Chapter 9
They were laughing of all the things I had expected to happen the elders laughing their heads off was not even on the list.
As I had walked towards them I had expected there to be a punishment of sorts in disrespecting an elder’s warrior. Though as I reached them the men had burst into hysterical laughter while the women were trying to contain there giggles.
I stood there confused as to why they were acting so weird as their laughter died down the oldest who seemed to be the leader stepped towards me.
“Hello alpha of the Locus pack it is a pleasure to meet you I certainly did not expect it to be such an eventful evening I am Elder Drake” he spoke letting of another round of laughter.
I took in his appearance he looked as bulky as his warriors and looked to be in his 40s though I knew looks could be deceiving. Especially since he was an elder due to our longer ageing process he was probably a lot older.
“Aren’t you angry that I attacked your warrior” I asked so confused by his casual reference to the previous situation.
This time the women couldn’t hold back their giggles as one of them stepped forward and grasped my hands.
“No sweetheart were not angry someone needed to teach Decker a lesson he’s a chauvinist pig and homophobic. The only reason he’s a part of our guard is because of his father.” She staged whispered though everyone heard her load and clear and Decker face took on a red tinge while my pack snickered.
“I and my wolf do not take kindly to threats to our pack members of any sort to be perfectly honest he’s lucky he’s alive.” I explained to the elders.
“We understand you are an alpha it is to be expected that you do not like to be disrespected. Though the fact that you care for your pack members as they do for you shows your excellence at being an alpha”. The leader spoke while gesturing to my surrounding pack members who had moved closer forming a protective circle around us.
“It is surprising we have only just arrived yet your pack shows more allegiance and a caring nature than any other we have been too” an elder spoke he had bright vivid green eyes and seemed to be the youngest of the group and the quietest with an observing nature.
“Thank you it means a lot to my pack that you think so highly of us” I answered pride and love showing through my voice.
“We speak of what we see young one is it true that this pack homes over 200 rogue wolves”. I paused at that question it was asked in more of a curious then malicious voice by elder Drake.
“We do not see ourselves as rouges for many use that term to describe those who have lost themselves to their wolves. No the people here are the ones whose home caused them pain, those who wished for a better life for their family”. I answered in a surprisingly calm voice.

The elders looked shocked at my response but as soon as the shock wore of they were smiling elder drake was about to say something but was interrupted by my patrol wolves.
“Alpha there are rogues on our land six to be exact they are putting up a fight what would you like us to do”. One of the patrol wolves James asked.
“I’ll be there in two minutes try and subdue them for know don’t hurt them we don’t know what they want” I answered going into alpha mode.
“Yes alpha” James replied through the pack mind link.
“Mick I want you to escort the elders into the house we have rogues on the east border. Drew, Trevor, Daniel come with me the rest of you stay in your position be alert.” I spoke the power in my words had them bowing their heads with a chorus of “Yes alpha”.
I started to head towards the rogues but was stopped by a hand on my shoulder “we would like to accompany you alpha Leila we have heard much about you know we would like to see it for ourselves.” Elder drake spoke in a determined voice.
I knew I could not deny them so I nodded my head in acceptance “Mick stay with the pack keep an eye on everyone and don’t let Vicky eat my brownies”. Mick chuckled at my reference to his wife though she really needed to stop eating my brownies.
We ran to the eastern border as soon as I got their I saw my patrol had backed the rogues into a corner but they looked far from giving up.
I saw a few wounds on my patrol and that had my wolf begging for blood to be spilt.
”Enough” I commanded moving forward to stand in front of them as my patrol stood protectively around me.
“What are you doing on my land you know it is marked land and yet you still crossed?” the power behind my words had the rogues submitting.
That was when I noticed that they were all quite young looking and they looked dirty and half starved. They were all teenagers except one who looked to be about 3 who was being held by a girl who looked to be the same age as me.
They looked at one another than the eldest stepped forward “we are sorry for crossing on to your territory alpha but we had heard of your pack in passing and wish to ask if we could join”.
His voice cracked on the last few words I looked at them and saw pleading eyes begging me to take them in. I felt like accepting them then and there though my wolf was more cautious.
I sense that they are of no danger to our pack but before we accept them we must hear their story like all others.
“I will accept you into my pack but I must hear of your reasons why you wish to join and your past ordeals”. I saw hope light up in their eyes as the boy told me of their cruel past.

Their pack had been attacked by another and they were the only survivors and were kept as servants by their attackers. They were whipped and chained in the basement on a daily basis. Though they were able to protect Kia the three year old girl from whippings she could not be protected from all the beatings they faced.
One day the pack that had taken them was attacked by rogues and they were able to escape and had been running seeking shelter ever since.
“Please ...... please let us stay we hear in passing of a pack that was kind to rogues that is why we came to you. The other packs would not even take time to listen to what we had to say please let us stay”.
The girl who was holding Kia spoke for the first time tears falling down her face the others were no different. I could feel the pity coming from my pack but also the wish to help.
“Thank you for telling us your story, you can join our pack now if you so wish” I said smiling at them. They looked shocked but then ran towards me hugging me so fiercely that we all tumbled to the ground laughing.
The laughter echoed around with everyone joining in even the elders.
“Okay now, Drew come here guys this is Drew my beta and he’s going to take you to the pack house to get you cleaned up and give you some food we’ll talk a little later on. I have some pack business that needs to be dealt with.”
They smiled at Drew hugging him as well he looked surprised but then started to lead them towards the pack house soon enough they were out of sight.
I sighed than spoke again “James why don’t you and the rest of your team go to the pack doctor and get those cuts seen to I’ll do the rest of your patrol theirs only a hour left anyways”.
“Thanks alpha “James said his tone showing the pain he was in as a few others from his team helped him hop to the pack house.
“Well you handled that perfectly well like you have been doing it for years in fact are you sure your only 16”. Elder drake asked shock and amusement on his face as he took in the rest of his warriors and elders faces.
“I have been doing this since I was 14 so I know my way around meetings like this how do you think I have over 200 pack members”. I spoke stating facts.
“You have been doing this since you were 14 really were you not worried about rouges attacking you". It was the captain of the elder’s guard who had spoken.
“Most rogues I have met were forced into leaving their packs due to circumstances that they could not change. All they wanted was a second chance and this pack is where everyone is given a second chance at life.”
I took a deep breath before continuing “I am not stupid I know that when you came here you were expecting my pack to be full of mindless killers”. The look of shock on the captain’s face said it all.
“What you didn’t think I would notice the fact that there is a guard of 50 for only 6 elders I may be young but I am not stupid captain” he looked at me gobsmacked.
“The truth of the matter is my pack is full of the best people who wouldn’t hurt a fly. They are the victims of cruel alpha’s and mindless rogues who no nothing but evil. This pack was created for those who had done nothing wrong but were discarded by the other packs due to a label paced upon them that did not fit”.
I looked around at my pack members then directly at Elder Drake and his entourage.
“There are many that asked alpha upon alpha to take them in to listen to their story but they were ignored. The truth that you need to face is that there is a serious problem and it is not with my pack but those that are being run by cruel and useless alphas”.
I stopped speaking feeling that I had let what I wanted to say out know they knew how I felt I looked to Trevor and Daniel and I saw pride and happiness shining in them.
“Is it your job to stop this many have suffered and you do not even know about it. I know after hearing what I said you probably don’t want to make the Locus pack official but I would like you to think on what I have said for it should not be ignored”.
I started walking away my pack members following behind me when I was stopped by a voice shouting.
“Wait alpha what you have said has put us to shame we thank you for bringing this to our attention we would not know the severity of the problem if you had not”. Elder Drake spoke shame colouring his voice with the others bowing their heads.
The women who had spoken before came forward “I am Elder Isabelle and there are not many alphas like you that care for their pack you have spoken so truthfully for them and for others in the same situation.”
I could feel my wolf satisfied with knowing she was a good alpha that we had done well for our pack.
“The initiation will go on and be done by tonight you and your pack deserve it”. Elder Drake smiled at me.
I couldn’t help return the smile and laugh at the goofy smiles on Trevor and Daniels face.
Finally we were going to be a real pack though it didn’t really make a difference we are already family.
