Ryder has something she wants to say. Spencer has known all through dinner but he chose not to bring it up. He knows she'll tell him when she's ready. And after they clean the dishes, his thoughts are confirmed.

"Hey, Spence, I need to talk to you," She tells him, quick to continue when she hears her own words. "It's nothing bad. Just uh, come on." Grabbing his hand, Ryder reads him to the couch. "So, I was working the other day. Editing some pictures when I got an email from some people. They saw my photos and they really like them. They want me to come do some work for them. There are all these details I'll tell you later but, that's the gist."

"That's amazing, so why do you look like that's not amazing?"

"Well, no it is, it's just..." Ryder trails off and bites the inside of her cheek. "The jobs in California. For two weeks."

"Oh," Spencer mumbles and nods in understanding.

"Yeah, oh," Ryder nods and purses her lips. "This is a really good opportunity but, of course, this is something we have to talk about and agree on."

"You already have this planned out, don't you?" Spencer asks with a fond smile and Ryder nods.

"Yeah," She admits. "I've been to California before, I still have some friends down there that would let me stay with them. I don't have a doctor's appointment until after I get back. And not that I don't love you being home more, but you could focus on work because I'll be away." Ryder takes a deep breath before continuing. "I don't like being away from you for so long but we've done it before and it's only two weeks, you know, it's fine. It's fine, right?"

Spencer's smile doesn't falter when he places his hands on her shoulders. "When would you leave?" She has a point. Ryder doesn't like talking about it but Spencer still hasn't forgotten about Mark. Though the man hasn't made an appearance or anything similar, pictures with everyone's face but his fiancées' scratched out doesn't leave his mind so easily. Maybe it would be good for her to go away for a while. They'll have to find someone to watch Willow while he's away for work.

"Few days. Thursday," Maybe she should've brought it up sooner, but she hadn't found out that long ago and she wanted to get everything in order before talking to Spencer about it. She figured it would be easier that way. "I know this is short notice and horrible timing but...Spence, I really want to do this."

"I'm used to both of those things," Short notice and bad timing are in his job description. Well, not those words exactly, but close enough. Ryder's eyebrows raise thoughtfully and she nods in agreement. "You know, even if I wanted to, I can't say no to you."

"Does that mean you don't want to say no?" Ryder asks hopefully. She doesn't want Spencer to tell her to go when he doesn't want her to.

"Of course I don't want to say no," Spencer shakes his head, smile widening when Ryder's face lights up. He laughs when she makes her excited face, bouncing in her seat. He loves her excited face.

"Yes, yes! Okay, phew," Ryder takes a few deep breaths to calm herself down. "Thank you," Cupping her fiancé's cheeks, Ryder leans forward and places a kiss to his lips. "I love you."

"I love you, too," Spencer whispers, staring into her eyes. "How did I get so lucky?"

"No, I'm the lucky one," Ryder pulls back. They've had this conversation before and Ryder is sure they'll have it again. "And if anyone deserves to be happy, it's you."

"I'm about to say that you deserve it more and we'll agree to disagree." Laughing, Ryder nods and moves her hands to run through his curls.

"I think we can agree that this little guy or gal deserves it most," Ryder places one of her hands over her still mostly flat stomach. There's only a small bump. "I just wish I knew if it's a guy or a gal. I hate calling our unborn child 'it'."

"We'll find out before you know it," Spencer tells her. "You'll be in California, focused on work and relaxing," He points to her sternly and Ryder nods. "The time will pass and when you get back, we'll know."

"Yeah, you're right," Ryder nods once with another deep breath. "As always. You wanna help me pack?"

Minutes later, the couple is standing in the closet. Spencer is watching Ryder more than helping. That's what she meant by asking him to help anyway. She loves Spencer but these are her clothes, she can only bring a few to have for two weeks.

"I'll text you when I wake up every morning," There's a few hours difference between Virginia and California so her text will be waiting for him when he wakes. "You can call me whenever you get the chance, I'll try to answer."

Ryder folds a shirt to place into her suitcase that rests on the bench beside Spencer, stopping when she sees the far off look in his eyes. "What's going on in that head of yours?"

"It's odd," He says, immediately wrapping his arms around her when she sits on his lap. "I just got this image of us watching our child packing for college."

"Wow," Ryder looks up, her eyebrows raising as she imagines the image herself. "I will cry."

Spencer smiles and rests his forehead onto her shoulder before reluctantly admitting. "Yeah, me too."

"Okay, enough, or I'll start now," Ryder runs a hand through his hair and looks down at him. "Team dinner before I go?" By 'team' Ryder means everyone in the BAU, Steve, Nat, and Tommy. They're all a team.

"Yeah," Spencer nods and kisses her. "You finish and I'll see what night everyone can make it."

"I can't believe you're going to California and you're not taking me." Huffing, Ryder leans her hand onto the back of the couch before looking to Steve.

"Last time I was in California with you, I almost got a tattoo." She tells him, her lips twitching up into a smile.

"I don't see how that's a bad thing." He mumbles into his drink, earning chuckles from some of the others in the room.

"Yeah, nothing wrong with a little tattoo," Morgan shrugs, his lips pulling back into a larger smile. "Right, Prentiss?"

"Oh, don't even start," The dark-haired woman waves the man off, rolling her eyes when he laughs. "Take me with you." She deadpans to Ryder and she chuckles.

The entire team is spread through Rossi's house. The man had generously offered to host tonight's dinner. Ryder is grateful, no way everyone could fit into her and Spencer's apartment and the house won't be ready for a while.

"I'll miss you guys," Ryder announces to them, shaking her head fondly. She's not even gone and she's ready to be back despite her excitement for the trip.

"Not sure if you'll manage to get away," Derek starts, raising his glass towards her. "Pretty boy there doesn't look like he's letting go anytime soon." It's Spencer's turn to roll his eyes, pulling away from his fiancée just enough to lean back against the couch. His arm stays wrapped around her waist.

"I think I'm okay with that," Ryder whispers, turning her head towards Spencer to place a quick kiss to his lips. She then proceeds to rest her head on his chest. Conversation resumes after that. The group talking about this and that until dinner is ready.

"I'll bring back souvenirs, any requests?"

"The beach," JJ immediately answers Ryder's question. "Just, the entire beach."

"Oh, just the entire beach," Ryder repeats with a laugh. "I'll see what I can do."

On the morning of her flight, Spencer wakes before Ryder. He passes by her packed bags on his way out of their bedroom and walks into the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

The smell of blueberry pancakes wafts down the hall, waking Ryder. A smile pulls her lips up before her eyes even open. It takes her a moment to completely come to and when she does, she pulls herself from under the covers.

"I'd have nothing without you," Ryder sighs and wraps her arms around Spencer's waist, her head resting on his chest. She's always loved their height difference.

"Funny, I could say the same." He responds with a kiss to the top of her head.

"Separated, we are only pieces, together we are whole," Ryder whispers, pulling back to smile up at him. "That was cheesy, but it's true."

"I like it when you're cheesy," Spencer tells her, grabbing her left hand in his right, lifting it closer to him.

"There's a pizza joke there." Snorting, Spencer pulls away to finish the food before it can burn. Grabbing plates and cups, Ryder sets the table and grabs the juice. The couple then sit down to eat, talking quietly amongst themselves until it's time for Ryder to leave.

Spencer agreed to this, he knows he did. But standing here now, at the airport, about to leave his other half for two weeks. He's not sure how he ever told her to go. He's been away for her before, but it doesn't make it any easier.

"We'll call, text, face time." Ryder names off the options on her fingers, looking ready to abandon her flight and just go back home. "It's only two weeks."

"Only two weeks," Spencer repeats. As much as he doesn't want to be separated from her, he's not going to stop her from taking this opportunity. "It'll be over before you know it."

"I'm going to hold you to that," Ryder taps his chest, his arms around her keep her close to his chest. "I love you."

"I love you," Bending down, Spencer connects his lips with hers. He's never been one for PDA, but screw that. He's not going to see his fiancée for two weeks. He's going to kiss her goodbye.

Just then, a loud voice rings out through the building, announcing Ryder's flight. The young woman groans and reluctantly pulls away. "I'll let you know when I land."

"Okay," Nodding, Spencer bends down and picks up her duffle bag, handing it to her. "I'll see you soon, love."

Looks like Ryder is going on a little trip. That's nice.

There wasn't much there with the team, I just kept drawing blanks man, I don't know. If there's more character interaction you want to see, just let me know with who and I'll try to put that in. Your opinion matters greatly to me. Everyone one of you. (Also, reviews make me want to up date faster) *Cough*, but you know, whatever you want to do.

Please pretend like I didn't just fake cough inside words. I'd appreciate that.

I'm super excited for the next few chapters! I hope you guys are too. Though there will be a cliff hanger soon. That's all I can say, do with it what you will.

Bye, guys! I'll see you in the comment section! - You know, if you choose to do so.
