《The Newborn》Chapter 2

The venom rushes through Novalee's veins, it was taking its time. Finally, as it begins to burn, Novalee screams and she bolts up to her feet, staring around, still in the same alley. She's scared, but what can she say? She's a new vampire in Volterra, Italy. Novalee knew Laurent would be gone.
Novalee smells the blood from the population of Volterra, glad it's nightfall and that there's not too many humans. She walks out of the alley, making sure no one human can see her crimson eyes asbshs hurries in the direction of the Volturi castle. Novalee is terrified, and hopes she makes it before sunrise. Because when she looked at a clock inside an electronics store when she left the alley, it's almost sunrise.
The newborn vampire sighs in relief as she sneaks past the guards of the Volturi castle, she flashes inside right as she sees her arm sparkle. A taller vampire rushes over and he slams her against the stone wall. She can feel his anger and tension, so she focuses, and calms him down.
"She's new, Felix," the smaller one says. "Do not touch her, Felix. I will inform the kings." The guy looks at the newborn before he walks quickly down the stone halls.
"What's your name?" Felix asks casually as he leans against the wall, he knows that Novalee is an empath - she can feel and manipulate emotions.
"Novalee," she replies in a quiet voice, knowing that he can hear her. "Novalee Morningstar, Born in Athens, Greece."
"You're a long way from home, sweetheart," Felix teases as the other guy comes back. "Demitri?"
"Aro would like to see you now, Miss Morningstar," Demitri informs her and then he walks away again, Novalee is quick to follow.

Felix amd Demitri soon lead Novalee into the throne room where the three kings sit in their thrones. Aro stands as soon as he spots her.
"Well, this is a pleasant surprise," the vampire coos before he vamp speeds to her, Novalee remains unphased. "May I?" He holds his hand out, and Novalee let's him take hers, she's in her ripped dress.
Aro gasps as he lets her hand go, he saw her death. "Jane, dear, get this darling some clothes and a bath... I'm sending her to the Cullen's." Aro walks over to a table where a phone is, he's calling Carlisle Cullen in Forks.
Jane, a blonde vampire, motions for Novalee to follow without speaking, and the two vampires leave the room.

Novalee Morningstar gets off of a plane in Port Angeles, Washington and its a beautiful cloudy day - which the new vampire is thankful for. She pulls the suitcase Athenadora packed for her until she sees a sign with her name written in a beautiful cursive.
"Are you Carlisle?" Novalee asks in her Greek accent as she approaches the golden eyed vampire.
"Yes, and you're Novalee?" Carlisle replies, and she nods. "You Can remove your glasses in the car. We know you're new. We can help you become a vegetarian. We feed on animal blood."
"So I won't have to hurt a human?" Novalee smiles, and Carlisle shakes his head no. "Thank god, I wouldn't want to. Animals can reproduce easier."
Carlisle smiles at Novalee, he had expected her to be crazy and destined to kill any amp every human being. When Carlisle left, Emmett was setting up to test her abilities. Aro told the Cullen's that Novalee is an empath and a tracker. She is one of the rare vampires that has two abilities.

Novalee follows Carlisle around the house of the Cullen mansion, and they find Emmett standing at a dead tree trunk that he carried to the yard.
"You the newbie?" Emmett asks, Novalee nods shyly.
"Emmett, be nice," a blonde scolds. "I'm Rosalie," she says amd shakes the vampire's hand. "And this idiot is my mate, Emmett. I'm sure Aro explained vampirism and the things that come with it to you?"
Novalee nods. "He did." She sighs. "I'm Novalee."
"Do you arm wrestle?" Emmett asks, sounding like an excited elementary school kid getting ready for recess.
Novalee smirks, making Emmett's eyes brighten.
"Another competitive one," a girl with a pixie cut chirps as she flashes out. "This ought to be good. Hi!" She hugs the new vampire. "I'm Alice. Welcome to the family."
Novalee leans forward and connects her hand with Emmett's. The pair meet eyes, and Carlisle yells go as two more vampires come out. Novalee easily beats Emmett and she smiles.
"There, that was easy," Novalee says as she cracks her knuckles, and she looks at the two that just exited. "Who are you?"
"I'm Edward," the one with his hair combed back replies. "This is Jasper."
"Oh," Novalee gushes. "I'm Novalee. New vampire."
"Now I am not alone being the new one to the diet," Jasper says smoothly. "I spent so long on human blood, I am right now maintaining control."
"That's good," Novalee says amd she spots a beautiful woman with caremel hair on the balcony.
"That's Esme," Alice coos. "Carlisle's mate."
"I have to call Sam Uley," Carlisle says. "Set up a meeting, explain the treaty to Novalee, amd have her sign it." He smiles ya the Greek vampire and he goes inside.
"Can someone take me to hunt, show me this treaty line so I don't accidentally cross it?" Novalee asks the ones who remained outside, which were the guys.
"I will," Emmett replies. "Tell Rosalie I'll be back and what I'm doing."
When Jasper and Edward nod, Emmett leads Novalee into the woods.

Small Chests Are Fine Too
It is an undeniable fact that good things come in small packages. More often than not, it is necessary to trim the fat in order to bring what really matters to the forefront. Having extra bulk may seem like a good idea, but in reality it is merely a crutch that will one day become a hindrance, as it is no substitute for personality nor ability. Indeed, often times it is the small things in life that brighten up our daily lives and constantly remind us exactly why we do the things we do. However, it is important to keep an open mind, for while bigger is not always better, there are also times when it is. This holds especially true when it comes to hopes and dreams, which have been known to require a suitably large container from time to time. And while dreaming big could potentially lead to massive dissapointment, one will never truly reach fulfilment if they think too small. A truth that one small woman with meager aspirations is about to find out. DISCLAIMER: This is a spin-off/side story of my main series, Everybody Loves Large Chests, which is also mandatory reading to understand this one. It runs parallel to the main plot, branching off from the chapter titled Upheaval 2, so there will be spoilers for anyone who hasn't reached that point.

"Elves of the Northern Vale" A Tundrawolf Story
As happened many times in the past the Fell Ice once again charged down from the north and attacked the world in its effort to turn it into a frozen ball of ice. Only the White Magic and it's ally the Sun could stand against such a vast enemy. From their home in the Valley of the Sun the great tribe of Elves could only watch as the monumental fight unfolded. As the battle intensified and the valley became threatened the tribe separated back into their four original tribes and each made their way back to their ancestral homes. Within their Vales, behind thick stone walls and under powerful domes of magic, they were protected from the onslaught upon the earth. The Elves watched for thousands upon thousands of turns as the war raged overhead. The Fell Ice against the Sun and the White Magic were locked in a struggle lasting for an age, with neither side claiming victory as the earth was ravaged. In time the Fell Ice retreated, as it had so many times in the past. Beaten, yet not defeated, only biding it's time for the next attack. It returned to its frozen Kingdom at the Top of the World, thus ending this last Age of Ice. This time, as the earth warmed around them, the Elves remained secluded from the world in their hidden Vales. They observed from afar life returning to the lands and took stock of man becoming the dominant ones as their numbers grew and spread. As the Elves watched they felt safe and secure in their Vale strongholds. They had no idea of the danger that was about to befall them. This is a stand-alone sequel to my story "Druids Bane".
