《parties // billie eilish》Chapter 10: She's a badass

I wake up by the sound of steps on the wooden floor, making me groan and turn around in the bed.
"Oh sorry, did I wake you up?" A voice says, making me sit up.
"It's okay", I mumble, feeling how my throat is sore.
Billie sits on the floor in front of her closet, probably figuring out what to wear today. I sit on the edge of the bed, still having Billie's clothes on. After running a hand through my messy dark brown hair I stand up, yawning. I press the home button on my phone, making it light up. It shows "3pm".
"Shit, Billie! It's really late and I've just been sleeping here, I'm sorry", I say, a bit panicked as I unlock my phone. Billie just chuckles and walks over to the bed. Her blue hair is pretty messy and she's wearing a pair of white, baggy sweatpants with a matching oversized hoodie. She looks at me with her eyebrows raised.
"No, don't apologize! It's okay, I invited you to be here", she says with a cute voice and I nod slowly, still not convinced.
"Come on, let's eat breakfast!" She shouts happily, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the kitchen. I giggle while following her and she opens the fridge, getting some stuff that we can eat.
''I suck at cooking so sorry if it tastes like shit", Billie says, cracking an egg into the frying pan.
''I bet that you're better than me, dude. Everything I cook tastes like ass",
I answer, making her laugh.
After a while Billie puts two plates on the table and signals me to sit down. I sit down in the soft chair and I feel more and more hungry by looking at the food in front of me. Without thinking, I stab an egg with my fork, eating it. I haven't eaten since school yesterday, so I'm pretty much starving right now.

''Wow, you are really hungry, dude. Don't choke", Billie chuckles, taking a bite of her breakfast as well.
''I haven't eaten in a while'', I answer, my mouth filled with food.
''Why's that?'' she asks.
''Nothing'', I answer, not wanting to talk about my problems all the time. She nods before raising her glass of water to her mouth.
''What are you up to today, shorty?'' she says with a smirk, making me blush.
''I don't know to be honest, I guess that I need to get home to my mum today'', I say and she sighs.
''I don't want you to get back there. Man, you could get even more hurt'', Billie says, concerned.
''I know, but I have to. It's my mum.''
''I get it, but you need to be careful, okay? And tell me if she does anything", She says, making me nod. ''And can we discuss that you're saying mum and not mom? Are you british?''
''Shut up, I'm not british'', I laugh. ''I don't know why I always say it that way", I say, making her giggle. An awkward silence follow and I pretend to be interested in the food while Billie looks at her phone.
''What are you doing next week?'' I ask to break the silence. She looks up at me and puts her phone down.
''I don't know really, I'm doing a few interviews and I've got some performances but I'm chilling. How about you?'' she says.
''Well, I'm not a fucking superstar or an amazing singer, so I guess that this week will be like any other one", I say with a chuckle and she rolls her eyes.
''I'm not that good, and you can hang out with me and Kev! We are going to meet a lot this week. I think that Travis will come as well. You can invite Julia, too", she explains with a smile.

''Oh, yeah that would be fun if you guys don't mind", I say happily.
I start to think about Travis. He looks good and he is my type. I hanged out with him at the party yesterday, and he was really sweet. I mean, I would really love to hang out with him but Billie is different. I'm not sure about my feelings for any of them. It's confusing.
Suddenly, my phone lights up and it says ''Snapchat from Julia''
''Julia texted me'', I say, my eyes locked on the screen. Billie gets up from her chaur and sits next to me, looking at the screen as well.
Me and Billie both look at each other, smiling. Julia's really crazy sometimes.
''She is a badass'', Billie states, smirking at me.
''She is'', I agree before putting down my phone in my pocket.
''You have to leave now, right?'' Billie asks, getting up from the chair and I nod, pouting. I look out through the window and it's raining.
''Man, I'm gonna freeze to death in my fucking dress'', I sigh when Billie hands me the black garment.
''You can keep those on'', Billie simply answers, pointing at the clothes that I got this night.
''Are you sure? I could-'' Billie interrupts me by chuckling.
''It's fine, dude. Otherwise, I wouldn't have said that, okay?'' she says, smiling.
''Well, I gotta go now before my mom gets pissed again'', I chuckle.
''You're learning! I'm so proud", she laughs, reffering to my pronunciation. She opens up the door and I walk out.
''Bye, shorty. Take care, alright?'' she says softly, pulling me into a hug. The hug lasts a little bit longer than usual, not that I'm complaining, though.
''I will. Bye, Bil", I say when we pull away. She closes the door behind me and I walk to the elevator before pressing the silver button. While I'm waiting, I think about my feelings again. It's like, I want to spend time with Billie. She makes me feel some kind of way that I really like. Travis is sweet and nice, but maybe he would be better as a friend? Or do I like him? I don't know, man. I will probably not end up with any of them because love is scary as hell. It's hard to explain, but you don't really need love before you have experienced it. You can live your life without a boyfriend or whatever, but if you get one a new door will open up. You will be like ''Oh my god, this is amazing. Why haven't I done this before?'' when you find someone who you love and when they leave, you'll feel like you won't ever experience that kind of happiness again and it sucks. So I think it's easier to ignore love, it's just exclusive and I hate to complain about things that are exclusive, things that many people won't have in their lives because they are experiencing worse things.
I finally see my house after walking all the way from the bus stop. The anxiety starts to build up when I stand on the steps in front of the door. What will she say? Will she be nice? Okay, I can't have high hopes. I just have to open the damn door and talk to her. Let's do this.
I take a deep breath before touching the cold metal knob with my hand. It's now or never. I slowly turn the handle and pull the door open.
