《Father Laff AU (Socksfor1) Volume 1》The Trial Part Three

Laff leaned on his desk at the P.D. as he sighed softly. He was stressed out about the trial taking place in a few hours.
The trial for his son.
Laff could really laugh(haha) at the idea that he was gonna let anyone take Nadwe away.
But then again; there was the general public. That was still an issue. This was not only a general issue, but this could be spun to be a problem.
If the fact Nadwe could be part vampire is enough to quickly get people on Beef Team Six's side, then Laff would be in trouble.
He wasn't gonna let anyone take Nadwe away, even if he and Nadwe have to move. Laff promised his son on the very first day he found him that he was gonna give Nadwe a normal life.
No matter what it takes.
Just a few seconds passed before a loud voice pulled Laff out of his thoughts.
"Laffen!"
Laff jolted and quickly sat up in his chair, looking over at the superintendent leaning out of his office.
"My office, Now."
S.I. Chalmers then disappeared into his office as Laff quickly got up, making his way into the office and shut the door behind him.
"Where's the paperwork on the Beef Team Six cases? They were required to be done and on my desk an HOUR ago."
Shit, Laff knew he forgot something...
"Fuck, um, I handed those off to Luellen, sir."
Chalmers sat up in his chair and glared at Laff "You handed senior level work to the cadet?! Why the fuck would you do that?!"
Laff scratched the back of his head "Well, I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it in time, you know I have to go to court soon. Plus, Luellen graduated the top of her class, she can handle it."

Chalmers sighed and rubbed his face "Of course, your son is on trial for ownership.."
Laff huffed softly "With respect sir, the prosecuting side is trying to murder him, so this trial is rather important to me." Chalmers leaned back and looked at him "You really care about this child, don't you?"
Laff looked at him and nodded "More than anything in the world sir. My only wish for him is that I can give him a normal life." He thought about it and waved his hand "more or less..."
The super intendent took in a slow breath, before exhaling just as slowly.
"Tell you what, I'll see if I can get some strings pulled to help the trial in your favor."
That made Laff look up in shock at Chalmers, his mouth gapped open "W-Wait- Really?!" Chalmers nodded and stood up "Of course, on one condition. You have to do something for me." He walked closer to Laff as the british detective nodded.
"Of course! Anything sir!"
No matter what it takes, Laff would do anything to give Nadwe a good life.
Chalmers smirked softly and leaned down, kissing Laff on the lips quickly
Okay, maybe not .
Laff's eyes quickly widened, but not as fast as his fist flew; hitting Chalmers square in the jaw and effectively knocking him back.
"What the ?!"
Chalmers rubbed his jaw and got up, groaning "You just said you would do whatever it took to protect your son!"
Laff glared at him, wiping his mouth off "I DID say that, but I know I'm fucking above giving out sexual favors to help achieve my goal!" He huffed and shook his head "Sometimes, you're an arse Chalmers, a fucking bastard with a stick up your arse. I and everyone else never said anything because we assumed you knew what the fuck you were doing. And no matter how fucked up your methods were, I followed without question. No matter how much of a lowlife degenerate fuck you were, I did as you said. No matter how incompetent you fucking were, I STILL worked under you. But this shit ain't gonna fly with me. Not now and not fucking anymore."

Chalmers glared at him "What do you mean 'anymore'?"
Laff looked him dead in the eyes and responded simply;
"I quit. I'm not putting up with this bullshit anymore."
He then reached up and took off his badge, placing it down on the desk. "You can find someone else to be your private investigator." He turned and started walking "By the way; I'm reporting your arse."
Chalmers scoffed and watched him leave "You quit? You're quitting a high paying; good security job? How the FUCK are you gonna provide for your son without a job; even IF the courts allow you to keep him?!"
Laff stopped at the door, holding the handle. "...Not sure." He glanced back "But I'd rather have Nadwe grow up respecting me for doing the right thing."
He opened the door and quickly walked out, slamming it shut behind him.
(This was MEANT to be a combination chapter of both parts three and four but I'm tired. We've done nothing but sit at our computers for basic first day stuff xD

Rooms of the Desolate
Rooms of the Desolate is a collection of short stories designed to guide the reader through the many rooms and mysteries of the bleak and greyscale labyrinth of the Desolate. The first entry, "The Forever Tower" follows an unnamed wanderer climbing an endless, colourless tower; the only world they have ever known. As they slowly ascend alongside the masses, they consider the nature of their world and look to the corridors as temptation beckons. The second entry, "Production Line", follows an engineer in a boundless factory, who encounters a product that does not wish to bow to the overseers and makes them question their belief in the truth and duties they were made to believe. Content guidelines: Current entries do not include explicit profanity, but future entries may do so, hence the presence of that tag. Some entries do include gore and violence, though not currently to particularly extreme degrees. The Desolate is exactly that: a desolate world; as such, it is bleak, downtrodden, and may deal with mental struggles. Cover art credit: Adam Borkowski on Pexels.
