She twisted the key twice and entered the place her and Shahroz now called home.
As she took a few steps inside, she could tell the place smelt faintly of Shahroz; a mix of his aftershave, wood, and something else which she couldn't pinpoint.
If she would speak honestly, then working as a doctor was slightly easier than studying medicine.
Shahroz worked as a urologist in one of Manchester's high-paying hospitals, and Marina worked as a cardiologist in a hospital a few blocks away.
Their Valima (wedding event hosted by the groom's side) happened a few days ago and she had been exhausted for the next couple of days.
Her phone vibrated and she pulled it out and unlocked it.
It was a text from Shahroz.
Can u do the groceries today?
She sighed as she released her caramel-coloured hair from its bun and brushed them till the strands had zero tangles.
She wanted to do something special for Shahroz today.
She was going to make cupcakes.
Can u pls do it? I'm already home now..
She could imagine her husband's sigh at the moment.
Truth was that she came back early so he would do the groceries instead.
She wanted to keep him away from the house for a while because she wanted to make it as a surprise for him.
ugh fine
She smirked.
She quickly grabbed the first thing she saw and hopped in the shower, her hands working twice as fast.
She was soon wet and clean and made her way to the dressing table to blow dry her hair before tying it in a messy bun and making her way downstairs.
She brought out the ingredients and got to work immediately.
She remembered when Shahroz told her that he likes caramel with his chocolate.
She was going to make chocolate cupcakes with salted caramel cream on top.
Marina was too busy watching the cupcakes in the oven that she didn't realise the door open and Shahroz entering.
He could smell something sweet and immediately made his way to the kitchen, his hands dumping the groceries on the table before taking his coat off and making his way to Marina.

"Where's my favourite biwi (wife)?" He playfully said as he made his way to Marina who was too busy cleaning up.
"You only have one biwi you arse." She didn't even turn around in his direction.
She was being fiesty now.
He slowly walked towards her and wrapped his arms around her and hugged her from behind, the front of his body with the back of hers as he bent down and kissed her hair.
"Oh my God get away from me Shahroz! It's already too hot in here!" She pushed him away and picked up the remote and turned on the air conditioner.
"I think you mean to say that I'm hot, Maria." She turned around to see him smirk and even wink at her after that.
She rolled her eyes and turned back around, taking the cupcakes out of the oven once she heard a ding and placed them on the table to let them cool.
"I wasn't talking about you, you cow."
His smirk grew even wider now.
"You know, Maria," he started, "your insults are getting lamer and lamer as the days pass."
"Just like yours."
She was preparing the cream in the piping bag when she turned around and flashed him a not-so-innocent smile.
Shahroz spoke up again.
"And you're getting hotter and hotter-"
"Just like y-"
She stopped doing whatever she was doing and turned around again, a defeated smile on her face and a teasing one on his.
She sighed as she made her way to the table and made a perfectly imperfect swirl on top of the cupcake before handing it to him.
"Here."
He took it and examined it before taking a bite hesitantly, his eyes lighting up once the caramel and the tinge of salt hit his taste buds.
"Oh my God caramel?!" he voiced disbelievingly, "You remembered?!"
She nodded her head with a smile.
"Hey." He made his way over to her, "Have a bite."
She turned around once she put the leftover ingredients in the fridge.
He took his cupcake and brought it near her mouth as she opened it and took a small bite, a smile appearing on her lips as she tasted the sweet goodness.

He noticed the little bit of caramel cream on her upper lip.
She always gets something on her lips everytime.
He didn't tell her this time.
He slowly brought his thumb on her upper lip and swiped it on her tender skin, the caramel getting on his thumb before he brought it to his own lips and licked it off while maintaining eye contact the entire time.
Her eyes dilated at the scene.
She could feel the atmosphere shift as her lips parted while their eyes were locked.
The next thing he said caused a shiver to run through her spine.
"I want to kiss you, Marina."
His hand went to her hair and he took off the clip, her caramel-coloured strands cascading down as her bangs framed her face, her jasmine scent as clear as day.
He tucked a few strands behind her left ear.
"Can I?"
He rasped and her breath hitched as he wrapped his arms around her waist, his eyes trained on her luscious lips before landing on her eyes, asking for permission.
She nodded.
His face slowly inched towards hers, his hot breath hitting her lips.
He wanted this so badly.
He stopped midway, his body suddenly losing all confidence of showing her what he felt for her.
But she didn't waste any time before wrapping her arms around his neck and slamming her lips on his, both of their eyes closing.
He looked taken aback for a second before recovering and moving his mouth with the same pace as hers, both of their hearts exploding in pure euphoria.
He backed her up against the fridge, his hands leaving her waist and holding her face delicately instead as they soon both slowly pulled away to gasp for air.
The tips of their noses were still touching as they gazed at each other, both of their cheeks flushed.
"Wow." He breathed as his eyes kept her captive, his gaze landing on her lips again.
He didn't waste a second in snaking his arms under her knees and back as he held her, her lips letting out a squeal as her hands instinctively went around his shoulders to prevent her from falling.
"Shahroz what are you doing?!" Her voice indicated fear and he smirked.
"You'll see." He gave her a sly grin as he carried her upstairs, his right leg kicking their bedroom door open before he closed it and gently laid her down on the bed.
She knew exactly what was going to happen now.
He turned on the dim bedside lamp and hovered over her, his lips peppering kisses all over her face as she giggled softly.
He kissed her forehead.
Her cheeks.
Her nose.
Her lips.
He leaned his forehead on hers as he whispered.
"I want you, Marina. I want you." His lips brushed hers as he spoke, "But you can still stop me if it's too much, okay?"
She nodded before he pressed a lingering kiss on the corner of her mouth.
"Sh-Shahroz." She whimpered, her honey-like voice doing things to him.
"Marina." He mumbled as he gently rubbed his nose with hers, "My sweet, sweet Marina."
He took his shirt off and kissed her slowly down her neck, her lips letting out the most sinful of sounds as her hands were tugging on his hair repeatedly, messing it up.
Once he had gotten enough of the reactions he wanted from her, his hands planted themselves beside her head, his own head lifting up as his eyes met her hooded ones.
They were softly panting, his lips sporting a breathtaking grin as she soon did the same, the motion causing him to lower his head down to hers again.
Soon, the barrier of clothes were no more. Soon, their lips only uttered the other person's name. Soon, their hearts exploded in sheer ecstasy.
Soon, they became one.
