Stress POV
I woke up to someone shifting next to me. I tried to roll over to see what was wrong someone was holding me in a tight hug, preventing me from getting up.
"Iskall, something wrong?" I asked him.
"No," Iskall mumbled. He didn't seem fully awake at the moment.
"Can I move?"
"Doooooon't," he whined.
"Fine, I won't. But just for a few minutes," I sighed, but was really happy to spend some time with him.
I rolled over and hugged him back. It took me a moment to realize he was really warm. I put my hand up to his forehead and his temperature was abnormally hot.
"How are you feeling love," I asked.
"Cold," he said as he involuntarily shivered. "And my head hurts..."
"I'm going to go get you some things, kay?"
"Okay," he mumbled as he let me stand up.
I walked to the kitchen to go make some soup. Once I arrived in the kitchen, I put a pot on the stove and turned it on. I poured the tomato soup from the can into the pot and set a 15 minute timer.
While that was heating up, I grabbed some blankets from the couch and walked back upstairs.
Iskall POV
My head really really hurt. It was all I could think about, except for the cold.
I was so focused on that I didn't hear someone enter the bedroom.
"Hi 'skall how are you," Stress said as she walked over.
"I-it hurts, a l-lot," I admitted. There wasn't really anything else I could of said.
She looked at me with a look of sympathy and draped the blanket on top of me.
"Th-thank you," I whispered as the blanket brought more warmth.

"No problem love," she said as she kissed my cheek.
I was going to say something but there was a beeping sound coming from downstairs.
"Be right back love," she said as she walked out.
Stress POV
I walked back down towards the kitchen. It hurt me to see Iskall in so much pain. I poured the soup into a bowl and filled a glass with some water.
I let the soup cool a bit as they went to the bathroom and looked for some medication. Once I found what I was looking for, I took all of the stuff up to Iskall.
He was still lying in the exact spot I had left him.
Iskall was sweating but still was under all of the blankets.
"Iskall can you sit up?" I asked. He gave a small nod sat up quietly but I could tell his head still really hurt.
I set the stuff down on the nightstand and gave him a pill with some water. Once he swallowed it, I handed him the bowl of soup. He ate it, clearly grateful for the warmth of the bowl.
Iskall ate two thirds of the bowl and said he couldn't finish it, clearly feeling bad about it.
"It's fine love you did a great job," I praised as he laid back down. He was shivering and in pain but all I could do was talk to him and hug him.
I changed into a t-shirt and shorts and laid down next to Iskall. Even while wearing that, it was really hot under all the blankets.
"You feeling better love," I asked quietly.
"I-I guess. Thanks f-for being h-here," he mumbled as he hugged me.
"Always love," I said. Soon after, he fell asleep still clinging onto me. I assumed he didn't sleep much before so it was probably for the best.

Iskall POV
I woke up to light shining through the window. I looked down and saw my girlfriend fast asleep next to me.
"Rise and shine Stress," I whispered to her.
"It's too earlyyyyy," she whined. I realized she was probably up late taking care of me last night.
"Then sleep," I said, running my hand through her hair. She seemed to like the gesture and cuddled next to me.
I was unbelievably lucky to have her as my girlfriend. She's funny and cute. She's also really sweet and takes care of me when I'm hurt or sick.
I really love this girl.
She giggled. "I love you too," she whispered. I had said that out loud but I didn't really care.
I heard little snores next to me. She had fallen asleep so quickly, she was probably exhausted. I closed my eyes and slowly drifted off.

Entangled Fates Book 1 - Quantum Beginnings

The book is now availble on Amazon (includes extra chapters): https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07W1534R8 Artificial intelligence was nearly mankind’s last invention. AI took off like a rocket, then when it racked up an impressive death toll, it crashed before it could blossom and took most high-tech industries with it. Resistance and fears became deep-set. Still grappling with the repercussions of his injuries, and threats from a dangerous anti-augmentation political movement, there are no easy answers and threats loom around every corner. Alex must use whatever resources he can to escape from under the thumb of a ruthless corporation, while keeping those he comes to love safe. Chapters will stay up on RRL until Aug 10. It'll go up on Kindle Unlimited after that. How do you get those extra chapters I didn't have planned for RR? If you want them, they'll be in the published book. Book 2 will still make sense without them - I made sure of that. But... isn't $3 a lot for extra chapters? Think of it as tipping me for a good job and you'd also be getting my eternal thanks. If you enjoyed it so much that the idea of missing out a few chapters haunts you, I did my job as an author and made an engaging story. What's in those extra chapters? Resolving a few issues, set up for the cybernetic revolution, a rather intense sex scene with a new partner, revelations of who's really pulling strings, and a bit of set up for book 2. Complaints that people missed out on it when it was published here won't help (sorry!). I posted this for the folks who helped me shape the book, which is you all! (Again, yay!) But... Why! Why not keep it all on RR forever? My editor likes being paid for one. For two, I'd like the ability to get broader readership. If I break even on editor costs, I'll be incredibly happy. What about book 2? Drafts for Book 2 will go up around Sept 10. My draft of Book 2 is done, and it will be handed to the editor once Book 1 is published. Feedback has been even more positive. Beta readers devoured it and wanted more. I'll add a link to Book 2 once it's up on RR. I'm more or less, using you all for Beta Readers, so you get it before it's "canon" and edited. I invite active and meaningful feedback during this process. In return, you get early access to chapters. That does mean that the book content or plot might be adjusted before it gets published as I refine it. Sex Y/N? Yes. I heard the feedback, 90% wanted it explicit. You all will get the "full" experience. Will I dump all of book 2 here? Honestly, I'm not sure yet. At a minimum, it'll be up to the 75% mark as we collect feedback, much like what I did with book 1. It really depends on how good the feedback is and how nice people are. Lots of support + meaningful feedback to make it better = higher likelihood you get all the book. Will be it up here indefinitely? No, it'll probably go up on KU at some point, but I'll make sure there's enough time for a large readership to grab it here. Then we move to book 3 which already is around 60K words already. What about other adventures in the same universe/characters? Yep. Absolutely. Nothing ready to share yet though. I plan to keep those side chapters and more slice of life stories as RR exclusive. Since I'm carving this off in book-sized segments, I'll have to figure out where those disconnected story arcs belong. I'm open to suggestions.

Musings of a Hypocrite
Mortals are weird. They insisted in unity, as well as individualism. More often than not, they're shocked at truth and honesty, but not at falsehood and deceit. They asked questions with multiple answers, and provided answers that begged other questions. They made things to break, they destroyed things to study, they researched things to recreate. Humans, Elves, Beastmen. All of them. Within these contradictions, a miracle might manifest. But this tended to work with a trial and error methodology. Most mortals never got the happy ending. This diary is my journey alongside a few students of mine. In simple terms - they learn, they grow, they fight. They'll journey through centuries of conflict, from the physical to the educational. They'll experience the cruelty and benelovence of all living-kind. They'll experience the consequences of their choices and the blessings of their rewards. They will grow to become useful to me, or die trying like all the others. As for you? The god reading our lives like a book, sitting in your chair without a care in the world? I will show you, the farce that is known as 'God'.
