"With you went so much of me."

Namjoon just stared at Lisa. "It's not Jimin," he said after a moment.
All of the kids had stopped coloring and were looking at her.
The weight of their steady gazes forced her to look away. "I can't know until I go down there and check, Namjoon. And before we go searching a woman's house for a boy she may not have taken, we have to confirm that the body belongs to someone else."
Namjoon shook his head. "I'm not going down there with you. I won't."
Lisa nodded delicately, understanding Namjoon's reluctance as his fear of finding his boy's bones in the snow. "All right. You should all stay here," Lisa said, already grabbing her coat and keys. "I have to drive down there. Jaebum's there, but since I'm point on this case, I need to be there too. Wait here and I'll be back as soon as I can." She paused, tilting her head. "An hour at most. I'm sorry, Namjoon. But we need to be sure."
Namjoon nodded but remained silent as Lisa rushed out of the building. He waited fifteen minutes to be sure that she had left, and then he stood up.
"Daddy? Where are you going?" Jin asked, tracing Namjoon with his eyes.
"We. We're going to find Jimin."

Namjoon parked the car in front of the address that he had found on Lisa's computer.
He stared at the house.
Wondered if Jimin had stared at the house if - when - he had first seen it.
Wondered if Jimin was staring at him right now from a window, hiding behind the curtain, his tiny hand pressed against the glass.
He cut the engine.
"Daddy?" Jin asked softly as Namjoon opened his door.

Namjoon turned to look at Jin. "I need all of you to stay in the car, okay? No matter what. I need to know that you're all safe."
Jin nodded.
"Make sure you lock the doors after me, all right?"
Jin nodded again, and Namjoon hesitated before leaning forward and giving Jin a kiss on the forehead.
"Me too, Daddy, me too!" Hobi said from the back seat, and Namjoon gave each of them a kiss on the head, Yoongi then Jungkook and finally Tae.
"Go find Jimin," Tae whispered, and Namjoon swallowed, clenching his jaw, and nodded tersely before getting out of the car.
Jin waited a second before hitting the lock button.
They all watched Namjoon as he walked up to the door and knocked.
A few seconds later, the door opened, and Namjoon went in.

Lisa sighed in relief. She shouldn't have been happy to find a skeleton in general, but she was glad that the bones indicated at least fifteen years of age and not nine. Even though she'd been preparing herself for the morbid eventuality of finding Jimin's body, it wasn't an eventuality that she'd ever wanted to face, nor that she'd ever want Namjoon to have to face.
"Thanks for letting me know, Jaebum," Lisa said, nodding apologetically because she felt bad that Jaebum had been on search duty for corpses. Nobody in the station had told her directly, but she felt like they were still punishing her and Jaebum for their mistake 5 years ago. Her mistake, really. One that she'd dragged Jaebum into.
She stamped her feet against the snow, trying to kick some warmth back into her legs as she pulled out her cell phone and dialed Namjoon. "Namjoon?"
"Yes?"
"The body. It's not Jimin's," she said breathlessly.

"That's good."
"Yeah. I'll be back at the station in twenty so just hang on."
"All right, thank you."
The phone call ended and Lisa stared at her phone a moment.
Namjoon sounded weird.
Is he just nervous?
I guess I would be too.
Lisa smiled slightly and jogged to her car.
No reason to keep him waiting.
We could be picking up his boy tonight.

"All right, thank you," Namjoon said before ending the call and putting his cell phone in his pocket.
"Who was that?" Song Eungi asked amiably, smiling as she passed a cup of tea to Namjoon.
He hated tea but smiled and took a sip anyway. "Just a friend calling to warn me that the roads are icy," he said.
"What a nice person," Eungi said, smiling and setting her tea cup down. "So, what brings you here tonight?" she asked. "What was it that you said? A candle-lighting event for Jimin's memorial? I'd love to be there, if I could. What day is it?" she asked, rummaging through a tidy stack of magazines for any that had spare space to write.
"Actually, I came here to get my son back. I believe you have him?"
