Chapter 20

As soon as my head hit my pillow I drifted off into a dreamless sleep but I was awoken by someone opening my door I was about to jump on the intruder when my wolf relaxed and I knew it could only be one person.

“Mummy you awake?” Kevin whispered the moon was high in the sky and due to my wolf senses I could see him clearly in my door way.

“Yeah baby you ok what’s the matter?” I asked concerned at why he had come to my room in the middle of the night.

“Mummy can I sleeps with you pwease” he looked at me with pleading eyes.

I moved my blanket of me it was summer so I hadn’t needed it much “come jump in sweetie” I said as soon as the words left my mouth Kevin had jumped up into my arms and was cuddled into the crook of my body with my arms wrapped protectively around him.

“What happened Kevin that you woke up, normally it takes me ages to wake you up” I said looking him in the eyes.

“Keith wouldn’t let me sleep hes says something big is gonna happen” for a moment I was confused then I remembered Keith was Kevin’s wolf.

“So Keith is worried” I asked him still confused.

“No momma hes excited I donts knows why” no wonder Kevin had come to find me Keith and my wolf had a strong bond and we could calm them both down when needed.

“I hope you didn’t wake Evan and Elise on your way here sweetie” I wondered I hadn’t seen them for the past two days only short glimpses the whole hunter and rogue threat had kept me busy.

I couldn’t help but feel guilty even though I know they were perfectly happy running around the pack house playing around with their friends.

They has growm since the day I had found them and Evan was still as protective of Elise as ever.

“No mommy I didnts wake thems” he whispered I could see he was already drifting to sleep.

“Okay good boy know let sleep night sweetie” I said kissing him on his head he smiled at that then whispered “night momma love you” and then he was asleep.

I couldn’t help but smile as I drifted off to sleep as well holding Kevin impossibly close to me “I love you too hunny” I whispered falling into a deep peaceful sleep.

I woke up to Evan, Elise and Kevin jumping on my bed giggling and shouting “mommy wake up” and “sissy wake up” I couldn’t help but giggle along with them.

I growled playfully snatching kevin into my arms as he screamed for help it took a second for their Uncle Trevor and Uncle Daniel burst through the door looking for danger.

The funny thing was it looked like they had just woken up and they weren’t even dressed properly I couldn’t help but laugh at their confused faces. The kids joined in as well this only confused them more and added to our laughter.

After I had managed to calm myself and the kids down I looked towards them both “don’t worry there’s no danger me and the kids were just playing around” this solved their worry and their shoulders relaxed.

I was feeling in a good mood today and as I looked outside I saw the sun was already shining brightly in the sky. I wanted this good mood to continue my pack deserved a break especially after these past few days.

“Okay boys I have a job for you first I want you to go get dressed I’m going to make breakfast after that Trevor I want you to grab a group of guys outside and set up tables and chairs for the pack and I want you to get the barbecue going.” I took a breath a looked at Daniel.

“Daniel I want you to stay with me and Gesibelle and make a list of what we need so you can run to the store and get it all your going to need a few extra hands but it should be ok”.

They looked confused so I summed it up for them.

“Were having a pack barbecue today boys” as soon as I said barbecue the kids were jumping up and down and Trevor and Daniel were smiling.

“Okay kids go brush your teeth and get changed I’m going to go make us all chocolate chip pancakes okay” I said my response were “yays” from the kids and “you’re the best” from Trevor and Daniel.

I giggled and quickly changed and made quite a lot of pancakes so if anyone else wanted them they could just grab them.

It didn’t take long till word spread around the pack about the barbecue I didn’t have to mind link them Trevor had already done that so everyone was excited especially the kids.

As soon as we had eaten everybody was up and about Trevor had quickly run off to do the jobs I had set for him. It didn’t take long for me Gesibelle and Trevor to make a list and then he was off to the store.

Gesibelle and I had already started the prep for the side dishes the salad, coleslaw and more women had arrived so we had extra help.

Kevin, Evan and Elise had ran into the kitchen begging me to make my famous chocolate cake for the barbecue and I couldn’t resist their puppy dog eyes and pouty lips so their I was up to my elbows in chocolate finishing of cake number twenty.

We had the whole pack to cook for so I had to start on the other desserts a lemon tart and a vanilla cheesecake.

After we had finished I still had a lot of energy and nothing could bring my mood down I was with my pack the people I cared for. I had set up a rota as well for the border patrol so everyone had time to come and enjoy themselves.

I had seen the appreciation in their eyes when I had called them to tell them of the change they were all happy that they could spend some quality time with the whole pack.

I was just about to step out into the back yard when Gesibelle stopped me.

“Please tell me you’re going to change” she said I shook my head as if saying what’s the point.

“Leila you look like a tramp I am not letting you go out there in a stained baggy t-shirt and trousers” she hissed I could tell she was serious.

She dragged me up the stairs to her room throwing stuff out of her closet until she said “Finally, found it”.

She pulled out a bag with a beautiful white summers dress with a sky blue design across the borders.

“I’m not wearing that how will I fight in it” I said feeling self conscious I never wore dresses ever.

“Yes you are I bought this as a present for you but I didn’t have the time to give it know go put it on” I took the dress for her and held it in my hands I looked at her and saw her glaring at me.

I went to the bathroom and out it on and walked out she just stared at me then started crying I ran up to her worried about what was wrong.

“Sorry it’s just the hormones from being pregnant” I did a double take what.

“You’re pregnant” I gasped she nodded her head smiling I couldn’t help but return it and grabbed her into a big hug.

“You look so beautiful Leila there’s just one more thing” she said reaching up for my hair that I always kept it tied up so it wouldn’t get in the way. She let my hair out and fluffed it a little.

“You look amazing if I was a guy or a lesbian and you weren’t my alpha I would totally tap that” I couldn’t help but laugh at her words she was always trying to learn the new words the teenagers in the pack were using.

I looked in the mirror wow I did look different you could still tell it was me but know you could actually see my figure in the knee length dress and my hair was out and emphasised my heart shaped face.

I couldn’t help but groan when she pulled out a pair of sandals with blue beading she was really going to make me go out there like this I was ready but terrified.

I walked out with Gesibelle giving my shoulder a soft squeeze of encouragement I stepped out into the back yard were just a moment ago I had heard laughter and shouts it was now silence.

They were all looking at me in shock and surprise Trevor broke the silence “Well we definitely know our alphas a woman know” he said laughing the others joined in while I fake glared at his joke.

After Trevor little announcement everyone went back to having fun people came up to me and complimented me on the way I looked slowly the insecurities left. I realised I had nothing to fear they were my family they loved me any way.

I was playing with Kevin and the rest of the pups, I was looking after the rest of the pups with the help of Evan and Elise I had so much fun chasing after them that I didn’t realise that we had drawn a crowd everyone was sitting down with their cold drinks in hand watching us play with a smile on their faces watching their alpha play with the pups.

Everyone was getting ready to eat the meat was nearly ready to come off when Drew appeared at my side.

“Alpha there’s a situation” he said seriously I told the kids to go get themselves drink and sit down with the others.

“What’s wrong Drew?” I asked worried.

“The alpha of Amor Vita has arrived at our borders for your meeting” he said.

“I thought that was this afternoon” I groaned what was I going to do know ”okay Drew get Mick tell him of the situation and be ready just in case gather twenty warriors and head towards the border I’m coming.

I looked towards the pups and realised Kevin didn’t know what was happening he was oblivious so I decided to tell Gesibelle to keep an eye on the pups and ran towards the border.

The closer I got the clearer the conversation got I could hear my wolf purring at a delicious smell coming from the border it was heavenly.

I heard Drew talking to the alpha of Amor Vita.

“It’s nice to meet you Alpha Moretti” Drew said shaking his hand while I hid behind a tree for some reason I wanted to know how he would treat my Beta.

Drew had told me that Kellan had completely disregarded him when they had spoken to each other.

“Please call me Aleksander or Alek for short I hate formalities we are neighbours know and I hope soon to be friends” the alpha of Amor Vita replied smiling kindly at Drew.

I couldn’t help but stand there and admire him he was really handsome and young he looked to be in his late twenties. He had black hair and brown eyes and stood well over 6 foot. For some reason I wanted to run and hug him my wolf pushing me to do so.

Go to him, mine, all mine no one else’s.

I had never been more confused about what my wolf was talking about I knew I had to make an appearance so I ignored my wolf and walked up behind Drew he was so built and taller than my 5 foot 2 stature that I was hidden behind him.

“So where is your alpha beta Drew” Alek asked before Drew could respond I spoke.

“I’m right here “I moved away from Drew no longer being hidden behind him I looked and saw that the alpha had bought his entire pack even the children.

I suppose it was for their protection especially if they couldn’t leave any warriors behind.

I could tell Alpha Alek was looking at me so I looked directly in his eyes and felt myself melting into them his eyes were a vibrant chocolate that held me in and wouldn’t let me go. I wanted to be near him for him to hold me and kiss me.

What was going on?

We both looked at each other in shock his eyes held a hint of happiness.

My wolf answered in glee I was shocked I thought I already had an idiot for a mate how is this alpha my mate. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to his chest and growled I couldn’t help but find it extremely sexy he was so manly.

I guess I should be happy Gesibelle made me wear this dress.

“Il mio amore, il mio compagno” he whispered and inhaled my scent from my neck I couldn’t help but shiver at the closeness.

His pack and Drew gasped as he whispered those words many looked happy while I was confused as to what he had just said.

“Drew what happened” I asked reluctantly stepping away from the Alek.

“He just called you his love and his mate” he said getting over his shock.

“Well it seems like it" I was confused at how this was possible while I was mulling all this over in my head I forgot that we had not been properly introduced.

“Oh I forgot to introduce myself hello I am Leila Van Derbergh and I am the alpha of the locus pack it’s a pleasure to have you all here and it’s nice to meet you Alek”. I realised that I was rambling I didn’t really know what to say.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you as well il mi amore”Alek smiled at me.

“Well I wasn’t expecting your arrival until this afternoon...” Alek cut me off before I could finish.

“Oh I am sorry for not checking the time mio cara” he said I looked to Drew who answered my question through the mind link.

“He just called you my dear” he said.

Ohh I couldn’t help the blush that crept on my face. Alek saw it and brushed his finger across my check causing sparks to fly and I gasped for air.

“I like it when you blush its cute” I was about to die of embarrassment but I knew I had to act like an alpha instead of a little girl.

“As I was saying we weren’t expecting you until later but my pack are holding a little barbecue and you can all come and join there’s plenty of food and drinks for everyone and I’m sure the pups will be happy to have someone else to play with.” I said making the suggestion.

The alpha looked to his pack who all nodded their heads at him with smiles on their faces especially the pups who were already running around.

“We would love to join your barbecue mio cara and after there is some important that we must discuss” he said seriously I nodded my head in understanding Drew had told me he had wanted to talk about a serious matter.

I led the way back to where the rest of my pack were laughing as soon as I was clear of the Trees Kevin smiled and ran up to me “mummy” he screamed jumping into my arms.

I heard a growl from Alek I looked to him confused he came closer to Kevin and placed his hand on his head and inhaled his scent and whispered “il mio pup” I looked to Drew for a translation.

“My pup” Drew whispered in shock there was no sound form anyone, both packs were shocked with Kevin being the only exception smiling and giggling.

Alek was Kevin’s father.
