Chapter 29
Silence followed after Elder Drake's unexpected confession, the reaction was to be expected. I myself was lost as to what Elder Drake knew that was related to our problems with the rogues.
Though I knew there was a need for us to learn of it and stop it before it led to an excessive amount of blood being shed.
Realising that I had been lost in my own thoughts for what seemed to have been an excessive amount of time. I realised that no one had spoken and Elder Drake simply stood silently at the door waiting for permission to speak.
I turned towards the other Alphas who in turn were looking for me to speak. All I could think of was that in this room I had some of the most powerful Alphas yet they were all looking at me for a sense of direction.
I looked towards Alek thought I was unsure of what I wanted to see in his face. Though when I looked in his eyes I saw numerous emotions flash through them there was determination, hope, fear, pride and most of all love. I took a deep breath and acknowledged what passed between us with a small smile.
"Okay Drake tell us what you know" as my words acknowledged his presence he walked forwards into the room being closely followed by Drew. As Drake sat down Drew looked towards me to see what he should do if he was allowed in this meeting. I nodded for Drew to sit down then turned towards the Alphas within the room.
"Men if you feel that you want your Betas in the room feel free to call them in we might be in need of their help" I said.
They nodded and accepted my comment with all of them calling their Betas. I knew that we were going to need their experience and knowledge on these matters.
We could not forget that there was war coming and since our Betas are our second in command they needed to be kept well up to date on the matters involving it.
As soon as the betas entered we offered our welcome in simple words. I decided that we must get to the problem at hand there was no point in wasting time.
"Elder Drake tell us what you know and do not bother lying to us" I spoke my tone firm. Even thought I had listened to what he had said before I was still wary of his motives.
"Yes Alpha Van Derbergh, well as I was speaking to you before it all stems from the lost monarchy" Drake started.
I was about to stop him and tell him we had already heard this all before when I came to the realisation that the other Alphas had not. Only Alek and I had heard the story of the wicked queen and the creation of the Ordinem Lupus.

So I let Elder Drake inform the other Alphas in the room of what we had already heard waiting for him to get to the point in which he had last spoken to us about.
Elder Drake was not stopped throughout his retelling of the ancient forgotten truth. Even though no one spoke it did not mean there were not any interruptions. Most were from the Betas who were unable to control themselves with gasps of shock.
"Yes this is all very well and good but how is this connected to Leila and the Locus pack" Alpha Dane asked confusion colouring his tone after hearing all that Alek and I had heard before of the Order of the wolf and their rebellion against the Queen.
"It has everything to do with Alpha Van Derbergh" Elder Drake spoke without expanding on it leaving on us all confused.
I couldn't help but feel irritated for he was still skating around the truth and it seemed like I was not the only one whose patience had ended.
"Listen here old man we have had enough of your bullshit either you tell us what we want to know now or I swear you're going to regret being born" Alek growled.
Everyone was shocked at Alek's outburst but I couldn't help but think he looked incredibly sexy when he was angry. With his dark hair contrasting with his anger filled face and his eyebrows pulled upwards in a gesture as if daring Drake to defy him.
Alek's threat seemed to have worked on Elder Drake for the blood had drained from his face as he nodded and gulped before speaking again. No doubt from the expression on the Alphas and Betas faces they were incredibly amused at Drakes reaction.
"I understand Alpha Aleksander Morreti but there is still more to the story than you know. It was unknown to Marius and the rest of the Ordinem lupus that weeks before the last battle took place the queen had in fact given birth to a child".
At this gasps filled the room the queen had a child I knew I was not the only one who had not foreseen this turn of events. Though he still wasn't answering the questions that Alek had asked.
"Elder Drake even though this has been an interesting lesson of our history you still have not answered our questions" Alpha Michael spoke as if mirroring my thought process.
Before anyone could say anything else Elder Drake spoke "the point that I am trying to make is that the leader of the hunters and the rogues is Cassius Ceaser and he is the descendant of the wicked queen and the heir to the lost monarchy".

Silence that is all that followed Elder Drakes confession.
All the Alphas were looking at one another, shocked this was not what they had expected to hear. Though it seemed to be so obvious who else would have the power and sheer dominance to bring the rogues and hunters together.
Who else would attack the Silver shadow pack all those weeks ago they had been the most powerful pack before my pack replaced them. It made so much sense if you wanted power the first thing you would do is raise an army and then destroy your enemy which would be the strongest pack which at the time everyone still saw the Silver shadow pack to be.
"Okay I understand more about what kind of enemy were facing but how does it involve Alek and I, what have you been keeping from us" I asked still confused.
Elder Drake moved forwards to address me "Alpha have you ever wondered about the extent of your powers, the fact that you can use your command on wolves not within your own pack, your wolf's golden eyes and the connection you share with the other Alphas in this room."
I could see everyone contemplating what Drake had said but no one understood what he was trying to explain to us.
"Marius Vergbehdarn the leader of the Ordinem lupus, the order of the wolf was known for a special connection he shared with the alphas within his order" Drake spoke calmly.
This did not help me I had never felt as confused in my life as I did know "so you're saying I'm similar to Marius" I asked.
I looked around at the others and saw Alpha Danes expression change from confusion to shock as he stared at me.
Alpha Dane looked towards Drake as if in need of confirmation as Drake nodded. I realised I had enough of this pointless circling of irrelevant matters.
"Tell me what you know" I demanded Elder Drake.
Drake turned towards me staring me directly in the eyes before he started to speak "the other elders and me sensed the difference between you and the other alphas. Your strength and eyes made us question your lineage but your name confirmed it for us."
"What? What do my parents have to do with this?" confusion coloured my tone as Alek held my hand pulling me in his direction.
"Leila you said it yourself you don't know who your parents are "Alek said with a look full of understanding.
It seemed like I was the only one who didn't understand what was going on. It made me feel tired, so very tired I had no energy left my head was pounding leaving it hard for me to concentrate.
"It's all in your name" Alpha Michael gasped in shock.
"My name?" I asked.
Elder Drake looked me in the eyes trying to think of a way for me to understand he then took a piece of pen and paper after a second or two he waved his arms as if telling me to come to him.
I felt a slight reluctance to find out what had every Alpha around the room so shocked yet me so confused.
"Look at this" he said as he pushed the paper on the table closer towards me. What was on it had me even more confused it said Vergbehdarn. Before I could ask Drake about it he spoke.
"This is the name and the exact spelling of Marius the leader of the Ordinem Lupus's last name" as he spoke I began to wonder what the connection was.
"This is what happens when you swap the letters around" I watched as Drake started rewriting the letters in a different order as each letter was added it left me shocked and
scared at what was written before me.
"But how? It must just be a coincidence" I said but we all knew that I was trying to convince myself rather than anyone else.
"No its not, it explains everything especially your golden eyes, Marius was well known and easily recognised through his wolf eyes because they were gold" Drake said calmly.
I could not keep my eyes of the piece of paper for the reallocating of the letters from
Vergbehdarn became a name I knew only too well.
Van Derbergh.
My last name but how it was possible I didn't know it couldn't be it was just a simple coincidence, though even as I said it I knew it wasn't just a coincidence. It's not like my golden eyes are common.
"You see Alpha there has only been one bloodline that eyes have been golden" Elder Drake spoke.
I could only shake my head I was unwilling to believe in this turn of events.
"You are the last descendant of Marius Vergbehdarn and therefore the leader of the ordinem Lupus" Elder Drake's voice echoed across the room filling me with dread and what this meant for my packs future.
War and death.
