"Welcome back everyone," Janet smiled as Sam and Bucky sat down at the semi-circle couch. The Dream Team had gathered again in the Classified Missions Department only three days since they were last together. "Each of you will be given a file with the details of the mission plan. They are all the same so take one and pass it." She instructed, handing the stack of manila folders to Sam.
After all of the files had been passed out Janet drew the groups attention to the big screen up front, "Everything I will show you here will be in your folders for you to reference later on. Please be asking questions now so we can sort out any kinks in the plan." She glanced at Bucky before speaking again, "Recently, we received new information about the girl, Marie, so I will be going over that as well."
"Firstly, I will be joining you at the airfield on Monday morning and will be ready to communicate at any time during the mission should anything go wrong." She paced as she talked, fiddling with the small remote in her hand. She clicked to the first slide, "This is the schedule, memorize it. You all will leave the airfield at 5am. No later."
She continued explaining the plan, "I trust that you all have read the email I sent out regarding the new information on Marie?" The group gave various nods and hums of confirmation.
It took over an hour for Janet to finish explaining the plan and answer questions. The whole time Bucky tapped his foot against the floor and fidgeted with the edges of his folder. Sam noticed right away and scooted a little closer to the other man, letting their arms touch.

"That pretty much sums it up I think," Janet walked over to the computer she was using to project the information. "Any more questions?"
The group shook their heads. "Alright then! Remember we all meet on the runway at 4am Monday morning. That's two days from now. We cannot be late, this is a time sensitive mission." She smiled as she packed up, putting her laptop into its case. "See you then."
—————————-
Sam and Bucky didn't do much in those 2 days. They focused on combat training and they talked with Louie over FaceTime about how they should approach Marie. She must be terrified or just plain numb after all these years, she won't trust them right away. Louie had worked with many children that S.W.O.R.D had intercepted over the years, from kids who were in the wrong place at the wrong time to all of the kids Wanda had held hostage. She even counseled Wanda for a bit of time after that. Having talks with her helped reassure the boys that she would be okay someday. Extremely traumatized, but okay.. ish.
The team group chat was busy with conversations about the mission. Bucky found all of the notifications annoying so he turned off his phone. Sam would let him know if it was anything important.
Monday came quickly and Sam and Bucky were going to be early for once.
"Is that everything?" Sam said as he shut the trunk of the car.
Bucky's face lit up "One second!" He ran back inside the compound and came back out a few minutes later holding a round leather case.
"Bucky.." Sam shook his head, already knowing what was in the case. "I can't take that, you know it."
"Please? At least for this mission. I told her all about Steve and the ridiculous suit. Maybe it would be something she would remember?" Bucky pleaded, handing the case to Sam.

"Don't get your hopes up hun, Louie said she might not remember anything," Sam took the shield out of its case, "but if you think it will help, I'll use it." Sam gave a soft smile.
Bucky grinned and got into the passenger seat while Sam put the case and shield in the back seat.
————————————
They arrived 3:20 am. Janet was waiting for them near the jet that was 5 times the size anyone expected. "Nice to see you two join me so early." She shouted over the roar of the engine. "I know how important this is to you. I have no doubt that you will succeed."
At 3:32 the Abbott's arrived. Meg wore their aviator glasses even though the sun had yet to rise and Louie carried a backpack with navy blue flowers. Within the next 20 minutes, Danny, Andrew, and John arrived.
"Alright now that everyone is here I will pass out weapons and bulletproof vests. I advise you all to reread the plan and be ready for anything. We don't know for sure how this mission will end. We can only do our best out there." Janet said as she paced the runway.
At 3:50, Janet left the tarmac after reminding them that she will be on standby.
Meg readied the plane and they prepared for takeoff.
It was a 5 hour flight to the hydra base hidden in the valleys of France. Sam, Louie, Bucky, Andrew, and Danny passed time by playing Garbage with the deck John had brought and placing bets with the candy Danny had brought. John was busy making sure their earpieces were connected to the same channel. Eventually he came to join the game and Andrew decided to leave and get his computers ready to hack into the base.
After an hour of playing the team split off to their cabins to read or something. Louie joined Meg in the cockpit and Sam and Bucky sat together on one of the couches slowly drifting off to sleep. Sam leaned his head against Bucky's shoulder. Bucky pulled him closer, practically onto his lap and held onto Sam like a teddy bear. Sam looked up to kiss Bucky's chin. Bucky reacted with a smile but Sam could tell he was worried.
"Relax Jamie. She'll be with us in no time." He whispered before kissing Bucky on the lips.
——————————
They landed in a secluded area in France and Meg walked out of the cockpit practically dragging a half-asleep Louie along with her. "You all should have picked out your cabins by now, we wake up at 7 pm." Meg stated heading to one of the three two-person cabins on the jet.
Sam and Bucky got the second two-person cabin and John won the other in a game of black jack against Danny. Andrew really didn't care for the extra space.

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
