《The Newborn》Chapter 12

It's been a few months since the Cullen's left, and Novalee is hanging out at her rock. She doesn't cross the treaty, because since she's still at home, the treaty is still in tact.
She looks up and finds Sam's wolf with another. This wolf has grey fur with some black spots, and a darkened nose. He seems sleeker then the others. The only wolf Novalee smells is Sam as she stares at the grey wolf. The wolf looks up, feeling eyes on him, and meets the vampire's eyes - and imprints.
Sam looks away from Embry Call and finds who he's imprinting on and he sees Novalee. He should have known, because he did smell the vampire. His eyes widen as Embry whimpers, he's new to all of this.
Sam phases and slips into some shorts, and walks over to Embry's wolf. "It's okay, Embry." Sam looks at Novalee, seeing her eyes bright - she's mated. "Novalee, head home. I'll call when I finish talking to Embry."
Novalee nods and she looks at the shifter that reminds her of a timber wolf. The wolf looks back at her, his stomach in knots before he follows Sam. Novalee frowns before she goes home.

Embry Call is shocked to say the least when Sam finally finaishes their discussion. He imprinted on a vamoire, a Cullen. He knows Sam went to call her. Paul amd Jared are watching Embry, to see how he's going to react.
Harry walks in shortly, wheeling Billy Black inside. "Where's Sam?"
"Kitchen," Jared replies softly. "Did he call you?"
Harry looks at Embry and he nods. "He did." He walks into the kitchen.
Billy wheels himself over to Embry and he asks, "are you going to accept Novalee as your imprint?"

"She's a vampire, Billy," Embry reminds him.
"I'm aware," Billy replies. "I was filled in." He pauses. "We could grant her permission to cross the boarder, she can come here, to Sam's where he can watch her." Sam has returned to the room. "You can meet her in your human form when she isn't hunting."
Embry looks at Sam. "Is that okay, alpha? I'd like to... You know, meet her..."
"It's fine with me," Sam replies. "Harry? Billy?"
"Give me Novalee's number," Harry instructs, amd Sam does so. "I'll have her come over tomorrow."
When he leaves the room, Embry sits back with a sigh.
"Oh, I know the feeling," Paul says.
"No, you don't," Sam says. "Your imprint is human, Paul. Novalee is a blood sucker."
The word itself makes Embry growl.
"Sorry," Sam says quickly. "Novalee is a vampire."
Embry huffs. "Why did I have to imprint on her?"
"Be happy you gave one," Billy retorts. "I'd like to meet her, myself. I will at the next bonfire, I hope." He looks T Embry with those words. The wolf blushes, knowing Billy wants him to approve.
Jared smirks, amused.
"What is it, Jared?" Sam asks.
"I knew Novalee would change everything," Jared comments, and Embry growls. "Don't get your panties in a twist, Embry. It's a good thing. I like her, personally. She's pretty great. For a vampire."
"Paul, What do you think?" Sam asks.
"Of Novalee Cullen?" Paul asks with a raised eyebrow, his alpha nods. "For a vampire, she's not bad."
"Wow," Sam laughs. "You complimenting a vampire? Huh, never thought I'd hear that."
"Oh, shut up," Paul grumbles.
"Novalee has agreed to come over tomorrow," Harry says as he comes into the room again. "Sam, you or Paul meet her at the border in the woods."

"I will," Paul volunteers, earning a funny look from Harry. "What?"
"Nothing," Harry muses. "I'll be back tomorrow, to see if you approve, Embry." He leaves after Sam offers to drive Billy home,

Novalee is pacing the second floor living room after talking to Harry Clearwater from La Push. She's been granted permission to cross the boarder into the Quiluete territory. Her mate is a shifter. She has emailed Alice and Carlisle and Rosalie, telling them.
Jasper doesn't have email, so Novalee will have to trust that one of the others got the email, and tell him, and the others.
Novalee sighs as she finally calms down, and she goes to pick her outfit out for the next day for when she meets her mate's human form.

To The Far Shore
Post apocalyptic Oregon Trail. The apocalypse has come and gone. And come back again, and left again... nobody really knows how often. Nothing lasts forever, but nothing is ever completely gone. Which is a shame for young Mazelton, as his family has been around a terribly long time, and made an astonishing amount of enemies. Millenia's worth. So he has to run- from mobs, cannibals, soldiers, sailors, cholera, cattle, thieving sales-monks, starvation, mechanical horrors, vengeful spirits, negotiating your own marriage, and poison of every sort. Fortunately, his not terribly nice family has trained him well in the arts of core polishing. Or as you and I might know it- turning radioactive pellets into useful tools. And weapons. Updates Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Usual defensive tags applied. The goal isn't exactly family friendly, but you have probably seen worse on network TV. After the watershed. Not full blown HBO, let's say. This is the first novel I am sharing publicly, so feedback is very much appreciated and encouraged. Act 1 of the novel is completed, but do please let me know what works, what doesn't, and what you would like to see more of. Thank you, and Enjoy!
