Chapter 26

I took a breath and looked up trying to gather all the information in my head to try and figure out what to do first, if we were going to war then there was an endless amount of things that needed to be done to protect the pack.

“Okay Victor I need you Trevor and Daniel to look after the pack get those from the Arma pack treated for their wounds, fed and given places to sleep. I also need you to make sure the patrols are effective and double the wolves we need to be aware if there are any rogues near our borders”. I looked into his eyes to see him going through the list of things he needed to do.

He then bowed his head towards me with a quick ”yes alpha” and then he was gone out the door. I looked to see both Drew and Mick staring at me intently for my next instructions.

“As much as I would like to wait to hear what the elders have been keeping from us the pack safety is our highest priority”. I could see they both felt the same worry painted on their faces for their family and friends.

“Mick I need you to go and check the safe room so that it is well protected it needs to be restocked with extra food and medicine due to the increase of Alek’s pack and those from the Arma pack. I also need you to check the weapons room to see if we need to get any more equipment.”

Mick nodded and was about to walk out the door when I stopped him. “Mick can you also spread the word about a pack meeting tonight and make sure everyone knows it’s compulsory to attend and if you see Alek tell him to come to my office he needs to hear this as well.” With that he was out the door.

A sigh escaped my lips thinking of Alek I would have hoped that I would have been given the chance to get to know my mate in peace. But no a war just had to break out.

I turned to Drew and saw a frown on his face and before I said anything he said “just because I hurt my arm doesn’t mean I’m useless I saw how you gave those jobs to Victor and Mick not even looking my way and I can’t even do the patrol”.

I could hear the hurt in his voice it must be affecting him not being able to do all his beta duties.

“Drew the reason I kept you in here is because I have a job for you that’s important I need you to call our allies and call a meeting with them. I wasn’t going to give an important job like that to Victor plus you already have experience with our allies”.

As I finished I saw a touch of colour come to Drew’s cheeks he was embarrassed at his reaction.

“It’s okay Drew I know your frustrated you can’t do all your beta duties but can you do that task for me it’s important you get a meeting with them as soon as possible”.

He nodded his head and stood up “oh and Drew start with Alpha Danes from the crescent moon pack he’s the most likely to agree plus it will be fun to see him especially after last time” I giggled.

As soon as the giggle left my lips my office door crashed open with a furious Alek standing there. He looked really sexy with his tall frame and his muscles outlined in the shirt he was wearing.

“What fun do you plan on having with the alpha of the crescent moon pack” Alek growled as he put extra emphasis on the word fun. I was confused why was he so angry I looked to Drew who noticed my confusion and he mouthed the word jealous to me as he walked out the door leaving me with Alek who looked like he was going to explode with rage.

“Are you jealous?” I asked Alek looking for conformation.

“No I’m not” Alek shouted but I could see his tanned cheek had taken on a tinge of pink it was so cute I couldn’t help but laugh.

Mate is so handsome, so sexy were so lucky to have him he’s so cute when he blushes.

I couldn’t help but burst into full blown laughter at my wolfs comment.

Alek didn’t seem to like this as a second later I was being held up against the wall with his body pressed against me. I couldn’t help it my breath hitched in my throat and my heart started beating at a fast pace due to his closeness. I could feel his entire body the hard ridges of his stomach and his muscled legs pushed against me.

“Hmmmmmm......” Alek hummed as he pressed his head into my neck and started kissing up and down the length of my neck as well as inhaling my scent. This was all new to me I felt slightly helpless but decided to follow my instincts and tilted my head so he had better access. He found the spot where my mark was supposed to be he kissed and sucked and I didn’t realise until it was too late what he was doing. He was giving me a hicky.

When he was done he trailed kisses up my neck until he reached my lips he kept the distance between our lips I couldn’t help the moan that left my lips. I could feel a blush cover my cheeks as I realised how laboured my breathing was I hoped he wouldn’t notice me moaning but he obviously did.

“Mio cara I love this blush that’s on your cheeks is that because of me I know you were enjoying it as much as I was” he chuckled I felt my cheeks turning a deeper shade of pink at his teasing I lifted my hands and smacked his chest.

Before I could do it a second time he grabbed my hands and held them above my head his lips were still as close as ever too mine it had me wishing he would just kiss me already instead of teasing me so.

“Know you did not answer my question before il mio amore” I couldn’t understand what he was saying in Italian but I knew it sounded so beautiful coming from his lips.

It took me a while to remember the question he had asked me and it had me in giggles again. Alek responded by lightly biting my lip that stopped my giggling instantly.

“Would you like to tell me what’s so funny mio cara, who is this alpha Dane to you” Alek growled I could hear the possessiveness in his voice it sent a shiver down my spine.

“It’s funny Alek because the fun I was talking about is because the last time we saw each other was when we bought our pack together to see if any of them were mates and James the alpha decided to start a food fight.”

I looked in Alek’s eyes and could still see he was unsure I didn’t blame him for his behaviour we hadn’t really discussed were our relationship was going especially with all these attacks going on.

I pushed my hands out of his grip and cupped his face in my hands he looked surprised I hadn’t really shown much affection towards him he always instigated our romantic moments.

“You have nothing to worry about Alek first of all alpha Danes is a happily mated man in his forties with four kids. Plus the only man I have romantic feelings for is standing right here holding me up against a wall”. I smiled as I looked in his eyes I saw them soften I couldn’t help myself he was just so handsome and sweet I pushed up on my toes to put our faces on an even level.

I kissed his cheeks, his forehead, his chin, his eyelids, and his nose I then hovered my lips over his I looked in his eyes and saw desire and love. It seemed like he was impatient because he couldn’t wait a moment longer and pushed his lips over mine.

It was a kiss fuelled by passion it was rough yet sweet at the same time he wrapped one arm around my waist and the other held my cheek in the palm of his hand. I wrapped my arms around his neck getting lost in the moment.

I quickly pulled away realising the seriousness of the situation he still didn’t know about the upcoming war. Alek reluctantly followed my lead and pulled away.

I was struggling to catch my breath as my face heated up.

“Alek there’s something important that I need to tell you” I said.

He looked in my eyes and I knew he could tell the situation was serious so he pulled away and went to sit down in one of the chairs across from my desk.

He nodded his head as if to tell me to speak.

I took a breath and told him about the council’s actions of keeping secrets how they were coming her to speak to me and about the upcoming war.

As I finished speaking and looked to see Alek was deep in his own thoughts he had a serious look on his face.

“I never trusted the council and never needed their help I have only met them on a few occasions but I had the same feeling as you as if they were keeping something from me. It has something to do with our heritage mio cara because the elders only reacted in that way when I told them my last name I wish we knew what the secret is” he sighed and rubbed his face.

I could tell he was tired I was to it had been a long day but we still had work to do.

“This war that is coming most alphas now it has been coming for a while the rogues and hunters have become increasingly powerful and the elders do nothing to stop it. It does not matter you can count on the Amor Vita pack to support you we need to stand together to fight them”.

I couldn’t help but smile Alek really was an amazing guy I’m so glad he is my mate. We spent the next hour discussing defensive techniques for our packs and tried to cover our weak points as best we could.

It was soon time for the pack meeting Alek thought it was best if we told the packs together about the imminent threat of war.

As soon as the packs were gathered we took it in turns to discuss the war many were afraid though you could see they would not go down without a fight. The talk soon moved to safety precautions and the protection for the young the old and those in fragile positions. Many were soon reassured about the situation of the safety for those they loved.

Before the meeting ended I had to discuss the new arrivals.

“Okay everyone there is also the matter that we will have the elders visiting us sometime this week you will be updated on the date and time of their arrival. We will also be having some of our allies arrive which will also be specified at a later date. Furthermore training will be pushed up any who wish to train will be given the opportunity the times will be listed on the bulletin boards. Does anyone have any questions? “.

As no one answered I dismissed the meeting as everyone drifted away I heard my stomach growl and realised that I needed to eat which also meant Alek had to eat also.

I heated up leftover pasta from the lunch that we hadn’t eaten in two bowls and sliced some fresh bread and butter which I left Alek to hold as I held the pasta as we walked back to my office.

We ate in a comfortable silence just enjoying each other’s presence. We finished our food and took the plates down stairs I told Alek to wait in my office as I checked on the kids who were probably sleeping. He agreed as he had to look over the papers for our notices to other alphas of the upcoming war.

I walked towards the kids room quietly only to hear giggling I peaked inside to see Evan putting Elise and Kevin to bed as he read them a story he had grown up so much since four years ago and his protectiveness of Elise never waned. It seemed to have spilled over onto Kevin as well. I saw Evan kiss both Elise and Kevin goodnight as he turned the light of and left the room.

He seemed shocked to see me standing there I couldn’t help but feel immensely proud of him.

“Hi sis I knew you had pack business so I tried to keep them both busy Kevin didn’t want to sleep alone so him and Elise are having a sleep over.” He nodded after explaining why Elsie was sleeping in Kevin’s room.

Evan rubbed his eyes and yawned poor thing looked so tired I gave him and hug “Thank you sweetie for looking after them today why don’t you go get some sleep know”.

He hugged me back and said a quick goodnight and walked off towards his room to get some sleep.

I felt tired myself but there was still much to do for the upcoming war my mind was working on plans of attack and defence as I walked back to my office.

As soon as I walked in I noticed Drew talking to Alek as soon as he felt my presence he stood up and spoke.

“Alpha I have spoken to all our allies and the alphas have confirmed their arrival in two days.”

I smiled that was quick normally it takes a week for the necessary plans at least something was going right I walked to my desk and flopped down in my chair exhaustion taking over.

Though I noticed a nervous Drew standing there it seemed he had something else to say.

“Alpha I also heard back from the elders................... “he looked at me as his voice trailed off.”

“Yes Drew “I said this was not the time for him to be nervous.

“They’re coming in two days as well alpha” he said.

Great just great I’m going to have at least six alphas in the same room as some stuck up elders it just has to be that difficult.
