I get angry and annoying and I don't think that the police would like that. A tired Julia shows up in the doorway as I put two slices of bread in the toaster, yawning.

''Good morning, did Billie tell you?'' I ask before handin her a sandwich.

''Yeah, I can drive,'' she simply says before taking a bite off her breakfast. I can tell that she misses Kevin who has been at the police station for a while now. I really hope that they donät suspect him, because it's my fucking fault if they do.

After finishing our food, we all enter Julia's car as she starts the engines. A silence follows as I realise how sad all this shit is.

''I remember when we used to be five people in this car, singing and having fun,'' Billie mumbles, making my heart ache.

''I feel you,'' I say quietly, looking at the girl in the backseat with the sad eyes.

''Everything will be okay. We can't give up, okay?'' Julia says, tapping the steering wheel with her fingers.

''I want to believe you,'' I say, leaning back in the seat while closing my eyes.

Eventually, we reach the building and I almost start shaking as I walk through the glass doors with Billie and Julia behind me. There are many people here today, making me feel even more anxious as I try to take as many deep breaths as I can to calm down. We walk towards the benches that we sat on the last time we were here, sitting down next to each other in silence.

''I'm so fucking scared,'' Billie finally admits, making me put my arm around her shoulders as I try to act like I don't feel the same.

''It's okay. Just relax,'' I assure her, trying not to shake as much so she'll trust me. I lean my head on top of hers, taking a deep breath as we keep waiting.

Finally, a door in front of us opens up and Ethan stands there.

''Come in, guys. We have to talk,'' he says, signaling for us to enter the room that he came from. I look at Billie and Julia before walking in with them behind me. The room has white walls and black floor but it doesn't look as boring as the room where I did the polygraph. There is a window with a flower pot in it and a picture of a woman, probably Ethan's wife or something.

There's a table, simular to the one in the other rooms that we sit down in front, looking at Ethan as he sits down on the opposite side of us.

''So, we have an idea where we think that Travis could be,'' he says, making my eyes widen.

''What? Where?'' I outburst.

''Calm down, please,'' he says immediately.

''Sorry,'' I say, biting my lip. I'm so stupid.

''Your friend Kevin doesn't want to work with us. He doesn't want his friend to be hurt so he doesn't say anything,'' he explains. ''We would like you guys to work with both us and him.''

''You want us to lie?'' Billie asks, making him look at her while sighing.

''I want you guys to give us Travis's location,'' he says after a while. ''Kevin seems to have some ideas that he doesn't want to tell us, but I'm sure that he would tell you guys. If you go there with him, we can track you guys via your phones and help you out.''

''Why would we do that? Why can't we go there without you?'' Julia asks.

''It could be dangerous. Think about it. Anyone could have written that letter about him leaving. If he is kidnapped and you guys go there, you could end up as him,'' he explains. ''And if you guys find him without telling us, you have comitted a crime. Lying to the FBI''

I bite my lip as he finishes, realising that we don't have a choice. It didn't work out well when I lied the last time, so I don't think that we should do it now.

''Fine. Track my fucking phone,'' Billie says before almost throwing her phone at Ethan as he barely catches it.

''Thank you guys for cooperating,'' he says before walking over to the door again. ''Kevin is in the room next to this one and he is free to leave. Try to get Travis's location and go there with him.''
