Meanwhile, back at the Authority, things were going all according to Midas' design. Ghost were winning!
With a grunt, TnTina gets blown across the floor, looking very defeated.
"Damnit! Outta shots." She groans, picking up her KaBOOM Bow and getting up, but gets pinned down by Midas' foot.
"Well Agent TnTina, change your mind yet?" He asks, raising the eyebrow above his scarred eye.
"Ugh, about what?!"
"About what side you would prefer to be on. The winning side, or the losing side?"
"Pfft, do you even hear yourself Midas?! I'm already on the winning side!" Tina laughs, folding her arms in amusement. "Why can't you accept it Midas? No matter whose side you're on, you're always going to lose."
"That was after you and Brutus turned against me." He sighs, taking his foot off her.
Tina looks at him in confusion, standing up and pointing a pistol to his head, threatening to pull the trigger.
"Y'know, though I may not show it, I enjoyed you and Brutus' company back then. Skye did too..." He sighs, putting his drum gun inside his briefcase.
"Oh please, as if she misses me." She scoffs, taking a few steps forward towards Midas.
"She does miss you actually..."
Tina stops in place, the words going through her mind.
"I'd be happy to have you as an agent again...but I know my asking is all in vain. I can never be forgiven for abandoning the two of you..."
He, along with Skye, Jules, Ocean and the henchmen, then go to leave, their assault a complete success. TnTina watches, perplexed by what Midas told her, and let's out a frustrated sigh folding her arms.

"Well I'd call that a complete success, wouldn't you Skye?" Midas sighs happily, steering the motorboat through the slurp contaminated swamp.

"Heck yeah bossman! That'll leave Chaos Agent on edge won't it Ocean?"
Midas smiles softly at their enthusiasm, but that smile turns to fear as they approach the Fortilla.
Hopping off, the henchmen and agents explore the broken remains.
"What happened here?" Ocean asks, biting her nail.
Midas then finds the henchmen he left to guard the place patching themselves up with Remedy, the only agent who stayed.
"What's going on here?"
The henchmen all look away from him, not wanting to face the anger brewing inside him.
"I will not ask twice, I said what happened-"
One henchman steps up, ready for his boss' fury.
"M, boss... They took her away..."
*****************************************
It's been 4 hours now... he's still going. I've never heard Midas this furious. As soon as that henchman broke the news, he immediately walked over to his office, closing and locking the door. And all I've heard since then is just him shouting and yelling.
His consistent shouting has me worried.
But then I heard things being broken, as well as punches coming through his walls.
"He's been at it for ages. Must be a new record." Skye sighs, concerned about her boss.
"You mean it's not the first time he's had a breakdown like this?" I ask, surprised.
"When Tina and Brutus went Shadow, he was devastated, and acted like this for about an hour. But for Sophie, Jesus Christ he's not showing any signs of stopping!"
"Dad was right! I'm a fucking FAILURE!!" His muffled yell can be heard, followed by something fragile smashing to pieces. "Can't protect my own sister! CAN'T KEEP A PROMISE TO A INNOCENT CHILD!!"
Upon hearing yet another item get thrown, as well as a new punch through the wall, I stand up.

"That's it. I can't take it anymore! I may not be her, but I'm his sister. If there's anyone he needs right now, it's me."
I stride over to my brother's office. I hesitantly knock on the door only for it to slowly fall onto the ground due to the damage. The office is in absolute madness, with pictures knocked down, trophies and the file cabinet dented. But Midas himself, oh my god...he looked AWFUL:
His hair was a complete mess, his tie was half undone as well as some of the buttons on his shirt. He had his jacket on the floor and his eyes were bloodshot from his tears that were still going down his face. His golden hands, the gold keeps sliding up and down his wrists, unable to cope with his state of mind. Worst of all, he has a bottle of whiskey on the left side of his desk which is almost empty.
"Oh my god, Midas." I attempt to hold back my tears, but to no avail.
"Everyone calls me a freak, a failure. A nobody who doesn't deserve to live!" He cries, a broken smile on his face as he leans against the wall, a shot of whiskey in his hand. "Well, looks like they were fucking RIGHT ABOUT THAT WEREN'T THEY?!"
Downing the whiskey, he laughs at his own misery.
"I'm just a coward who acts tough. A coward who can't do anything right! I'm half-blind for god's sake!!"
Punching yet another hole in the wall, he begins breaking down into tears once more. Unaware that not only is Jules listening, but Skye, Ocean and a couple of henchmen, including Ryan are listening too.
"Come on darkness, what are you waiting for? I'm ready to succumb. What else does this island have to torture me..?"
Midas eventually loses the will to stand and falls onto his knees, his hand on the desk reaching for the bottle of whiskey.
Jules, acting quick, takes the the bottle and tosses it into the bin.
"Ok, you've had way too much to drink. You need to go to bed." She sighs, tear marks staining her face.
"Nah, put me to sleep permanently. That'll do the entire island a favour since I'm the failure who flooded the place!" He laughs as Jules wraps his arm around her neck, picking him up.
"Please stop talking like that Midas. You're just drunk."
"What?! I'm fine Julie bean!"
His speech begins to slur, showing he has indeed had too much to drink. The others simply watch as Midas is dragged off to his room by his sister.
"Hey, you guys? I'm not your boss but can you clean and fix his office? For his sake." She requests. The others nod with no hesitation and get to work.
Laying Midas down his bed, Jules puts the covers over his and wipes his tears.
"Get some rest, you need it." She sighs, leaving the room and closing the door.
It's faint, but the sound of Midas' tears can still be heard. He promised to keep her safe...He promised he'd always be there for her...
And he failed...

Magic system vaguely similar to GameLit ones (no system nor interface to help), with certain elements that are a bit more analogue. But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves.
