Takes place after Endgame. Around the time that the show Falcon and the Winter Soldier takes place. (Also, this is a "I hate Steve's ending" safe place, but I am keeping it cannon for the sake of the story lmao.)

"What the hell Sam?!" Bucky shouts as he walks towards Sam at full speed. "You can't just go off and do your own thing! Fucking jumping out of planes without a plan like you're Steve-Fucking-Rogers!"

Sam rolls his eyes. "I got the job done didn't I? Why do you care?" He shouts back.

"We're supposed to be a team remember? Just because the dumb ass "higher ups" thought that it would be a great idea to put us together, doesn't mean we can just choose not to work together!"

"Chill out Buck, I'll cover for you" Sam smirks, "I'll let them know that you did... 25% of the work. And that's being generous."

Now it's Bucky's turn to roll his eyes. "You can't call me that."

"Huh?"

"Buck. You can't call me that." Bucky says taking a step closer to Sam.

"And why not?"

"Only Steve can call me that," he says crossing his arms across his chest.

"Aww, only your little crush Stevie can call you that??" Sam gives a fake pout, mocking Bucky.

Shit. How the hell did he know about that?

Bucky tried to quickly cover up his shock but he wasn't fast enough. "Yeah that's right Bucky-Boy, I saw the way you looked at him. The hurt in your eyes when he left you for Peggy." Sam said, taunting Bucky even more.

Bucky sucks his teeth, cocks a brow, and takes another step closer to Sam, punching him in the jaw with his flesh hand. (He wanted to hurt the guy, not kill him.)

Sam lifts a hand to his cheek and scoffs. He looked up at Bucky and noticed the same hurt from that day mixed with anger in his eyes. He watches as Bucky walks away clenching and unclenching his fists.

Later that week, Sam and Bucky were to report to the higher ups and give them a rundown on how their mission went. They had purposefully been avoiding each other since the mission but now they had no choice but to meet.

Sam arrived to the small conference room first and sat in a chair. He had only slightly regretted what he said to Bucky. He was mad at Steve too, but he didn't have to deal with the actual heartbreak like Bucky did. He didn't even completely know that Bucky liked Steve as more than friends. He just knew that bringing it up would make him mad.

Bucky walks in next, knocking Sam out of his thoughts as he sat down in the chair furthest from him.

"Look man, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have taken it that far." Sam says while not looking Bucky in the eyes.

Bucky just gives a huff and leans back in his chair. He takes a deep breath. "It's whatever man. I- " Bucky sighs dramatically.

"You don't have to apologize for punching me in the face. I kinda deserved it." Sam said while still not looking at Bucky.

Bucky sat upright in his seat and turned to face Sam. Looking him dead in the eyes with a stoic expression on his face Bucky said, "I wasn't going to." He stared at Sam a second longer then rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair again.

They didn't talk to each other for the rest of the meeting. Sam covered for Bucky like he said he would.

"Yeah Bucky and I worked together on this mission" and "yada, yada, yada." Bucky clicked his tongue as Sam explained how "well" they worked together.

After that the meeting was mostly attending to business and filling out a physical copy of the mission report.

Just before the higher ups dismissed them, they were told that they had another mission coming up in two weeks. Both of them rolled their eyes and walked out of the room.
