Chapter 27
It was time for the elders and the locus pack allies to arrive the last two days had been spent fortifying the compound, taking check of weapons followed with gruelling training led by Mick and Victor.
Normally it would have been led by Drew but he was still healing from his wounds something he hated. It did not matter much because I had needed him to help me with the preparations for the arrival of the elders and the alphas.
We had been rushed of our feet I barely saw Alek because we were busy with our own packs the only time we got to speak was at night to discuss the upcoming war and battle techniques.
It had affected the time I got to spend with Kevin Elise and Evan my heart went out to Alek for he had just met his son a few days ago and he hadn’t been able to spend any quality time with him.
Though I had noticed that during Alek’s lunch breaks he would always search out Kevin to play with him, to bond with him.
Though most of my thanks went to Evan who had been looking after Kevin and Elise while we were all too busy to. I couldn’t help but feel so proud of him he never once complained he knew of the war to come and why we couldn’t be there all the time.
It made me so happy to call him my younger brother even though we had no blood relation what so ever.
I could see the strain, the worry, the fear on my pack members faces but I could also see the determination that they would not lose this war no matter what it took they would fight to the death.
I felt apprehension myself for today was the day; the elders were to answer my questions I wanted to know what they had been hiding from me all this time.
“Alpha we have the food ready is there anything else that you need for me to do” Victor spoke breaking me out of my thoughts.
“No Victor thank you why don’t you take a break” I smiled Victor had been a great help whilst Drew had been unable to do all his beta duties.
Victor smiled bowing his head in thanks and walked towards the kitchen.
I decided to take a walk to see if I could rid myself of my apprehension but nothing I did was working.

I couldn’t help but nod at my wolf’s thoughts that yes we would to protect all those we cared for.
I prepared to walk back to the entrance of the house but before I took my first step Drew spoke through the pack link.
“Alpha the elders have arrived ...... and ...... I can’t explain but.......you have to see this “
As soon as the words left his lips I ran towards the entrance if Drew never ever sounded unsure of himself but when he spoke only a second ago it was the only exception to this.
I was unsure of what I would find but as soon as I came to the front of the pack house I was shocked into silence.
In front of me were not the elders but rather what was left of them they all looked beaten their clothes were ripped they were covered in blood and what was the most evident of all there was only three of them.
If anything I was scared to ask the question of where they were the only one there apart from the elders was one of their warriors who looked in worse shape than the elders he had a severe head wound his face pale and he was holding his side.
By the look of him I was surprised he had stayed on his feet for so long but no later than I had thought this he was falling to the ground but Trevor and Daniel who saw his state quickly caught him and looked to me for direction.
I quickly spun into action.
“Trevor Daniel take him to the pack doctor know” as soon as the words left my mouth they quickly rushed to take him inside.
I looked the elders over they weren’t as severely injured as the warrior but they still needed medical attention but they could wait to be seen.
“Drew take the elders inside to my office” I said then turned towards Mick as the elders were ushered inside.
“Mick take a group of warriors do a search of the grounds we don’t want any rogues or hunters on our territory.” He nodded his understanding and ran off into the woods with several wolves following him.
“Victor go get some drinks and a first aid kit for me and bring it to my office”.
As soon as I finished giving out orders I walked towards my office with Alek falling into step next to me.

“I didn’t expect the elders to arrive in such a way but at least they are here to answer our questions.” Alek said I nodded in acceptance.
As I entered my office I saw the elders sat together and set to work straight away on cleaning out there wounds and stitching them. I knew that the pack doctors would be busy downstairs and would be unable to see them for awhile.
It took some time before I had finished then I had the sudden realisation that the pack allies were going to arrive anytime.
“Drew go supervise the others we still have to finish the preparations for the packs coming keep me updated on when they arrive”.
“Yes Alpha” Drew replied as he walked out the door.
I looked over the Elders my eyes narrowed especially on elder Drake who looked like anything but his usual self.
“What happened to you?” I asked how could the powerful elders end up in such a state.
The elders looked at one another before elder drake spoke.
“We were betrayed by our own we were coming as you asked of us we made sure none knew of our location but our location was betrayed by the captain of our guard he had sided with the rogues and hunters we were attacked our warriors were able to hold them off giving us time to escape but we were chased and we barely made it across your border alive “.
I could tell he wasn’t lying from the look in his eyes he looked truly lost in his own mind as if reliving the horror in his mind.
“Elders we are sorry for your loss but we must get to the matter at hand we must know what you have been keeping from us” Alek spoke in a kind yet firm voice.
“ohhhhh yes” elder Drake answered he looked unsure and turned his head towards the other elders.
“You see the tale that we have not spoken to you about is the one that many think they know about yet they don’t” elder Drake spoke.
“What is it?” Alek asked confused.
“It’s the story of the days of the queen and the end of the monarchy you see many heard of and even remember that the old queen was corrupt and died leaving no heirs.” Elder Drake took a breath.
It was true we had all heard of the wicked queen for she was the last of the monarchy and had a huge effect on the werewolf world.
“But what is not commonly known and was hidden and forgotten by the people is that she had started a civil war amongst her own people. She killed without mercy men women children and felt no remorse all for her own gain. She even dealt with the rogues gaining their loyalty by promising them riches and the ability to do as they pleased.”
Elder Drakes eyes looked as if he was experiencing their pain I couldn’t help but feel sorry for the elders they were a shell of what they once were.
“Why is this relevant to us?” Alek asked confused there was no connections between us to this story.
“I will explain the queen that ruled before the last had been kind and caring but the last was nothing like her. The people wanted and needed for her to be stopped but no one had the power except for a few select wolves. Those wolves were the only ones who had equal the power of the queen for they all had pure wolf bloodlines. They had been the council for the previous queen to discuss matters of war and were her trusted confidants but were dismissed once the wicked queen took her throne.”
As elder Drake spoke I realised that everyone else sat in total silence their attention focused on the story at hand I felt it myself as he spoke it would be a huge development in our minds.
“They saw the suffering and knew it had to be stopped so they were called together by a well respected powerful wolf named Marius he led those wolves who became known as the Ordinem Lupus.”
“Ordinem Lupus” Alek asked confused.
“The order of the wolf anyway they managed to raise an army and defeat the queen leaving the werewolf world with no monarchy and the wolves were able to live in peace led by alphas that cared for their packs.”
“Yes I understand all that but how is it all relevant to us?” I asked confused why was he telling me all this.
Before elder Drake could answer there was a knock on my office door I called for them to come in Drew entered.
“Sorry alpha for interrupting but the alphas have arrived” Drew spoke.
I sighed I guess this conversation is going to have to wait.

Galactic Economics
Humanity enters the galaxy and makes First Contact, only to begin to realize that not everything is at it seems. It appears that the galactic alien community has forgotten to invent some rather important economic concepts that human civilization has taken for granted. This is a look at a hypothetical galactic scale barter economy, how that would work, or how as one of our main characters Sarah realizes... it doesn't. And as the galaxy falls apart at the seams, it's up to the best and brightest in humanity to put things back together. Story contains a lot about markets, logistics, development, and the best and worst of human history. Not so much Space Marines nuking aliens. If you enjoyed the trade negotiations and Senate politics in the Star Wars prequels, and wished that there was an entire standalone story consisting solely of those parts, this might be for you! Galactic Economics is also posted on reddit here.

Magic-Farming
A thought experiment gone out of control, inspired by kosnik4's popular story, Magic-Smithing. What would life be like for someone else who was transported to the world inside Magic-Smithing? Someone who wasn't as prone to encounter incresasingly dangerous people, whose life was a little less chaotic? What if this person was content with a simple life of farming? Tending to the plants, sowing seeds, and reaping a great harvest at the end of the year. Of course, he's also a data scientist, so he can't help but squeeze out the maximum possible efficiency of his time and the potential of his attributes. Who doesn't make excel spreadsheets in their spare time? This is a slightly more "Slice of Life" esque version of kosnik4's story. Hopefully lighthearted, funny, and as enjoyable to read as it is thinking of increasingly ridiculous skill progressions. Thanks to kosnik4 and Magic-Smithing for providing fertile grounds for creativity to thrive. NOTE: THIS IS A FAN FICTION, AND ALL INTELLECTUAL RIGHTS BELONG TO KOSNIK4. I'm a patron of his story, and love reading about what happens next in his story. I've tried my best to be as accurate to his canon science as possible, though it's not 100% feasible. Afterall, the story isn't even done yet! My plan for the releases is to release a single chapter a day until 3/7, and then release 4 chapters a week on M, W, F, & Sat. P.S. If anyone can figure out what the EXACT formula for Level XP is, I'd love to hear it. I'm starting to doubt my math and excel capabilities. I have an equation that is fairly accurate and stays close to his values, but not exactly the same.
