"Boss, you're never that eager to share your past with people. In fact, you never tell anyone about your past." Meowscles stops him.

"Is it a problem Meowscles?" Midas asks, his golden eye staring at him. "Besides, I think Sophie here deserves to know the truth."

"N-No, of course not M. Please continue."

"Thank you."

Meowscles looks over at Sophie, who is happily sat next to Midas with Kit walking over to sit on her lap.

"What did that kid do? What caused Midas to all of a sudden feel comfortable sharing his past?" The cat asks in his head.

"As I was trying to say, it started when I was about 13. I was left alone in the house with my father whilst Jules and mum were out. Of course, I knew something bad would happen, I just... didn't know how bad it would be..."

"Midas, me and Jules are going out. So it'll just be you and your father for a while."

"Mum, no. Take me with you! You know it's a bad idea to leave us alone together!" Midas panics grabbing his mother's hand, thankfully wearing his gloves.

"Now Midas we've been over this. Just don't do anything to annoy him. He's already annoyed enough by that delivery of his not showing up on time."

"Don't worry M, you'll be okay!" Jules smiles, hugging him tight.

Midas hesitates, but pats her head. His mother gives him a kiss on the head and ruffles his hair.

"Be good for me, alright?"

With that, Midas' mother and Jules step outside and close the door.

Half an hour passes, and the young teen finds himself sitting in the living room reading a book about spies and espionage. That is, until he hears his dad in the next room.

"I said no excuses!! Get it done!"

"Hm? Dad? What's he talking about?"

Midas gets up from his chair, putting down his book. He wanders over to the door, listening.

"I'm not repeating myself. ...Yes I know there's other people on the other island, it's getting supplies over to the docks, this is a war we're talking about mister!" His father shouts through the phone.

"Hey dad! What are you talking about?" Midas asks, raising his voice, hoping his dad will listen.

His father continues to ignore him, much to his frustration. He follows him into the room.

"Dad!!"

"Well, you'll have to remember this time or reschedule it for next week."

"Dad, whatcha doing?!" Midas shouts near his dad. Hanging up on the receiver, his father pushes him out of his way.

"M please, not now."

He sits down in his office chair, typing a message to someone on his computer.

"Hey dad!"

"Oh, you're still here." He sighs, looking over at his son.

"What are you doing?" Midas asks for the third time, a cheeky smile on his face.

"Well, if you must desperately know, I'm sending a message to the A.L.T.E.R and E.G.O captains, telling to command their soldiers to send some re-enforcements to the Apollo island."

"I want to command an army!" He shouts, enthusiastic.

"Well, you'll need your own Agency to do that. Hehehe, that'll be the day." His dad laughs, making fun of Midas.

"I want an Agency of my own!"

His father simply ignores him and goes back to his work.

"Are you listening to me dad?"

Midas' attention is then shifted to a picture of the A.L.T.E.R logo and a phone number.

"What's this?"

"The Statue of Singularity."

"Really?"

"No it's the A.L.T.E.R leader's phone number you idiot."

Intrigued, Midas reaches for the enter key to make a call to the leader, only for his hands to be harshly grabbed by his dad.

"How many times have I told you to not touch my stuff?!" He yells.

"What's your problem with me? You treat Jules like an angel, and I'm treated like a piece of dead wood! It's not fair!" The kid cries, glaring at his father with his golden eyes.

"I want respect from you! I want respect from the people who've wronged me! I deserve it! I'm just as special as Jules!!" Midas yells, his cries turning more into demands.

"Then why is everything about you wrong, M?!" His father's voice booms, grabbing Midas by his throat and tossing him out the room closing and locking the door.

Clutching his bruised neck, Midas runs into the downstairs bathroom and closes the door. Tears stream down his face as he sits on the toilet seat, covering his face.

...then, his cries suddenly go quiet. Taking off his gloves, he stares down at his hands, then at his reflection in the mirror.

"This is this reason why dad doesn't consider me his son." He mutters clenching his fists tight, making them shake violently.

"I HATE MYSELF! I HATE MY CURSE!!"

In a fit of uncontrollable rage, Midas slams his fists into the mirror, shattering it into pieces. Unfortunately for him, one of the larger pieces flies directly into his right eye, scarring it and blinding him. His scream of agony echoes through the house.

He screams out for someone, anyone to help him...

But nobody came...

15 minutes later...

The front door opens as Jules and her mother return with a handful of shopping bags.

"Jules, be a dear and help your father unpack the shopping whilst I go find your brother." Her mother smiles, patting Jules' back.

She nods and walks off to find her dad, while her mum wanders around the house.

"Midas sweetheart, where are you?" She calls.

She checks everywhere:

His, Jules and his parents' room.

Living room.

Kitchen.

Garden.

Under the stairs.

"Midas, please come out. I'm really starting to-"

She stops upon seeing the downstairs bathroom door slightly open. Upon inspection, she's met with a gruesome sight:

Midas is lying unconscious on the floor, glass piercing through his eye and blood staining his shirt and face with the broken mirror lying on the ground next to the glass shards.

"MIDAS!!"

Present day.

"I was told by my mother that the doctors did all they could for my eye, but the damage was already done. Thus I was permanently blind in my right eye, hence why I wear glasses sometimes. Although my golden power healed my eye within time, the golden pupil had disappeared as well. The scar itself, even if it had stopped bleeding, refused to heal or go away. So that's also permanent."

Midas sighs, unfolding his arms.

"After learning about the dispute between me and my father, my mother stopped seeing him and filed divorce papers, kicking my dad out the house, leaving the three of us. But it didn't make any difference to me. Thanks to my dad and my own actions, my innocence and happiness was shattered and stripped away from me...and have been ever since..."
