"Come on, please." Brittany continued to nag, pulling and tugging at my arm.
"It's not even time yet."
This girl has been driving me mad. With today being her birthday, she was more excited than we all thought she would be.
"But today is my birthday. What the hell am I still waiting for?"
"But I said I will give you your gift later today."
"Ugh." She refused to take no for a reasonable answer. She began to search the room, looking for anything that would be considered a gift. In boxes. In the bathroom. Under the bed. In the closet. She was unaware that her gift was not really a material item.
"Fine." She gave up the ridiculous search.
The pupil of her eyes narrowed then widened before they returned to their natural state. She was not at all pleased with my ability to hold back with her. Unwilling to accept my no with dignity, she stormed to the door, her feet pounding against the flooring as she exited the room.
"Such a baby." I shook my head.
Walking over to the door, I had hoped she had left me be. Realizing the coast was clear, I closed it, securing my privacy with the lock of the door. Brittany had a habit of appearing unannounced.
I reached for my phone. The phone clicked when I entered my pass code. Dialing in the number, I could only hope everything was going great with the others.
"How's it going?" I questioned her.
"It's coming along. The DJ should be here in ten. I got Steven to remind the other packs too." She confirmed. Thankfully I had Angela on my side. I would have never put this together without her help.
"Good." I felt relieved. "Thank you so much. If I would have done the party myself, she would have been hounding my every move."
"I believe you." She chuckled from the other end. "You're welcome and I will keep you posted."
"Great." We ended the small exchange.
Giving Brittany a party seemed like the right thing to do. I had a few people around the house invite their friends and the friends of their friends. With invites flying across the state, I was sure that tonight would end with a bang. I wanted her to have the time of her life.
With the main event of the night slowly approaching, that seemed to be my main focus. Wardrobe. Hair. I knew I would be preparing myself to handle a majority of Brittany's tasks.
With my mind purely on my phone, I walked into the kitchen, almost surprised to see Xavier in the kitchen digging in the refrigerator. A heavy sigh escaped me. I had something to do. He and I were not on the best of terms and I believe that it should be put to rest.
"Hello Alpha." My voice was sweet. It was rare that I put on my 'innocent' tone.
His eyes shifted from the refrigerator to me.
"What?" His tone was not inviting at all. It was actually intimidating.
"I was wondering if you were coming out tonight. You know, for Brittany's birthday party. I know she would love to have you there." Actually, I doubt she would even care.
He slammed the door of the box. His eyes strictly set on me.
"Does it look like I attend parties?"
Trust me, you need it, maybe it would help pull that stick out of your ass.
"Well fine." My tone was a bit harsh. I turned before I walked toward the exit of the kitchen. "Be an ass then."

Suddenly, I was snatched back into the kitchen and into arms. He looked down at me, his eyes narrowing before the darkness blanketed the color of his eyes. It was obvious he was not pleased.
"Watch your mouth." His glare was chilling. "Do you understand?"
"Yes." I rolled my eyes. I had no time to debate with him, nor did I care too. With a man like him, you would never win.
"Good." He released me, shoving me to the side before he exited the kitchen.
My hands balled to a tight fist, I stood there, struggling to fight the urge of knocking him upside his head and...kiss him.
I was insane...
"I'm READY!" Brittany barged into my room unannounced.
"Goddess Brittany, knock." I dropped my arms, revealing the lace bra and panty set I was still wearing.
"Sorry, but. How do I look?" Extending her thin arms, she spun around in a circle, revealing her entire wardrobe choice. A red sleeveless dress that complimented her fiery red hair. The dress had a long, draped neckline that exposed the inner part of her breast. It was mid-thigh and it hugged every part of her body. To finish it, she wore a pair of black pumps.
"You look sexy." I flirtatiously winked.
I ransacked my closet, pulling a white backless dress to slip into for the night.
"Hot stuff." Brittany eyed my choice of attire.
Finished with myself, I decided to help Brittany with her hair and makeup. I gave her a smoky look. Something simple to compliment her beautiful skin and features. Black liner and mascara. Black eye shadow and a dark lipstick. With a curling wand set on heat, I tended to her hair, gracing her head with an abundance amount of large curls.
"So where are we going?"
"I told you already." I escorted her out of the room.
"But you never told me where?" I told her that she and I would be meeting Angela at a newly created restaurant.
"It's called Kittenz, we are going to eat and have a few drinks."
"Okay." She followed me down into the main entrance way of the home.
"Where is everyone?" She looked around, acknowledging the strange and unusual silence of the house.
"Well Alpha Xavier called for a meeting but he excluded us for your birthday." The lie came so sudden.
"Oh how cool of him." She smiled.
Oh yeah right....
"Thank you." I breathed over the stench of the secluded cab drivers vehicle. My breaths short, I handed him a bill before I stepped out of the vehicle. I inhaled, taking in the freshness of the night's air before I looked up at the sign. Kittenz. In large, neon letters was the word spelled out in bold lettering.
"This looks nice." Brittany exhaled in a long breath as if she was holding it for the longest. I guess I was not the only one bothered by the cab.
"Wait until you see the inside."
I took her hand. Escorting her into the front doors and down the narrow hallway, we entered the main room and into the middle of a flood of voices and screams. At the top of their lungs, everyone screamed in sync, surprising Brittany upon her entrance.
I felt joyous that things worked out. Smiling, I looked to Brittany. Her lips were thin, her eyes were vast and her grip on my hand had tightened to a brutal grip. She looked at me.
"Surprise?" Did she not hear it the first time?

I expected a smile. I expected her normal cheery personality to scream out how happy she was. Instead, her eyes began to water before a tear drizzled down her skin.
"Oh Brittany." I pulled her into a hug.
"You did this?"
"Yes. We did this."
Finally, a cheeky smile appeared on her face. There it was. That friendly, easy going Brittany we expected to see. She had large grin on her face. One that seemed too large to even believe.
"Thank you so much." Her voice cracked.
"You're welcome."
Angela appeared with Steven not too far behind.
"You have to thank our party planner as well." I tugged Angela into my arms.
"Thank you. Thank you both." Brittany shared with us a tear of joy as she continued to grin.
"Now." I placed a light tap against her butt. "Now go have fun ladies. I need a drink."...
The night seemed to go perfectly well. Brittany, along with her large guest list, seemed to be having the time of their life. Guest across the area came out to show appreciation and to enjoy a night to remember. Music. Drinks. Dancing. Body shots.
There wasn't a dull face in the crowd.
I was vibrating to the base of the music, dancing along with the drawing beat of the song. My hips were shaking as I struggled not to spill my mixed drink. I looked into the eyes of my seated company. Angela, who was sitting alongside Steven and Kevin who seemed to be drowning in to the music as well.
"So how is your night so far?" I took a sip of my drink as I awaited Kevin's answer.
"Hell of a party."
"Well thank you. I try." I took pride of the outcome.
"I see." The dimples in his cheeks deepened when he flashed me his winning smile that complimented his eyes. I innocently leaned against him, resting my head against his broad-brimmed shoulder to relax for the first time tonight.
I could admit the liquor was deep in my system now. I was exhausted.
Glancing over at the party that sat just opposite of us, I could only wonder what they whispered to one another. Angela smiled, a glow spreading across her face when Steven spoke. A few times I thought I was the topic of their private conversation. Occasionally Steven would steal a glance at us and frown before he put his focus on Angela. Soon they stood, completely oblivious of us as they walked over to the crowded bar.
"So Amira, I was wondering something." Kevin placed his drink onto the table.
"About?" I giggled.
"About you and I."
"About me...and you?" I hiccupped.
"Yes, about me and you." He chuckled.
I carefully sat up straight, ignoring the sudden spin of the room around me and the churning in my belly. I looked down at my fingers, completely lost about this brewing conversation.
"Um, Kevin, I don't know yet." I haven't even thought about him and me honestly.
"It's fine. Take your time." He pulled me closer to him, wrapping his arms around me.
Something just didn't feel right.
"I'm -uh- going to get another drink." I pulled myself from his hold before I stood up. "Do you need anything?"
"I'm fine."
I nearly ran to the bar, shoving past the full crowd until I reached the awaiting bartender.
"Blue long island." I quickly requested. She nodded before she began to prepare my order.
What the hell have I done? Kevin and I?
The bartender returned with my drink. Without much hesitation, I sampled the drink, my eyes wondering around the bar without a target until I found one. I nearly spat out my drink. That lying shit.
Sitting at the far end of the bar was Allen sitting just beside Xavier. They seemed to be the spotlight of the party. Allen was taking shots as Xavier watched along with a few girls who sat back and cheered him on.
I walked up. The other girls acknowledged me and they did not look pleased. Finding the feeling mutual, I shot them a look of warning. They scrambled away without a word from me.
"I don't do parties." I tried to deepen my voice to imitate his.
"I doubt I sound like that?" He smiled his lips on the brim of the glass as he cut his eye at me. My fist balled at my side.
"You lying fucker." I raised my head to him. Everyone within some feet of us seemed to catch on, watching as I dared stand to their Alpha. This was more than a bold move. It was suicidal.
'Well, that is my cue to leave." Allen slipped out of the chair, grabbed his remaining shots before he disappeared into the awaiting crowd.
"You are such a...such a...such a... damn awful person." I shoved my finger into his chest as I spoke. It was not hard to find the muscles that helped shape his body in the process. "Why can't you be nicer?"
"Excuse me?" He snatched my hand up. His strength seemed to rush to his hand as he clasped down on my frail one. My face hard as nails, I acted as if his grip on my hand was not painful.
"You heard me." I would have thought he would have broken my hand if he did not release it already.
"Shouldn't you be back over there-" he nodded his head toward the lounge area. 'With your male friend?"
"He's not my boyfriend."
"I didn't say that."
"You were thinking that. He is not my boyfriend." I found myself repeating my last statement.
"He thinks otherwise." He grinned.
"You don't know what he thinks. You know what, I don't know why I'm even standing here entertaining you. You are nothing but a fool with a cold damn heart." I forced up a painful hiccup.
He was a dick. Hell, if his pack was too afraid to tell him, then I will.
"You're drunk."
"N-No I'm not." I could feel the room spinning and my stomach churning.
Oh shit, I think I'm going to throw up.
I leaned forward, my hand over my mouth as I blocked the contents of my stomach from spilling all over the floor. The bartender handed me a trash can before I released my insides in to it.
Oh fuck, how embarrassing.
I could feel my legs buckling and the room began spinning around me again. My vision became fuzzy as my limbs began to feel like jelly under me. Oh hell...
Waking from a nasty hangover seemed to be the nightmare of an exciting night. There was the headache. The sensitivity. The stomach ache. Then there was the painful free time to think, or try to remember the long night that caused such a dreadful morning. It was the times that always made me think about never consuming another alcoholic beverage again.
Kicking the blankets off of me, they fell onto the floor. The air from the open window swam into the room and onto my sweaty body. I spread my arms to invite it.
Why am I undressed?
I looked down, acknowledging the bra and panties I was left in.
Did I do this?
How the hell did I get home last night?
I reached for my phone which I normally placed on the night stand beside my bed. Waiting alongside my phone was a glass of cool water and a pack of aspirins. As the room began to spin, wondering where these things came from was the last thing on my mind when I took the aspirin and chased the dry tablets down with water.
Suddenly my door creaked open before a splash of red slipped through the crack.
"Look who's alive."
"Barely." She flopped down just beside me. Her red hair splattered around my pillow before she turned over to her back.
"Need an aspirin?"
"Yesss." I shook two tablets in to her hand. Without the use of water, she took the tablets back.
"Last night was amazing." She struggled to push forth a smile. "Thank you again."
"No problem. Anything for my girls."
She rolled over before she brushed up against me.
"Brittany? I could barely remember anything." It was true. Last night's events seemed to be patchy. "By any chance, do you know who brought me home last night? Or even what happened."
She smiled. A smile I found quite unusual on her drained face. It was one of those grins that held back a story that she was itching to share. I was beginning to regret my question.
"Well, we danced, we drank, and we partied...right before you gave Alpha Xavier a piece of your mind-"
"A piece of my what?!"
"Well yeah, you walked up to him and told him off. You don't remember?"
"NO!" I fell back into my pillow as I ran my hands across my face and through my hair.
The scene was blotchy but it all seemed to resurface to me. I walked up to Xavier, clearly enraged and determined to have a few words with him. I never thought those would be the words though. Words that would have my head.
"Well, how did I get home Brittany?" I was clearly frustrated with the night already.
"Well, after your little show and you passing out, Alpha Xavier brought you home. Angela removed your clothes and tucked you in."
"Oh." I was a little surprised. I would have thought Xavier would have left me in the club in a pool of my own vomit. Especially after that scene.
"Yeah. And by the way you threw up and how long you slept, I'm guessing you had as much fun as I did." We shared a laugh before she stumbled over to the door.
"I'm going to go clean up." She explained. "I think my bed is calling me."
She left the room with me still inside, thinking.
I was in a whole lot of shit....

A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
