Emery exclaimed.
I glared at her.
We were in her living room-seeing as it was slowly becoming our hangout spot. Emery was lying on the couch skimming through random channels while I was sitting Indian style on the floor with my Calculus homework on my lap. She had been watching movies since I arrived while I had been tackling my Calculus equations.
Emery couldn't help me since we weren't in the same Calculus class, and even though I tried searching the internet for the particular question or anyone related to it, my wrong solutions were better than the results I received.
It was infuriating that I couldn't ask Caelum for help since I still had to seek my revenge on him for what he had done on Saturday. After executing my plan, I could then think about asking him to assist me in my homework.
I didn't have to submit the homework until Tuesday, and I had my test on Thursday. So if I could execute my plan, I'd have Monday and Tuesday to beg for his forgiveness.
I grinned at my perfect plan.
"Daesyn!"
"Uh, yeah?"
"I've been talking to you since forever." She sighed, turning to look at me. "You've been grinning creepily since yesterday, what's up?"
"Nothing, I was just thinking about something."
"Calculus?"
I nodded. It wasn't completely a lie since Caelum was my supposed tutor and my thoughts were focused on him.
"Maybe you should ask Caelum to assist you, he agreed to be your tutor."
I smiled at her. "I will, just not yet."
She stared at me for a moment before scratching her head. "You're doing it again!"
"Huh? What?"
"That creepy face Daesyn!"
"Oh sorry," I said, my grin widening. "I just can't help it."

She snorted, shaking her head.
"I'm tired of watching movies and I'm going to sleep." A small yawn made its way out of her mouth. "Make yourself comfortable."
It was past noon, and I was sick of solving the same question without improvement, so I dropped my books and made myself comfortable on the couch. Before I knew it, I was fast asleep.
It was past three when I woke up. Emery was still fast asleep and her long limbs were dangling from across the couch. I checked my phone for any new texts and scowled when I didn't see any.
I had just two contacts on my phone: Mum and Emery. And since Emery was fast asleep beside me, I think it was obvious whom I was expecting the text from.
I decided to check up on Caelum to see if I could execute my plan, so I packed my things and put them beside the living room door-I needed to be prepared for my escape.
Taking the materials I needed, I tottered up the stairs and towards Caelum's room. I knocked on his door twice and when I didn't hear a sound from inside, I quietly pushed it open and stepped in.
I took my hairband and attached it to the air horn I brought from my house. I never saw mum using the air horn, and I didn't use it either, so why not use it for something good? When I was done attaching it, I released it and threw it on his bed where he was sleeping, and slammed his door shut.
I didn't bother checking if whatever I did woke Emery up. I just picked my bag from the doorway and ran out of the house.
I could still hear the sound from the air horn as I flew into my car and turned on the ignition with shaky fingers. My heart was beating so fast I thought it was going to jump out of my chest and my adrenaline was full-on pumping.

I risked glancing back at the house just before I drove away, and I saw an angry-looking Caelum. He was heaving and glaring at me, I knew I'd be dead if looks could kill. I smiled mockingly-despite my fear of being punched to death and waved, mouthing 'toodles' as I drove away.
He deserved a lot more than this, and he wasn't going to get away with any of his plans. I smirked contentedly and sang along to Imagine dragon's 'believer' when I reached a red light.
Short, but oh, well. Quality is better than quantity :)

Requiem
What makes us human? Is it that we are concerned about the future? Is it that the past frequently haunts us? What drives us? What makes us do the things we do?What does it take to push us over the edge? What would we do after we have been broken and left for dead by the demons of the society? He changed the course of entire nations. His life was the tree that held up the skies. His life was like the trunk, birthing forth infinite branches, each of them a future, a possibility, as he guided the course of entire nations. Watch as he defies all odds and rises up to bathe in the blood of the world. This is a story about the human condition. There will be pain and intense suffering. This story about the tenacity of the human soul. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This will not contain any VR or Game elements. 8 68The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield
***The wrong girl is sometimes The Right One.*** Charlotte Samuels thought she'd be stuck waiting tables at Marlow's until all her debts are paid off-in about ten thousand years or so. She definitely didn't expect a marriage proposal from the arrogant Brandon Maxfield who was blackmailed by his father to make her his wife if he didn't want his least favorite cousin to run Maxfield Industries. Charlotte's instinct was to say HELL NO! but she's stumped by a few obstacles: 1.) His old man Martin Maxfield is dear to her heart and has been recently deteriorating in health. 2.) She gets a million dollars if she stays married to Brandon for a year. 3.) She would rather like the opportunity to teach the attractive but awfully rude man a few lessons he didn't think he needed from a 'teenage gold-digger' which was his term of endearment for her on their first date-er, business meeting. So what's a girl got to do, right? Sure, she's young and a little rough around the edges but there's something her would-be husband didn't know about her yet-she's nothing like he ever expected. Thrust into the glitzy world a standard-issue Mrs. Maxfield would fit perfectly and rule with impeccable social grace, Charlotte will either have to force herself into the mold or break free of it, risking what little she has left for everything that she can gain.*** Copyright © 2014 by Nina Tippett.
