[Thank you to KellyAnneBlount for hosting the Wattpad Block Party once again and for making the event possible. It's an honor to be a part of the August 2018 Wattpad Block Party and I cannot thank you enough for all that you do for the Wattpad community.]
Hello! I'm Bree, a full-time college student and part-time writer. For the past five years, I've been on Wattpad as an avid reader and aspiring writer with the username . I'm an absolute sucker for romance and young adult fiction so that's what I tend to write. Here's what I've been up to on Wattpad:
Anyway, for this Wattpad Block Party, I'm presenting an assortment of tips and tricks that may be helpful for both new and continuing Wattpad writers. From addressing how I make covers to talking about Wattpad popularity, this post will cover almost everything!
Now let's go ahead and dive in!
[Note: These are simply tips and tricks that I think are informative and potentially useful. I'll be answering a few frequently asked questions in this post.]
I primarily use Photoshop (Adobe Photoshop CC 2018) on my laptop to create my story covers and graphics. While Photoshop is a great application to use for photo editing, it's a pricey application. Luckily, there are plenty of alternative applications that work well for making covers and graphics. Here's an edit of my favorite photo editing applications/websites...
On a desktop/laptop:
[Paid] Photoshop
[Free] Canva
Note: There are a lot of tutorials on how to use Photoshop and Canva for making covers/graphics on YouTube!
On a smartphone:
[Free] Phonto
[Free] Vsco
Note: I use Vsco for minor photo editing then Phonto for adding text.
If you're wondering where I get my photos from...
A few websites that I search for photos on:
StockSnap, Pexels, Pixabay

Note: Can you tell that I like looking through sites with free stock photos?
If you're wondering where I get my fonts from...
A few websites that I search for fonts on:
Google Fonts, FontSpace, DaFont
Note: These sites have many free fonts for personal and commercial use.
And there you have it! That's my (not-so-secret) formula for creating covers and other graphics.
While I have developed a formula for making covers and graphics, I cannot confidently say that I have figured out the exact formula for gaining readers on Wattpad. Although this may be true, I have a few ideas on how Wattpad writers can increase their chances at gaining more readers.
Suggestions:
(1) Update your stories regularly
(2) Complete your stories
(3) Interact with your readers and Wattpad users in general
(4) Join Wattpad Clubs
(5) Have an appealing cover
(6) Incorporate multimedia, book trailers, and casts
(7) Have a strong introduction and/or synopsis of your story
(8) Utilize spelling and grammar checking applications
Also, remember that readers come with time. Hard work pays off.
As a writer who is constantly struck by writer's block, I have learned a few ways to get over writer's block. Is it easy? No. Is it possible? Yes.
Suggestions:
(1) Inspire yourself
(2) Inspire yourself
(3) Inspire yourself
As you may be able to tell, I think that it is highly important that you seek inspiration when you're hit with writer's block. I'll share numerous ways in which you can become inspired...
How to become inspired to write again:
(1) Go out to parks, museums, or boutiques
(2) Watch a new show or movie
(3) Read blogs, books, or articles
(4) Engage in some free writing
(5) Listen to new music
(6) Make a concrete list of writing goals
(7) Try writing your story out of order

(8) Get a good night of rest

It's really rewarding when a reader notices that your writing skills have improved over time. Every writer has room for improvement, here are ways that can help you improve your writing skills:
(1) Read novels, articles, and just about anything else
(2) Utilize Grammarly or other applications designed for spell checking and grammar checking
(3) Refresh your knowledge of various components of grammar
(4) Have someone read and critique your work
(5) Be open to criticism and hear out the suggestions of others
(6) Use a thesaurus and dictionary
(7) Take a creative writing course
(8) Keep on writing
Readers come with time, so does improvement.

Homeless (mxm)
Book 1 HomeLessBook 2 ReckLessBook 3 SenseLessBeing homeless isn't the end of the world. At least, that's what Zachary thought when he found himself on the streets after being kicked out at seventeen. It hadn't been his fault. His father had used him as a scapegoat and won his mother over, thinking that her husband was telling the truth about his cheating and that Zachary was the one who was bringing women over, trying to ruin their marriage. He'd argued his side, but once his mother decided on something, her mind would not be changed. That's how he came to live in the alley near the end of 73rd street between the old bakery and a laundromat. It wasn't anything special, but after three years he'd managed to spruce up the place and make it almost-bearable to live in. Over the years he'd made friends with random people he often passed on the streets and did manage to hold down a few random jobs, but like everything else, they came, then went. Now he was left with fifteen dollars and twenty-two cents, a torn blanket, one outfit, and a dream for a better life. He just didn't know that he'd find it somewhere he'd never thought to look... or with someone he never knew he'd want.
