Carlisle Cullen was the son of an Anglican pastor. He was born sometime in 1640 in London, during a time of religious and political upheaval. His mother died giving birth to him. Carlisle's father and other pastors led hunts for werewolves, witches, and vampires, claiming that they were attempting to rid the world of evil and sin. However, these groups would often end up killing innocent citizens. As his father aged, Carlisle took over the raids. He was less at ease about killing as his father was, but he was intelligent enough to find a real coven of vampires inhabiting the sewers of London. Carlisle led the hunt after them, and in the chaos that ensued, he was attacked and left bleeding in the street by a vampire. Knowing what his father would do, Carlisle hid in a potato cellar for his painful transformation, emerging three days later as a vampire. Carlisle was repelled and horrified by what he had become and tried various ways of killing himself, including starvation, drowning, and jumping off cliffs. Eventually, he was so desperate for blood that while he was hiding in a cave in a forest he attacked and fed on a herd of passing deer. He found that he could survive off animal blood and he considered this much more humane than drinking the blood of a human, thereby killing them. Carlisle found new life in this fact and was able to perfect his ability to resist the bloodlust caused by the scent of human blood over two centuries. During these two centuries, Carlisle studied at night, becoming a "nighttime patron of the arts." As a result of his meticulous studying, Carlisle was able to become a brilliant doctor.

He was studying in Italy when he stumbled across the Volturi, the dominant vampire coven that was led by three vampires named Aro, Marcus, and Caius. They were much more educated and refined than those living in the sewers of London but still lived on human blood. While they attempted to convert Carlisle to his natural food source, their attempts were unsuccessful. After living with the Volturi for two decades, in the first decade that he was with them he heard about the triplets of course but he only met the twins, he was not in all the trials that's how he knew the triplets were real in one trial that he can no be part he was in a room close to the throne room when the screams filled the air but there was something different about them they were way worst, of course, he already saw in first hand the gifts of the twins in other trials, he got out of the room and he crosses path with Heidi- Heidi can I ask what is happening in the throne room?- Heidi just laugh she already can imagine what could be happening- Athena is what happen in there, the last sister of the triplet, I think you may know her today, don't go into her bad side she is worst than Alec and Jane- with that she left leaving him thinking who can have such a gift that makes others scream like that, Athena was intrigued about him, especially his eyes they were gold, it's not like she cares to kill humans she does not have respect for them, but because of orders of Aro she stays hidden in the shadows in that time she studied him, one thing she learns was that he was a good man and respects the human life it was just the only thing she didn't like about him.

While in the throne room the triplets were in the side of the room, Athena was torturing a vampire to make him talk and tell them the information that they needed, Aro couldn't know the answers because he had a weir gift that was repulsion, that make it impossible to him to read his thoughts, Thena was using a new gift that she got the gift of the nightmare combine with the fog, with each gift that she uses the color of her fog change, the vampire was starting to tell the truth and with the gift of the truth, they will know what is true or lie. Aro told one of the low guards to call Carlisle to the room when he enter the first thing he notice was blue smoke covering the vampire, and when he follow the smoke to the source he saw a teenager with blonde hair violet eyes, and small around at 4' 8" but realizes immediately that she is very dangerous. He could see the resemblance between them, even without him knowing that they are not blood brothers.

He could see now the power of the girl and why everyone was scared of her, and two minutes later she had the answers that her master wanted, Aro made a sign, and Felix and Demetri kill the vampire when the screams stop and the vampire was nowhere in sight, Aro wanted to present her daughter to his friend after all he could now trust in him to know he will not say anything.

- Carlisle I want to present to you my daughter

-Of course, it would be a pleasure

- Dear come here, I want to show you the person who has been here in the decade studying here in the castle- Carislisle didn't need to know that she already knew everything about him

- Yes master of course- she walks to them with her head high like a princess

-My friend this Athena, sister of Alec and Jane, Thena here is the leader with her brothers of my guard and my right hand- Carlisle could see that she was just not a simple vampire in his guard the love in his eyes while presenting her it was like a proud father presenting the goals of her daughter

Athena was getting a good feeling about him, not exactly like the one with Aro but like the one that she has with Marcus, she didn't want to say something else and messed up. Aro saw that her daughter was having problems, he was the only person besides the twins to know what is she feeling even though her face is blank, so he intervened- Athena go with the guard and bring the people that our prisoner talk about, if you see something off you act in the right way to bring them

- Of course, master, if you excuse me, nice meeting you Carlisle I hope that we cant talk later

- There is no problem Athena, I see you when you come back- she made a reverence and left with the elite guard

Two weeks later they were together in the library, Aro saw the hed questions so he let him ask them, that he will answer it's different- My friend you can ask I see the questions running in your head

With time Carlisle could know about Athena, they had long talks about everything a little, he taught her medicine when he saw that she had that spark of curiosity to know more, he gradually gained her trust, he saw a daughter in her and she saw a figure she could count on, you could say that she was his first adopted daughter, he could see her smile once or twice and on those occasions she was with her siblings, he saw that she was the sweetest person and she cared for others, she loved that others were happy, for example she sang to Marcus or read with him in the library, with Aro they could talk for hours and they loved to be in the garden, with Cauis she was seen discussing strategies, with Felix and Demetri they were seen playing pranks and jokes, with her brothers she was always learning or just hanging out and you could see how happy she was with them, with time she started to become that person with him, she started to study and spend quality time with him, either reading or both of them learning medicine and only once in all that time she smiled sincerely and it was a smile that could light up the darkest place, not that the others were not, but this one came naturally, and when they were together they no longer felt that heavy energy, now she was much more relaxed, obviously she still kept her face blank sometimes she smiled to him, she still kept her face blank. Carlisle had grown fond of the blonde and it was almost time for him to go on his way so in one of their conversations the subject came up -Athena soon I will leave Volterra, I have to go on my way- when he said those words for Athena it was like a bucket of water, her face became more serious and he noticed- I know we both don't think the same about humans and I respect that, I also know you are very curious about the world and I would be happy if you wanted to come with me to travel the world, you can have another life, get to know the world, and you can have another family, we could be family- her face was way too serious, she couldn't think of leaving their sibling, so she just stand up and left, Athena wanted to think, of course, Carlisle was a little worried that he crossed a line.

That same night after talking to his father he went to talk to Carlisle, he wanted to tell him what happened and from what he heard the next day he would leave, he walked to his room and knocked until Carlisle opened the door, he was surprised that she was thereafter not talking to him for weeks. - Athena, what can I do for you? come in.- I wanted to talk to you about what you told me about coming with you- her face was a poem he didn't think I had thought about it that much- I want to come with you, but not now, I won't leave my family yet and I don't think I ever will, I will most likely stay in the guard even after I leave here, but I would like to keep in touch with you so I know where to go when I decide to come and get you.-I'm glad to hear that you want to come, I'll keep writing to you, I hope you'll write to me to hear from you too, I hope to see you soon little one" and hugged her, Thena didn't know what to do, they were hugging her and she didn't know how to take that emotional step with another person still outside her circle, she remained like a statue while she did it, Carlisle laughed under his breath when he saw that she remained blank when they separated she spoke again -I hope you have a good trip- and she left, even he knew how difficult it was for her to say goodbye to him. And the next day Carlisle left Volterra to go on his way.
