《The Flash GIF Imagines》Power Outage-Joe West

You and Joe walked hand in hand into the pizza parlor, the amazing smell of freshly made pizza beating through your nostrils. The two of you walked up to the counter and were greeted with a smile from the young employee.
"How are you guys doing today?" She asked. You smiled back at her.
"Good, how about you?" You asked in return.
"Wonderful, thanks for asking. What can I get started for you?" She asked. You turned towards Joe who shrugged.
"We could just get a large cheese pizza and two drinks." He said. You nodded and turned back to the cashier to order. After ordering, the two of you filled up your cups and sat down to wait for your food.
"So what are we watching tonight?" Joe asked, folding the receipt in half and then again.
"We can watch the original Star Wars series again, that's pretty fun to watch." You said. Joe chuckled.
"Again?! Didn't you just watch that last week?" He asked. You smiled and nodded.
"Come on, it would allow for several hours of cuddling." You said. Joe looked at you and smiled.
"Alright." He finally said. "But on one condition."
"And what is that?" You asked, raising your right eyebrow.
"You have to help me write my stack of police reports." He said. You nodded.
"Alright, that seems fair." You said. Soon your pizza came out and you grabbed it before leaving the place with your food, drinks, and your husband.
----Time Skip----
Joe stood in the living room, fixing up the coffee table and setting down the drinks and food. You walked into the bedroom and grabbed the stack of Star Wars movies off the shelf and then moved to the laundry room where you pulled the comforter out of the dryer. Arms full, you walked back into the living room where Joe was turning on the TV. You looked at the coffee table which was neatly set. The napkins sat on the left next to the plates and drinks. In the center sat the pizza and directly next to that sat the bowl of candy you had left from Halloween.

Joe sat on the couch, resting the remote on its arm. You moved over to the DVD player and stuck the movie in before sitting down on the couch and snuggling up against your husband.
"Ready?" He asked. You nodded. Joe hit "play" on the remote and the movie started up. You leaned over and grabbed a slice of pizza for the both of you. You handed Joe his piece and then bit into the pizza, your mouth watering at how good it tasted and just when you were about to take another, all the lights in the house shut off along with the TV.
You set your pizza and plate down on the table. "Great..." You mumbled and sat up along with Joe. "Should I call Iris and ask if hers is out too?" You asked Joe.
"Uh yeah, I'll go break into the flashlight supply" He said and the both of you stood up.
You dialed Iris's number, getting impatient when she didn't answer right away.
"Hey Iris, is your power out?" You asked her. Iris sighed.
"Yes...It's so dark, luckily we have candles and flashlights." She said.
"Okay, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just something with the house." You replied.
"Yeah, that house is pretty old, so you never know." She said laughing. You laughed too.
"Alright well I should go help Joe find the flashlights, I'll talk to you later." You said and hung up after Iris said her goodbyes.
You walked up the stairs, using your phone light as your guide. You walked into the bedroom and saw Joe holding and armful of flashlights on the bed. He looked up when he saw you enter.
"Hey hon, we have a problem." He said.
"Hm?" You asked, sitting on the bed next to him.
"We only have enough batteries for one flashlight." He replied. You let out a sigh full of disbelief.
"Okay, well let's at least have one flashlight. My phone is at 39% so I can use my light." You said. "The only problem right now really is what we're going to do while the powers out." You said. Joe looked at you and smiled.

"We can play hide and seek." He said.
"In the dark?" You asked.
"Yes Y/N, just think about it, it'll be so much easier to hide in the dark. The person who is hiding will use the phone light, the hunter will use the flashlight." He said excitedly. You laughed.
"This sounds fun, but where did you come up with it at?" You asked him smiling. Joe shrugged.
"Barry and Iris were talking about old memories of them playing hide and seek and so tonight I kind of just felt the urge to play the game." He said. You smiled and nodded.
"Let's do it then." You said. You grabbed the flashlight from your husband and walked out of the room with him.
----Time Skip----
"Joeeeee....Where are you?" You whispered through the dark. You were returned with silence as you creeped farther and farther into the kitchen. You stopped abruptly when you heard a small cough. You smirked and walked slowly to where you heard the cough, but when you got there, no one was there.
"Come on babe, I know you're somewhere in here." You called. You stopped short and turned around, seeing Joe try to creep around you to the table.
"Found you!" You shouted, pointing at your husband.
"Dammit..." Joe mumbled, standing up. You stalked over to him and handed him the flashlight, taking back your phone. Joe leaned over and gave you a peck on the lips.
"Good luck honey." He said. You smirked.
"Come on Joe, you and I both know I'm good at blending in, after all I wouldn't be a detective if I couldn't." You said. Joe laughed.
"Yes Y/N, but I know how to hunt people down." He said. You smirked.
"Then may the best one of us win." You said. "Our fifteen minutes starts now." You said and bolted upstairs.
You creeped into your bedroom and opened the door to the closet, sliding in. You moved over to the far right corner, trying to make yourself as comfortable as you could in such a cramped space. You adjusted your breathing so that you were quieter and made sure you were in a position that would allow for maneuverability. You waited for Joe, watching intently through the crack in the closet, the light on your phone turned off.
----Time Skip----
You checked your timer one more time, five minutes remaining, Joe having already passed by the closest multiple times, this time he stopped in front of it. You stared at him through the crack, sure he saw you at one point, but he looked away. You calmed your heavy breathing and glanced down at your phone again, only three minutes left. Joe then began to slide open the door.
As quietly as you could, you sunk farther into the closet, behind Joe's shirts, your torso now barely visible. Joe peeked his head in the closet and glanced around, his head moving back to where you were standing. He stared at that spot for a couple of minutes and was just about to leave when your phone went off.
"Found you!" He shouted, laughing. You stepped out of the closet, shining the light on your face, which was now plastered with a smirk.
"Actually babe, you didn't. You found me after the fifteen minutes was up." You said. Joe shook his head and laughed.
"Alright, you win. What do I owe you?" He asked. You leaned over, closer to Joe.
"I think a kiss from my husband will be enough." You said. Joe smiled and pulled you in for a kiss, which lasted more than a minute. When the two of you pulled apart, you stared into each other's eyes, the power suddenly coming back on, interrupting this interaction.
"Yay!!!" You shouted, pulling Joe with you out of the room and downstairs to where the TV was playing the movie. You turned towards Joe.
"Shall we finish the movie?" You asked. Joe nodded.
"I'm starving and after all that running around, I need to sit down." He said. You smiled, pulling Joe to the couch where the two of you sat next to each other, a slice of pizza in each of your hands.
"To power outages." You said, lifting your pizza to Joe.
"To power outages." He laughed, raising his pizza to yours.

The Dreamside Road
Five years after the world fell into chaos, a treasure of artifacts is up for grabs. The relics of the Dreamside Road offer a power that could help rebuild or annihilate what remains. Orson Gregory is an adventurer for hire, but hunts this treasure for answers, not glory. Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.
