《Rejection - Pernico》Chapter 26

A/N: Kay hey guys this chapter and then next are gonna be weird because I'm really pressed for time, I'm in the midst of my exams and I need to introduce these lil shits so bear with me. Also it's really short I'm sorry guys but again EXAMS.
.
Canada. England. Sweden. Las Vegas. We were doing an insane hop-on hop-off tour around the world, rescuing demigods and adding to our motley crew.
Sweden.
A platinum blond, icy-grey eyed 18-year-old, claimed in the same restaurant bar we were having dinner in. Ironic, but convenient. What wasn't so convenient was the eight angry bartenders, which all turned out to be one furious hydra, swarming us right after Idris' claiming, that unfortunately left him unconscious. We'd had to do a fancy trick with the alcohol behind the bar and a lit match before we managed to defeat it. Still, pretty epic.
Las Vegas.
A teenage con man, with very cool playing cards and almost perfect sleight-of-hand. Simply referring to himself as Jack, the dark-haired guy had been performing a few days earlier in one of the busiest casinos in the place. A couple of nights later, we found him slowly bleeding to death after having been mauled by Vrykolakas, vampiric werewolves. Fortunately, we didn't run into them again, and after a few days and some nectar, Jack was up and about again.
"Percy." I glanced up at Jack, who tapped my sword meaningfully. I winced and pulled it from his throat, sheathing it. "Sorry about that. Anyways, yeah, you did great. You did great with the staff." He grinned, thumping his wood staff on the deck of the ship. It was able to be fitted with both Celestial bronze and Imperial gold spearheads and he'd been using it for years. "Thanks, Cap." He'd taken to calling me that after he had seen the ship. It was getting to be as bad as Blackjack, honestly. With a twirl of his staff, he walked past me. "I'm gonna see if I can... convince Idris to have a go." He winked, and I raised an eyebrow. "I thought you were just "convincing" Alexa this morning? Isn't that why you got slapped by Amy?Didn't think you swung both ways." He shrugged, flashing a quick grin. "I swing every way, Cap. I could even swing your way." I rolled my eyes and waved a hand at him, before turning back to the prow of the boat, where Nico was sparring with Amy, sauntering over to where Alexa was leaning against the mast. "Practice, young grasshopper. Let's go." She groaned and I smirked, offering her sword hilt first to her, before drawing Riptide and lunging.
An hour or two later, general consensus agreed it was time to take a break, and I watched as they slumped to the deck, exhausted. Although, come to think of it, I hadn't seen- "Hey." Speak of the devil. Idris' Swedish drawl came from behind me, and I turned to see him coming from the stairs, running a hand through his hair. "Uh, sorry for missing training just now. I did spar with Jack belowdecks though." I looked at him wryly. "Is that all you did?" A faint red coloured his fair skin and I smirked, shaking my head. "I won't ask anymore. Spare me the details."
A cool hand laced through mine as the Swede walked away, and I looked down to see Nico, whose black hair was messily pushed to the side of his forehead. I grinned and dropped a quick kiss to his lips, eliciting groans from the rest; "Get a room", "Stop with the PDA", you get the idea. Nico glared at the exhausted demigods sprawled across the deck, opening his mouth to protest. Taking advantage of it, I quickly tilted his chin up and kissed him as thoroughly as I could, grinning at the dazed look in his eyes as I pulled away, ignoring the disgusted moans of the crew, barring Jack, who winked and gave me a thumbs-up. I smirked back, pulling Nico to the stairs down belowdecks to finish what we'd started.

"Alright. Everyone off." I hopped off the ship, waiting as they followed before heading up the shore. Drawing Riptide, I advanced slowly up the sloping ground. They needed some practice, and I had been here before, the monsters were mostly idiots with sharp teeth, resembling giant wild boar. Fairly easy to kill, and good training. Well, it'd started off that way, at least. The first few we'd come across we took by surprise, and they managed to kill one or two each.
Then things started going downhill.
I glanced back at Nico, who smiled briefly at me, before prowling on, footsteps making no sound as he looked past me. I watched as his face drained of what little colour it had, and he looked at me. I spun, holding Riptide at the ready, staring at the row of angry, black-furred hog-monsters charging our way. I could see their glowing red eyes, and the way their fur was branded with an 'E'. As if the shadows weren't enough. Eris wanted to make sure we knew she was trying to kill us, like we didn't know already. I yelled a warning, and they were on us. I swung Riptide, dissolving three at once. There was no time to think, and my reflexes took over, my body reacting automatically. I could hear faint snorting and shouts, but all I knew was the monsters dying as I laid about me with Riptide. They died quickly, but even more took their place. I grimaced, swiping the dust from my eyes. One took the opportunity to gore me with its tusks, but I heard Jack yell, and time itself literally slowed down as he sidestepped me and stabbed the hog with a dagger he'd acquired. Then time returned to normal, and I blinked. Wh- Had I imagined it? He merely flashed me a grin, and he was back into the fray, slashing and clubbing, and I followed suite.
About five minutes later, I decided there were too many of them. Already I was tiring, I couldn't keep this up, let alone the others. Quickly, I got rid of the remaining wave, and in the precious seconds before the next wave came, I surveyed my team. Alexa was limping, but her eyes blazed with fury, and she seemed to be protecting Amy, whose right arm was hanging limply, blood staining the sand below. Idris looked wary, in combat mode, sword dusty and dripping with dark blood. He was sheltering Levi, who was probably the most unaffected. I didn't know why. And Jack just grinned at me, spinning his staff. Nico's hand slipped into mine and squeezed gently before he stood back.
"Guys, we have to get away. Eris has done something to these monsters, I'm worried." Nico nodded. "Percy, you get them to the boat, I'll hold them off." I glared at him. "There's no way I'm doing that. You'll die!" He shrugged. "You too, if you stay." I scowled, unwilling to stand down. I had to save them, there was no way I could run away with my tail between my legs. "Nico. I'm staying. I'll be able to hold them off the longest." He blinked, face unreadable, and nodded jerkily, turning to the rest. "Let's go."
They were halfway down the beach, before I realised Jack was still standing beside me. The monsters were almost on us, and I hissed at him in a panic. "Jack, go now!" He smirked. "Not a chance in hell, Cap. The way I see it, you're gonna need all the help you can get, and I ain't gonna miss out on the fun." I glared, but the monsters had reached us, and there was no more time to talk. I kept an eye out for Jack, amazed at the way he seemed kill monsters at twice the speed he should've been able to. Who the hell was his godly parent!?

We finished off the wave of monsters, and I glanced back to the boat. "Jack, they're on the boat, let's go." There was no reply, and I looked over to see him kneeling on the sand. "Shit, Jack, why didn't you say anything?" Crimson blood dripped onto the sand, through his fingers, but he shook his head. "I'm- I'm fine. L-let's go." We made it halfway down the beach before he collapsed. Scooping him up, I ran the rest of the way, passing him to Nico as I called to the boat, turning it away from shore and towards the deeps. As I looked back, the first monster sliced into me with his tusks, and I yelped. No time to get on. I let the soothing seawater pull me out, following the boat. It washed over me, healing my wounds, and I watched as the monsters drowned themselves trying to get to me. The moment we got ten feet from the shore, they seemed to go back to normal, fur turning light brown and tusks shrinking. Some looked around, confused, and others ambled peacefully back up the shore.
After a while, I hauled myself back onto the boat, to see everyone gathered around Jack. He still lay prone and motionless, and I winced at the sight of his wound, which was as long as my forearm and looked extremely nasty. It was bandaged, not that it would do much good, judging by the large red stain, but it could buy him time. His icy blue eyes blinked open slowly, and I knelt beside him. "Hey. How're you doing? Nice trick with the speed back there." He grinned weakly. "Trade secret." He propped himself up, and looked down at the bandage, before unwinding and peeling it off. I tried to protest, but he splayed a hand over his wound, and a golden light seemed to glow around the wound. When he took his hand away, the wound was nothing more than a patch of new skin. Idris whistled. "Neat trick." Jack winked. "I can show you a few more." I stifled a laugh and looked down at him, "Jack. We need to know who your godly parent is, before time runs out and we have to-"
"An appropriate phrase. Although, I never run out of time. It's all I have, actually." I stared at Jack, who was glowing faintly gold now. "Uh, Jack? What-" He opened his eyes and they were pure silver. I stepped back, gesturing for the others to do the same. I'd seen a few claimings over the the years, and they could be explosive bastards.
"Jack, do you know who your godly parent is? Jack?" A silence filled the air, and I looked around. Something was different now, something... everything was silent. Not just quiet, but still. The waves weren't lapping at he boat anymore, and I couldn't hear the hum of the thoughts of fish below. No birds shrieked in the sky, and looking up, I saw one stopped mid-flight. Levi started to sniffle softly, and I shared his sentiment. The unnatural silence made me want to cry, somehow. The others looked around warily, murmuring, and Jack just remained frozen on the ground.
I claim this child as mine. I shivered and wanted to scream. The voice was deep and magnificent and furious and gentle and everything all at once. I could hear it speak in every single language at once, and I could see Jack, glowing like the sun. His eyes were flickering, and I could see the great infinity in them, like I could fall into them and drift forever and a day.
Nico whimpered a bit, slipping his hand into mine. I screwed up my courage, "W-who are you?"
I am the Timekeeper. The Romans called me Æon. I am time.
I stared at Jack. It was like looking into the heart of the sun. "Doesn't that make you Kronos!?"
Kronos is a pathetic excuse for a Titan. He sees time as a strict progression to cause and effect. I see it the way it is, from a non-subjective, non-linear viewpoint. It is everything and everywhere, and the change of time is the only true constant. And I have seen everything that has ever happened and is happening and will happen, and I have seen that you have need of my son. Jack.
Idris snickered despite himself. "So Time had a baby with a human? Really?"
The voice was amused now, but slightly warning. No. No human could take it. I have my ways, though. It softened. Care for my son, demigods. You will have need of him. He has need of you.
Jack collapsed to the deck, and I hurried over to him, when a golden mist seemed to rise out his mouth, and he sat up. "Oh. That was fun. How'd you guys like my dad?" I stared. "You knew who he was?" He cocked his head. "More or less. It's like after that had happened, something was removed and I can remember stuff. About him." Idris offered a hand to him, and he stood, coughing a bit. "So your dad can make people?" Jack shrugged. "More or less. Time does make and break everything eventually. Sometimes at the same time. Did you know, he once made an entire race? They could time travel and change history and stuff. It was really cool, like they were lords of time. But I think they're all dead." Idris stared at him. "All of them? The whole race?" Jack shrugged. "I think so. Maybe there's one or two left."
He stood, albeit shakily, and staggered towards the stairs. "I'm gonna lie down. That was exhausting." I nodded at him, before turning back to Nico. The others drifted off, and I looked over the prow of the boat, the son of Hades standing next to me. He grinned, slipping a hand into mine. "That was cool. My claiming was nowhere near as cool." I stared. "There were skeletons. And shadows. How much more do you want?" He shrugged, a small smile on his face. I watched it slip off, "The deadline's in two days." His face paled, and he nodded curtly as we turned the ship together towards Long Island.
Fun was over. It was time to face Eris.

The Helena Chronicles
Espers are really no different than humans; they look like any normal human and in general behave like any normal human. However, there are a few key differences. The max life expectancy of espers ranges from forty-five to fifty. They naturally have a knack for mathematics and are extremely intelligent in general, this is because their abilities rely on the subconscious and conscious calculations. They also have a mysterious energy source they call Focus that is generated naturally by all espers. The continent of Elestveeve is populated by three major factions, each a governing force. On the west of the continent, there is the Noble Houses that subscribe to the Deity Faith. The Houses ruling with the Deity Faith as council since the religion's founding four-hundred years previous. Controlling most of the northeast is WITCH, an organization ruled by powerful espers; claiming the mysterious Genesis as their capital, they are a whispered myth among much of the continent's less technically advanced residents. In the southeast you have Tech City, a towering monolith of a capital with four sky layers and metropolis' leveled deep underground; it is a city brimming with technical advancement and cyber integration. Each faction contends with one another for their evolutionary ideology, by devout religious worship to receive miraculous gifts, unique genetic lineage to obtain ESP, and technological integration to become something more than human. Helena, a young genius and esper, awakes in a dark room with only fuzzy memories and the company of seven other children. She must determine how she got there and how to get back to where she came from. Warning: Due to time constraints, I don't have the time to keep up on my three stories; therefore, Helena will need to go in a stasis chamber until I can find more time to write between work and life. I love my first girl so much! however, it seems she is the least popular among the fans (the poor girl T_T). This world is much bigger than my other two novels and I'm not giving up on it, but simply having to put her on ice.
