"We will let you know the answer by tonight, In Sha Allah." Wania's Chachu said shaking his hand with her most possibly future father in law.
Everyone stood there at the doorstep biding bye to the guests with warm smiles while the groom, Warid enviously glared at Wania causing her smirk at him in return.
Noticing their eyes waging war like always, Isaa pinched on Warid's shoulder abruptly seeking his attention.
"How deeply I hate this little lioness, you know!" Warid clenched his fists as he gave Wania a look of hatred earning the same from her.
"Feelings are the same from her side too, boy!" Isaa whispered.
His gaze travelled to Wania who looked back at him, her expression immediately changed as agony engulfed the playfulness she had a minute ago.
"Warid, come on." His Ammi called him as they stepped out of the door.
As soon as they left, the girls shouted out of excitement and mercilessly threw their bodies on Wania.
"Eeee leave me nooo." Wania forced them away and ran to the terrace the next minute.
She looked down seeing Warid helping his parents get up in the car.
He coincidentally looked up and met with her gaze.
He made his hand up and opened first 3 fingers showing the gun sign and shot at her.
"Coward." Wania whispered and stepped back.
They'd been senior and junior since medical and also colleagues in their hospital of London.
Not ever talking to each other, still they had expressions, deeds and eye shots among them to show their feelings of hatred towards each other.
Hatred they thought they feel for each other, while in real that's love!
Only to be reminded that she liked Isaa so much that she only dreamt of marrying him, her eyes invited tears thinking about her future with Warid.
She noticed Isaa walking inside the terrace, not noticing her as he's busy checking out something in his phone.
"What is your problem Isaa? Am I any wall between you and your wife? Did I ever trouble you?"
••••
"Taste the Kabab, Isaa. You are only eating butter chicken." Isaa's Ammi said at which he shook his head and again took a spoonful of butter chicken from the bowl.
Mayrah murderously glared at his way noticing him enjoying his food so much. She fumed with jealousy as she was the one to make Kabab but he's only eating the curry made by Wania.
All the while eating, she kept her gaze fixed on him, witnessing his every moan and expression of gratitude with every morsel he ate.
"Wania....are you ok with this proposal?"
She gasped hearing this question.
Mayrah noticed Isaa immediately looking up at this which tensed her more.
"There's no pressure Wania! We'll deny if you....."
"I've...no.. problem." She answered closing her eyes off as Warid's handsome face with his pure smile adorning his lips showed up in her mind.
"Mayrah made Kabab? These are so yummy." Musa exclaimed taking another Kabab making her beam.
At this, Isaa finally looked at the dish of kabab and extended his hand to take it to his side.
"Mm Mayrah. Give the bowl to me." He said, eyeing the place which only has 2 Kababs left in it.
"Why? These aren't for you."
Immediately Mayrah grabbed both of them and forcefully fed one to Musa and another to Hamza, who's sitting beside her being fed by her hand.
"What! Mayrah!" Her Ammi glared at her but giving her a look of 'I don't care', she continued feeding Hamza.

"Aahh! Fine! Chachi, the butter chicken bowl please." His words made her eyes widened as she gritted her teeth fuming in fury.
Both Mayrah and Isaa got up from the dinner table at the same time as they walked to the kitchen with their plates.
Mayrah kept the plate and washed her hands while from behind, Isaa tired to rest his chin on Mayrah's head but she moved back.
"Owww!"
She exited the kitchen leaving him confused.
Deciding to talk to her about it after going back to their room, he washed his hands and went back to the hall ignoring Mayrah's unusual mood all the while.
Tonight, not choosing to join other girls, Mayrah directly left to her room and begin doing her night job.
When Isaa didn't find her with his sisters, he also climbed up the stairs and went to his room.
"Wow! You are in the room instead of arguing with me for staying with your girls for a little longer?"
He asked as he found her combing her hair sitting in front of the dressing table.
She ignored his words and continued her job until Isaa made his way near her and hugged her from behind, looking at her reflection on the mirror with a warm smile in his lips.
"Baby, are you ignoring me?"
"I'm 18+ Alhamdulillah." She whispered making him chuckle.
"I'm also 28+, little baby!"
"I'm your wife if you remember. And don't disturb me na Isaa. I'm combing hair..."
"I'm also loving you Mayrah. Don't disturb me na."
He held her tighter nuzzling his nose in her hair as she gave up and continued her work.
He saw a chocolate sitting in the bedside table which was grabbed by him in the next second.
He forwarded his hand to give it to her but she shook her head signing that she's not in mood of eating it.
"Come on!"
This time she took it and kept on the dressing table.
"Chachuu! Chachu! Aani! Open the door Aani!"
They heard Hamza's voice as he kicked the door but couldn't get it opened.
"Coming." Mayrah forced Isaa back as she ran to open the door.
"Aani! Can I come inside? Ammi and Abbu are arguing, I don't like it." Hamza sadly said as he entered in.
"Ohh...good that you've come here."
She tied her hair with a punch clip and took the chocolate from the table.
As she gave it to Hamza, Isaa frowned getting more puzzled of her mood, knowing that she would never share a little piece of chocolate if she was fine.
Minutes passed as Mayrah remained busy with Hamza while Isaa was busy interrogating himself, trying to find out his mistake which ruined his wife's peace.
"Hamza, go to your room. It's late now." He said, Hamza nodded as he stood up to leave but Mayrah grabbed his hand shaking her head.
"Let him sleep with us tonight." Hamza jumped in excitement and Isaa in annoyance.
"He can't sleep without Haroon Bhai. Let him leave."
"I want to sleep with Aani."
"I want to sleep with Hamza."
"Mayrah, look at me." Isaa ordered.
"What?" She huffed not looking at him yet.
"Are you ignoring me?"
"Where? No."
"You are. Look at me. What happened?" He stood up and made his way towards her.
"No Isaa. I'm playing with him that is why I...."
"I know you. Tell me what....."
"I'm saying right. Why will I ignore you?"

"Why is your mood off?"
"No, why'll my mood be off?"
"Ufffoooo! Why are you both arguing now? My Ammi Abbu are better." Saying so Hamza stood up and ran out of the room.
Isaa sighed as he went to lock the room and came back to her.
She was on her way to go to the washroom but Isaa grabbed her hand causing her flinch as she bumped with his muscular chest.
"Mayrah?"
"Leave my hand."
"Tell me first, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. Let me go. I'm sleepy."
"Why is your face pale then?"
"Isaa please. Continue your investigation in your hospital. Leave my hand." She forced him back and left to the washroom closing the door as hard as she could.
He ruffled his hair in frustration walking around the room waiting for her to be back.
"Are you upset with me?" He asked but she ignored him and laid down on the bed.
He too got up and tried to pull her to his arms but she hugged her side pillow moving away.
"Mayrah."
"I'm sleepy. Kindly turn off the lights and sleep."
"Why are you ignoring me? What did I do?"
"You did nothing. I'm sleepy."
"Fine! Sleep well." He gave up and left the bed.
Taking his laptop he began working but couldn't at all move his attention from her.
There, Mayrah tried her best to sleep to get rid of her thoughts but failed.
"I thought you felt the same for me, but despite knowing that...I like you....you ignored it all."
"You should have informed me about Mayrah. You gave me false hopes Isaa"
"I gave you hopes? Wania I've never even take to your feelings to my attention."
"I'm asking once again Mayrah. Tell me what's wrong? Look we can solve it right?"
Came his question as he hated to be ignored by his wife.
"Nothing! Nothing at all."
Isaa ruffled his hair in frustration and stood up to reach to her the next moment.
He laid down and hauled her over him. She struggled moving out from his grip but he grew his grip tighter on her and held her head to his chest.
"Isaa let me go!"
"Sleep in your place sweetheart."
He kissed her head and began caressing her back doing which for few minutes made her fall in sleep.
••••
At morning when Isaa finished showering and stepped out of the washroom in only his towel, he didn't find his clothes in the bed unlike other usual days.
Moving his gaze everywhere, he caught Mayrah on the balcony cleaning the railings.
"Where are my clothes?"
"On the closet."
"Why not in the bed?"
"I was busy. Can you take them out by yourself?"
"Yeah. Why not? Now onwards will take them out always by myself."
He huffed walking to the closet.
"Come down. I'm hungry."
"The breakfast must be on the table. You go, I'll come after finishing my works."
"But it's 10 now. They must have finished eating." He said buttoning up his shirts as she entered the room.
"The shirt isn't clean." She informed looking at it.
"Ooh....mm..give me another then."
She brought another shirt and forwarded her hand to pass it to him.
He tried to pull her to him but with a serious glare in return, she stepped back.
"Mayrah..I can't button up any of them." He complained walking to her.
Though she knows that he's lying just to catch her attention yet she agreed to help him as she turned and grabbed him by his collar.
His hands caught her waist as she began buttoning you his shirt.
"You look so cute being moody."
She struggled to move back but he held her tighter.
"I've works do do now Isaa.
You can't even take your food from the the KitchenAid yourself! Come on now."
Her words amazed him as he let out a chuckle and set her free from his grip.
She immediately regretted being so rude but didn't choose to apologize.
They silently went to the hall and found everyone busy in their works.
Mayrah was on her way to go to the kitchen but her Ammi called her for some work.
She totally forgot that Isaa was waiting for his breakfast.
Waiting for long 15 minutes, he looked around to find her busy talking to her Ammi.
He would himself bring food from the kitchen but both the daughter in laws are working there.
"WANIA!" He called Wania seeing her going towards the kitchen.
"Can you please make a cup of coffee for me?"
Mayrah's ears rang as she moved her attention to Isaa and immediately excused her Ammi.
"Sure."
"No Appi. I'll make that, sorry! Sorry I was talking to Amm..."
Before she could complete her sentence, Isaa stood up and left the dining room.
"Isaa....."
"What's wrong Mayrah?" Wania asked but Mayrah shook her head and followed him.
Before she could stop him, he already got up in the car and drove away.
The whole day passed with Mayrah suffering in guilt for her words and actions towards him.
••••
It was the evening when Isaa came back from the hospital and sat on the couch of his room for getting relaxed. While thinking about the exhausting day, he received a call from Warid as they both began talking about their memories made in London.
"Did you watch the video?"
Warid asked as he sent a video of few little kids playing who were the patients of their hospital.
"I just watched it! Ma Sha Allah they are sooooo cute!"
He joyously exclaimed.
Over jokes, he laughed out loud seeking Mayrah's attention who was passing by their door.
She thought to go inside and talk to him apologizing about the morning encounter but the further conversation made her hault.
"Wania is looking like an angel in that video! I'm envious that you'll spend more time with her once you go back to London after Nikah." Isaa spoke about one of the kids.
Mayrah waited for few minutes and then opened the door to get inside.
Ignoring him, she ran to the washroom and hardly slammed the door close.
"Warid I'll call you later. Allah Hafiz." He cut the call and waited for her to be back.
Once she came out, he walked to her but she crossed his path and tried to get on the bed but instead was pulled by Isaa's hand to his chest.
"Are you still ignor.........why...are you..crying?"
"Leave my hand."
"What happened Mayrah? Are you ok? Hey..." He tightened his grip on her as she struggled to move.
"Isaa leave my hand."
"Come on Mayrah. What happened? Why are you doing this?"
"Please Isaa." He wiped her tears and dragged her to the couch.
"I'm sorry if I did something. But please tell me what I did?"
He asked kissing her cheeks as they sat on the touch.
"Nothing."
"Mayrah... please."
"She..loves you. She..she said that you gave her hopes to marry her? She waited for you. And now you both always keep exchanging looks as if......."
She spoke hugging him.
"Wania?"
"I..I didn't tell you to marry me, did I? But now you like foods prepared by her, you find her the cutest and you also feel envious because you won't be able to spend time with her going to... London."
"W H A T?" Isaa's mouth gaped open as he realized that he misunderstood his conversation.
"Mayrah....hey, listen to me." He tried to kiss her but she immediately turned her face away.
"Sweetheart please. Let me explain at least."
"I don't need any explanation. Leave me."
"Hey, I love you. How can you even think like that? I love you Mayrah."
"I know so very well. Now please let me go."
"That Wania was our patient who's of 4 years old. I talked about her. Not this Wania."
"Don't make stories now. Whatever, I've to go, please leave me."
"Mayrah, listen to me please. You've been ignoring me since yesterday."
"You've Wania's attention. Go and talk to her."
She tried to get freed of his hold but her words caused him grab her face dangerously close to his as their eyes met.
"I've my wife, why will I go to any other women?"
"Why do you then like foods cooked by her but not mine?" He felt guilty of that though it happened unintentionally.
"It's not like that, wifey. I'm sorry."
"Ok. Now leave me."
"How can I leave you? I missed you so much." He pouted resting his head down in her lap.
"You..you also lied to me saying.... surgery will work. But reports say that it has only 4% possibilities to....save my life." She complained.
"Saving lives depends on Allah, not surgeries or reports. Even if it was only 1%, I would have worked on it."
She wiped her tears and began playing with his hair. They remained in a peaceful silence until Isaa heard her sobbing again.
"Wania... Appi...was better...for you right? She loves you..."
"Allah! That's not love. Please now don't....."
"Let's just do one thing, before I die...marry her, that will be easier for you to forget me when I leave you."
She spoke in a serious tone.
Isaa smirked as he thought over it for few seconds.
"Fine then, how can I object my wife? Surely I'll propose Wania, happy? And then I'll lead my life with her, have kids with her, and you'll keep blessing us a very happy life together."
She looked at him silently for a minute that he did the same. Waiting for her reply, he looked at her questioningly with a smirk and the next minute she gifted him a tight slap in his cheek.
"Ouch wifey!"
"Mannerless coward. I dare you to think about any other women, I'll cut off your throat."
"Eeeww stop Mayrah. It's hurting." She kept punching and slapping him until they both fell on the floor with Mayrah under him.
"I love you."
"I'm still jealous....you are really bad."

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
