Chapter 8
We stood there shocked they had arrived earlier than expected but I soon got into alpha mode and started giving orders.
"Okay Trevor I need you to go check if the rooms are ready, Mick you need to go inform the lady's of their arrival and that food should be served after the ceremony with no delays".
I took another deep breath and continued "and you Drew go downstairs and meet the elders while I go get changed. Does everyone know what they're doing?"
The three of them nodded their heads towards me and left the room I ran into my room looking for something suitable to wear frankly I was not prepared for an early arrival.
I realised I needed to send the pack a message of the elders arrival or they would not know until to late.
Everyone I would just like to inform you that the elders of the were council have arrived earlier than expected please do not worry if you see knew faces around.
After that short message I looked around the room and found a black and blue full length maxi dress I pulled my hair into a ponytail and put on a pair of black wedges. Frankly they are the only heels that I can walk in to Gesibelle's dismay.
The look on her face when I had told her I had never worn a pair of heels was astonishing it was as if I had thrown Bella out of a window.
Unfortunately she wanted to fix the situation so she bought me a cupboard full of shoes I can't walk in.
After I looked in the mirror to check how I looked I decided to check in with everyone through the pack link.
Drew have the elders arrived
Yes alpha they just arrived know
Okay I will be down in a minute I'm just going to check if everything is sorted.
Trevor how are the rooms looking?
Alpha the rooms are all done just last minute touches
Good. What about you Mick are the ladies okay.
Yeah they were a bit frazzled in the beginning but they say they will get the food done on time.
Okay as soon as you both are done I want you to meet me and drew in the front with the elders alright.
Yes alpha
I took a deep breath and walked down the stairs I knew they had to see me as a strong alpha otherwise they would never initiate us I had yet to reveal my young age to them.
I really don't know how they're going to react to a 16 year old girl being an alpha of a pack of 213 and growing.
I mean what if I can't do this don't these people deserve a better alpha than me I couldn't help the negative thoughts that ran through my head.
"Don't think like that you saved us if it hadn't been for you who knew what would have happened to us. You are more worthy of being an alpha than men twice your age are and the fact that you can't see that just adds to that."

Mick said from behind me I could see the confidence with which he spoke it shocked me to the core. That this man who had become like a father to me thought so much of me.
"It's not just the fact that you would willingly give us space in your home and your heart. It is also the fact that you so willingly accepted us all when many others turned away and watched us be treated in such a way." Trevor spoke as he walked towards me I knew he had gone through much and the fact was he never thought that he and his mate would ever be accepted.
Their words brought tears to my eyes for they didn't know how much their loyalty and love meant to me.
"The fact is you do not see yourself as much of an alpha but you are ten times better than others who claim that title. What you do not realise is that you have given us a chance at a life we thought was lost to us. For that we would give up our lives to protect you and this pack." Drew spoke through the mind link connected to the rest of the pack.
As I was going to reply I heard many voices echo through the mind link showing me their support and love. In that moment I knew I could do anything with my pack supporting me.
I walked out the doors towards Drew who was talking to the elders with a few of our pack warriors surrounding them.
Whilst the rest were either on patrol duty or on a break we had found it necessary to put up a good defence to those rouges who had completely lost their human to their wolf.
So in order to protect the pack I had Trevor and Daniel start training the members and tried to make the system as similar and simple to that of normal packs with border patrols and shifts between warriors.
Though I was not an alpha that locked themselves away and put themselves on a pedestal. I liked to play around with the younger kids, help cook with the adults and do border patrol. I wanted to be as involved with my pack my family as much as possible.
As I closed in on Drew and the elders I noticed that they had about fifty of their own personal warriors with them who wore a simple black uniform of long sleeved tops and trousers with weapons strapped all over them.
They were all quite bulky in size with the leader standing directly behind the elders while the others were scattered around the clearing that my mansion was situated in.
What annoyed me though was the fact that there were no woman warriors with them.
Putting my annoyance aside I turned to the elders and slightly bowed my head in recognition of their titles. As I brought my head back up I took the time to look them over.
All the elders looked to be of quite old age with four of them being men and two women with the traditional burgundy robes with black linings to show who they were.

They turned towards me looking me over as I spoke "I would like to say welcome to the Locus pack elders it is an honour to meet you I am Leila the alpha of this pack".
If they were shocked they did not show it on their faces there guards however were another story a look of shock passed over the captain of the guards face.
While the others were blatantly staring as if I was playing a trick on them. One of them that stood at the edge of the group and was the smallest started laughing his head off.
I simply raised an eyebrow in question not knowing what was so funny though I didn't have to wait long to find out.
"You an alpha you have got to be kidding me ...... ha-ha ..... funny joke kid, now why don't you be a good little girl and get the real alpha for us". He said straightening up after his fit of laughter with a condescending smile on my face.
I could feel my wolf's anger at his clear disrespect towards us and wanted to teach him a lesson.
How dare he say such a thing we could rip him in half that puny wolf is going to die.
I tried to calm my wolf as best as possible but I did not expect what happened next. There was growling throughout the clearing from within the pack house as well.
My pack had not taken his disrespect of me well and was showing it with their anger filled growls.
I saw my warriors moving towards the elder's warrior with Trevor leading them I could see he was close to shifting and knew I had to stop this.
We could not have a wolf killed the first time we met the elders especially one of their guards.
"Enough" I shouted you could hear the power behind my voice even I was surprised at how dominating it was.
"We do not need any blood to be shed so stand down" My pack members all whimpered but showed me their necks but what surprised me most was that the Elders warriors did also. From the looks on the faces of the elder it was a shock to them also.
Even though my command had stopped them I could still see Trevor shaking in anger and close to shifting I knew there was only one way to calm him down.
"Daniel go to your mate calm him down we do not need him shifting" I said in a calm voice. Daniel nodded and walked over to Trevor and wrapped his arms around him letting his scent wash over him.
Trevor seemed to calm down the second he felt Daniels touch. We all watched as Daniel whispered comforting words in Trevor's ear everyone felt touched by their love for one another that was clear to see.
"What you let gays in this pack as well that's just disgusting you should be ashamed of yourself for you must really want to kill yourself for having each other as mates. Though what do you expect from a pack made out of filthy rogues". The guard stated disgust clear in his voice.
Most were shocked by the guards clear disrespect but I felt my anger as well as my wolfs rise.
How dare he say such a thing about my pack members we took his nonsense before but know he had crossed the line talking about my pack in such a way.
Before anyone knew what was happening I was across the field with my hand closed around the guard's neck smashing his back to the closest tree available. I heard gasps behind me and a groan from the guard I was holding.
"How dare you!!! How dare you speak about my pack members in such a way they are worth twice what you're sorry ass is. Do you think you can just walk on to my land and disrespect me and my pack."
I smashed his head back against the tree and saw blood coming down his neck and increased the pressure on his neck.
"For your information this filthy pack of rogues is my family and if you dare disrespect them again I will rip out your tongue." I took a breath trying to control my wolfs thirst for bloodshed.
"Now I would really like to snap your neck for saying such awful things but that would be disrespectful to the elders who you work for. So instead I am going to let you go and you are going to apologise do you understand?
He nodded his head as much as he could I could clearly see the fear in his eyes I held on for a few more seconds then let go.
He fell on his knees gasping for breath then turned towards Trevor and Daniel.
"I am sorry for being disrespectful towards you and your pack alpha" I could tell my wolf was not happy she wanted to rip his guts out.
Puny wolf why did you not let me rip him to pieces he deserved such a thing for talking about our pack members like that we should rip his tongue out.
Ignoring my wolf I looked up towards my pack members and saw pride mixed with happiness shining in their eyes. They were proud that I was there alpha and would not tolerate any disrespect thrown towards them.
I looked towards the elders seeing the shock on their face I had completely forgot about them who knew what they were going to do know I had just attacked one of their guards.
Do not feel bad we had to do what had to be done we were protecting our pack and its members that is what alphas do. If they cannot understand than it is not our fault I have no regrets.
As I heard Lydia speak I knew I felt the same way we both would do anything to protect our pack our family. I started walking towards the elders.
I guess it's time to face the music I thought to myself as I drew nearer to the elders.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
