《parties // billie eilish》Chapter 21: First impressions

As soon as Billie walks out on stage, the screaming from the fans is almost enough to make me deaf. I look around me and I see that there are pretty many people that just stands here next to the stage, probably the audio engineer or something. I don't know that many of Billie's songs, but right now she's performing one with a high tempo, jumping around. She really does look happy and the fans do as well. After a while, a song that I've heard before starts playing. Her angelic voice fills the local, making me close my eyes to enjoy her singing.
"Don't you know I'm no good for you
I've learned to lose you, can't afford to
Tore my shirt to stop you bleedin'
But nothin' ever stops you leavin'
Quiet when I'm coming home and I'm on my own
I could lie, say I like it like that, like it like that
I could lie, say I like it like that, like it like that"
The sadness in her voice breaks my heart, but it sounds so beautiful at the same time. The crowd is a lot more quiet and I appreciate that. Sometimes, fans use to sing and scream when their idol is performing a sad song, and it's really annoying because they just ruin the vibe.
"Don't you know too much already
I'll only hurt you if you let me
Call me friend but keep me closer
And I'll call you when the party's over
Quiet when I'm coming home and I'm on my own
And I could lie, say I like it like that, like it like that
Yeah I could lie, say I like it like that, like it like that"
I can tell that this song means a lot to her, her brother as well. He is singing backing vocals while playing the piano and it sounds really beautiful. After a while, she finishes the song and everybody claps their hands, me too. Suddenly, someone comes up to me.
"You must be Ember!" She exclaims. "I'm Maggie, Finneas and Billie's mom."
"Yeah, nice to meet you, Maggie!" I smile, shaking her hand.
"Billie told me today that one of her friends named Ember would follow her backstage today, and I saw you standing here all alone so I just had to show up", she says. That's so cute.

"Thank you, I don't really know anyone here, but Billie is an amazing singer and that keeps me company", I grin, making her smile.
"She is, I'm really proud of both of them", she says, nodding at her two children.
"You should be, it's sounds beautiful."
Me and Maggie watch the performance for a while before she puts her hand on my shoulder.
"I have to go know, but it was really nice to meet you! Billie should be done in ten minutes or so!" She says, squeezing my shoulder before leaving me. Maggie is really nice, and she seems to care about Billie a lot. I wish that my mom was the same. Just the thought of it makes my heart drop and I suddenly feel really sad. What am I doing here? I should be home crying over her but instead I am watching my... whatever perform. I feel how the guilt washes over me and I walk back to the small room where Billie and I were before. Laying down on the couch, I try to stop myself from thinking too much because it's literally killing me. I instead pull up my phone and open snapchat.
Right when I receive the message, Billie enters the room and I pray to god that she's not mad at me.
"Hey", she says, looking exhausted.
"Hey", I mumble.
"Are you okay?" She asks as she walks over to the table to look at herself in the mirror. I would do it a lot too if I looked as good as her.
"Yeah, I'm fine. You were amazing on stage", I say, opening my arms for her. I don't feel like talking about my problems all the time because I feel so annoying.
"I'm sweaty", she says, running a hand through her hair.
"I don't care", I say almost immediately after and she does sit down, letting me wrap my arms around her. She leans her head against my chest, taking a deep breath and closing her eyes.
"Your mom is really nice", I say after a while.
"You met her?" She asks, a bit surprised.
"Yeah, she came up to me when I was watching you perform."
"Did she say anything embarrasing about me?" She asks with a worried voice, making me laugh.
"No, she didn't. She just said that she was proud of you and stuff like that."

"Okay, cool."
Suddenly, the door opens and Maggie walks in with Finnes behind her, making me and Billie jump away from each other.
"Hey! We are leaving now. Would you like to eat dinner with us?" Maggie asks, smiling. Is this how a mom should be?
"I don't want to bother you-"
"Yes, she wants to!" Billie interrupts, noticing that I'm bad at accepting offers. She grabs my hand, pulling me to the others and we walk to the door before opening it up. There are three cars on the parking lot and Maggie seems to own the one farthest away. We open up the car doors and I sit down in the beige leather backseat while Billie sits down by my side. I feel pretty anxious by this situation and I really hope that Billie's mom doesn't ask me a lot of questions about my life, because I would have to involve my family. Fortunately, she just puts the radio on before singing along to it. Billie and Finneas joins as well and I do too.
"Same bed but it feels just a little bit bigger now
Our song on the radio but it don't sound the same
When our friends talk about you, all it does is just tear me down
'Cause my heart breaks a little when I hear your name"
Me and Billie look at each other, holding our hands on our hearts while singing the last part, acting as if we're meaning every word.
"It all just sounds like ooh, ooh ooh hoo hoo
Mm, too young, too dumb to realize
That I should have bought you flowers
And held your hand
Should have gave you all my hours
When I had the chance
Take you to every party 'cause all you wanted to do was dance
Now my baby's dancing
But she's dancing with another man"
The song ends and we pant after the instense karaoke session.
"I didn't know that you could sing", Billie says in amazement and I roll my eyes.
"Shut up, I can't sing at all", I say, chuckling.
"It actually sounded good, Ember", Maggie says, smiling at me through the rear-view mirror. I blush a bit because I hate compliments, I never know how to handle them.
"Thank you, Maggie", I simply say, smiling back at her.
After a while, the car stops and I look out through the window, seeing that we're outside of Billie and Finneas apartment again. I open the car door and wait for the others before walking up the concrete steps. Billie opens the door and holds it up for me, receiving a smile from me. When we enter the building, Finneas walks to the elevator and pushes the button to open the metal doors. After a quiet elevator ride, we step inside the familiar apartment and I immediately follow Billie into her room.
She closes the door and I jump onto her bed, pulling out my phone from my pocket. I lay on my stomach while scrolling through instagram. A gasp escapes from my mouth when I realise that I have over fifteen thousand followers. Why does people care about me enough to press that blue button on my profile?
I squeel when Billie sits down my back.
"Billie, that hurts!" I laugh but she doesn't move. I open up snapchat and the front camera before snapping a hilarious picture of me with Billie on my back. I upload it to my story, making Billie hit me on my upper back.
"You dick, why did you put that on your story?" She chuckles before getting off me. I laugh even more by seeing her so upset, and that was probably a mistake. Billie turns me around so I lay on my back before tickling my sides.
"No, Billie stop!" I laugh, trying to push her hands away.
"Nope!" She yells before straddling my hips and pinning my arms down on the bed.
"Please?" I beg, trying to look cute but I'm still panting from the tickling.
"Fine", she mumbles before bending down and capturing her lips between mine, my wrists still pinned down firmly against the bed. Our lips moves in sync, and we pant even more between every kiss. She pushes her warm body even closer to me so there's no gap between us before releasing her grip on my wrists. They immediately find their way to her hips, squeezing a bit on the black fabric of her pants. Suddenly, we hear a voice from the kitchen.
"Dinner's ready!"
Thank god that the door is closed. Billie kisses my cheek one time before putting her hands on my shoulder, helping herself up. When we manage to stop panting, we enter the kitchen to eat some dinner.

Now the mere thought of him made me ache to be with him, to look at him, to touch him. I couldn't quite put my feelings into words. Even as I try, few seem to suffice. An entire sea of ink could not adequately describe my feelings towards him. It was almost as if all the stars in the sky were condensed into a single, twinkling one.
